SCOPE This addendum specification and its attachments cover the requirements for piping flexibility analysis of piping systems and components.

This specification should be read in conjunction with the attached Design General Specification No DGS-PU-005 Rev 0 and the specific requirements of the requisition(s) in which it is incorporated.

2.

AMENDMENTS The following amendments and additions shall apply to Design General Specification, Piping Flexibility Analysis, DGS-PU-005 Revision 0. All references to “DGS” shall be replaced with “5578-AMD”.

2.1.

AMENDMENTS TO SECTION 1 – GENERAL

DEFINITIONS General Definitions Replace:

CONCESSION REQUEST – A deviation requested by the CONTRACTOR usually after receiving the contract package or purchase order. Often, it refers to an authorization to use, repair, recondition, reclaim, or release materials, components or equipment already in progress or completely manufactured by which does not meet or comply with COMPANY requirements. A CONCESSION Request is subject to COMPANY approval.

With:

The following definitions shall be added under definitions. Specific Definitions COMPANY

– Organization to which TAKREER award the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) phase.

MANUFACTURER / VENDOR - Supplier of equipment or support services for a particular piece of equipment/package. SUB-VENDOR

AMENDMENTS TO SECTION 2 – CODES, STANDARDS AND SOFTWARES

Replace second sentence:

“The latest edition in force shall apply”

With:

“15 January 2008 is the effective date for codes and standards i.e. the code or standard valid on that date shall be the one to be used”.

AMENDMENTS TO SECTION 4.0 DOCUMENT PRECEDENCE

Replace:

“The CONTRACTOR Pipe Stress Engineer shall notify the PMT/TAKREER of any apparent conflict between this specification, the related data sheets, the Codes and Standards, and any other specifications noted herein. Resolution and/or interpretation precedence shall be obtained from the PMT/TAKREER in writing before proceeding with the design.”

With:

“The CONTRACTOR Pipe Stress Engineer shall notify COMPANY of any apparent conflict between this Specification, the related data sheets, the Codes and Standards, and any other specifications noted herein. Resolution and/or interpretation precedence shall be obtained from COMPANY in writing before proceeding with the design.”

“In case of conflict the order of precedence shall be stated in the AGREEMENT or other PROJECT documents as applicable”

2.5.

AMENDMENTS TO SECTION 8.0 – DESIGN Section 8.1 – PIPING ANALYSIS PRACTICE

8.1.1 – Replace: With:

“..… latest version of CAESAR III …….” “….. latest version of CAESAR II ……”

8.1.3 – Add 8.1.3.g Lines connected to high pressure PSV’s, Blowdown valves which are identified in Piping & Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs) to generate acoustic induced vibration.

Section 8.2 – PIPING SYSTEMS st

Replace 1 Para. “Piping flexibility shall be obtained through pipe routing or expansion loops unless process conditions, limitations of space or economics dictate the use of flexible connectors. The use of expansion joint requires COMPANY approval. Expansion loops, when installed in a horizontal plane, shall be offset vertically to clear adjacent piping. Expansion loops shall be avoided on pipe bridges over roadways.” With:

Exception is flare or any other no-pocket line, where flat loop is provided. Expansion loops shall be avoided on pipe bridges over roadways.”

Replace 2nd Para. “Lateral movement of piping in overhead piperacks and grade pipeways shall be restricted to 25mm (1”) With:

“Lateral movement of piping in overhead piperacks and grade pipeways should be restricted to 25mm (1”)

Section 8.3 – EXTERNAL LOAD LIMITS ON EQUIPMENT 8.3.5 – Exchangers (Air-Cooled) Replace:

The maximum allowable forces and moments which may be applied to air cooled heat exchanger nozzles shall be limited to those listed in Appendix 2 (API STD 661, modified).

With:

8.3.6 – Exchangers (Shell and Tube) Replace:

Allowable loads on shell and tube exchanger nozzles shall be in accordance with Appendix 1.

8.3.8 – Pressure Vessels Replace:

Allowable nozzle loads shall be calculated in accordance with project specification DGS-MD-002 requirements, using loads specified in that specification. The loads shall

be confirmed by CONTRACTOR Pipe Stress Engineer with Vessel Engineer and/or Vessel MANUFACTURER. With:

Allowable nozzle loads shall be calculated in accordance with project specification 5578-AMD-MD-001 requirements, using loads specified in that specification. The loads shall be confirmed by CONTRACTOR Pipe Stress Engineer with Vessel Engineer and/or Vessel MANUFACTURER.

Section 8.7 – WIND LOADS Replace:

Design for wind loads shall be in accordance with Project Specification DGS-CU-002, Structural Engineering Design Criteria

With:

Section 8.13 – ALLOWABLE FORCES AND MOMENTS ON FLANGES Replace:

“To avoid leakage in flanges, bending moments and forces on flanges shall be limited to the formulas listed in the ASME pressure vessel codes, Section III, Paragraph NB3647.1”

With:

“To avoid leakage in flanges, bending moments and forces on flanges shall be limited to the formulas listed in the ASME pressure vessel codes, Section III, Paragraph NB-3658 and NC-3658”.
