1. FADE IN: INT. DOCTOR’S OFFICE – AFTERNOON. Children, toddlers most of them, lie in their mothers’ arms and laps as they wait in the lounge for a obstetrics/pediatrics clinic. SILVER, a Caucasian in his early-to-mid thirties, takes pictures in artful angles of the mothers and children with his DSLR. He thanks his subjects with a bright smile and offers of CANDIES. The children respond to him, smiling and taking his candies. THE LADY DOCTOR, TITA ANNE (40s), watches from her door. ANNE Maayo sa mga bata imong asawa. Mamahimo s’yang usa ka buotan nga amahan. Anne is talking to VERONICA/RONNIE(20s), a pretty, petite morena who sports a 5month pregnant belly. ANNE Di jud ka gusto makahibaw sa henero/sex sa imong anak? RONNIE Mas ganahan man gud si Silver masorpresa. ANNE Ay sus, kinahanglan mag-praktikal. Unsaon ninyo pagpangandam sa mga gamit sa bata? Aw, kamo ang bahala. Inyo man ng anak. Silver turns to the two women. Politely he excuses himself and joins them. He embraces his wife. SILVER How was it, Veronica? Is everything okay? The ultrasound? ANNE Everything went fine. Anne beams wide. The young couple bid the doctor good-bye. EXT. ROAD – AFTERNOON. Under an umbrella against the bright sun, Ronnie and Silver take their leisure walking the dirt road home, enjoying the scenery of their small town (like San Fernando or Liloan). From time to time, they stop as Ronnie stops and takes a snapshot of something interesting through his DSLR—a stray flower, or stray cat or stray tree or the stray child on an errand. RONNIE (OS) Golda? SILVER (OS) Yeah...if we’re getting a daughter. It’s my mother’s name. RONNIE (OS) (giggles) That’s why you’re Silver pala. SILVER (OS) Yeah...so what you think? RONNIE (OS) Golda’s a pretty name...but what if our baby’s a boy? EXT. HOUSE – AFTERNOON. NOEMI(12~), Ronnie’s younger sister, sweeps the dried leaves and grass from the house plants in the front yard. A smoking pile is set a few feet away. She sees Ronnie and Silver coming into the gate. She turns back to the house. NOEMI Tiyo! Nia na sila Ate ug Silver! TIYO BEN(45~), an uncle/surrogate father to both Ronnie and Noemi, comes out in greeting as the young couple approach.

3. TIYO BEN Naglung-ag nako. Magsugba ta ug baboy. Adunay bag-ong gikatay nga baboy ang imong iyaan.Utan bisaya na lang pud. RONNIE Sige, Tiyo. Noemie, pagkuha ug kamunggay sa likod. Noemi takes a model pose for Silver taking her picture. Silver shows her the result from the DSLR’s LCD. NOEMI Ooo. Noemi goes on her errand. Tiyo Ben approaches Silver. TIYO BEN And for us, a brand new batch of tuba! SILVER Tuba? What’s that? TIYO BEN Ah it’s wine from coconut palm, you’ll love it. We’ll drink lots. Silver smiles at Tiyo Ben’s eagerness and looks at Ronnie who is amused. SILVER I like to try it. TIYO BEN You’ll try it and you’ll love it. RONNIE Tiyo Ben, imo jud tudluan akong bana ug bisyo. (for Silver)Uncle’s being bad influence on you. TIYO BEN Me bad influence? Silver you drink. Men drink! This is not vice. This is culture! (laughs) INT. HOUSE – EVENING Later that evening, Noemi clears the table of dishes then heads to the kitchen sink where Ronnie piles in the cooked pans. NOEMI Ako na ang maghugas. Ronnie nods, grateful. She shuffles to the front of the door where outside one can hear boisterous laughter (OS). She looks outside.

4. EXT. HOUSE – EVENING. Amidst their drinking session, Silver is teaching Tiyo Ben and the other boys not to look into the camera, making them pose naturally for some candid photos. For in the moment realism. Silver looks like one of the boys. INT. HOUSE – EVENING. Ronnie smiles to herself. Her husband seems to be enjoying himself. She winces, a hand to her swollen belly. Even at five months, its already looking too big for her small frame. She retires back deeper inside the house. INT. BEDROOM, HOUSE – EVENING. Washed and changed, Ronnie settles herself in bed for sleep. The door opens and Silver comes in, also washed and changed. BOISTEROUS LAUGHTER (OS) can be heard from outside. RONNIE Uncle still there? Silver takes out his travel bag from the closet, from a zipper pulls out a wad of bills, counts out some then puts on his wallet. SILVER Yeah, told them I still have that trip to Santander tomorrow. Have to get ready early. RONNIE You have load on your cellphone? SILVER We’ll get some tomorrow before we leave the city, just to make change. I’ll forward load to you too. Everything set, Silver joins Ronnie in bed. He watches her wince from the time, touching her belly. SILVER Are you okay? RONNIE Yes. It’s the baby. Kicks hard. Intrigued, Silver feels the crest of Ronnie’s belly. He gets startled. Ronnie laughs at his expression. It charms her. They hold hands over her belly.

5. INT. BEDROOM, HOUSE – MORNING. Ronnie is asleep in bed. Quiet as a cat, Silver sits on the bedside packing his bag, checking his DSLR and its accessories. He looks at Ronnie to check. He goes to the closet and in its deepest part gets a BLACK BAG, checking its contents and security. He takes a smaller camera from it and places it inside his backpack. Contented he returns to its hiding place in the closet, closes it shut. Silver goes to the door, opens it to leave. Ronnie shifts in her bed. RONNIE Ingat. Take care. SILVER See you later. Silver leaves, Ronnie goes back to sleep. INT. HOUSE – AFTERNOON. Ronnie’s up and ironing clothes. Her cellphone rings (OS). She checks her cellphone, its Silver. She turns off her iron and settles herself comfortable in a chair before answering the call. RONNIE Hello? SILVER Hello, Veronica. Listen, I don’t have long to talk so listen carefully. I’m in a bit of trouble, but I already called Uncle Ben for help. He’ll be coming by the house later to get money. You give him twenty thousand. Ronnie looks confused, she wants to ask but Silver interrupts. SILVER You give him the money and travel fare, you understand please? RONNIE Yes I understand...what happened? SILVER I’ll explain when I get back. I’m sorry. An audible click. Ronnie looks at the cellphone like it slapped her.

6. INT. BEDROOM, HOUSE – AFTERNOON. Ronnie waddles into the room. She goes to the closet, takes out Silver’s main bag. Sees THE BLACK BAG. She looks curious as she closes the closet. She counts out several 1000 peso-bills. She counts them out again then puts these in an envelope. EXT. HOUSE – AFTERNOON. At the door’s threshold, Tiyo Ben counts the money in the envelope. RONNIE Naa na pud diha ang imong pamasahe. Tiyo Ben nods. He looks aged. Ronnie notices this. RONNIE Tiyo, anong nangyari? TIYO BEN Unsay giingon sa imong asawa? RONNIE Way giingon si Silver sa akoa. Ihatag kuno nako ang kwarta sa imoha. TIYO BEN Di s’ya gusto nga mabalaka ka. Wa kay angay nga ikabalaka. The older man turns to leave but Ronnie stops him by the hand and stares him down. TIYO BEN Gitawgan ko n’ya. Gidakop s’ya sa mga pulis kay nag-picture-picture s’ya sa mga batang nagduwa sa baybayon nga walay sanina. (shakes head) Kahibaw naman tang Silver nga sige man na siya ug pa-mikture. N’ya ang mga daga nga naligo ug nagduwa. Sa tan-aw n’ya, nindot kuhaan ug piktyur-piktyur. Gidakop s’ya sa mga pulis didto. Naa kunoy nisumbong. Gikuha ang iyang bag ug camera. Karon, tua s’ya sa istasyon gisukit-sukit. RONNIE Ngano man? Unsa may ilang ikiha kang Silver?

7. TIYO BEN Si Silver kuno ang nagsugod. Gihatagan n’ya ug kendi ug kwarta nga ipalit ug pagkaon ang mga daga. Kahibaw na ka anang iyang ganti, balos sa pag-pose, atubangan sa iyang camera. Ronnie looks breathless with worry. TIYO BEN Ayaw na ug kabalaka. Aduna koy kaila didto. Abogado iyang igsoon. Ako nang gitawgan. Masulbad ra ni. Mo-text ra ko inig abot nako sa Santander. The uncle gives Ronnie’s shoulder a squeeze, then leaves. INT. BEDROOM, HOUSE – EVENING. Ronnie sits upright in bed, unsettled. She strokes her belly as if to calm herself. There’s a knock on the door. She turns to it as it opens. It’s Noemi. NOEMI Ate, nakapalit na ko ug barbecue. Kaon na ta. Ronnie nods and tries to get up to her feet. She’s helped by Noemi. CUT TO BLACK. LATER, the closet door opens. Ronnie piles folded, ironed clothes inside. She sees Silver’s black bag as she places clothes in. As she closes the closet she takes the black bag out. She places it on the bed and looks at it for a time. She opens it and looks into it. She pulls out some digital cameras. A bag of candies. And some photos. These photos makes her scream silent. INT. HOUSE – EVENING. In the small den, Noemi works on her assignment when Ronnie stands before her. Waits a few beats until Noemi looks up, inquiringly. LATER, Ronnie has taken her seat. Noemi has her head bowed low in shame. Silence exist between the two sisters. In Ronnie’s clutched hands are photos-- What can be seen(implied) between Ronnie’s fingers is that these photos of Noemi almost naked and in provocative poses. Noemi’s sniffles. Ronnie looks like she’s been crying and screaming. Her voice is soft and hoarse. NOEMI Gipalitan ko n’ya ug mga gamit human nako ni buhata... Wa n’ya ko hilabti.

8. Ronnie looks at her sister who doesn’t look up but seems to bow her head lower. There’s a KNOCK ON THE DOOR (OS). Ronnie opens the door. Across the threshold, stands Anne, Ronnie’s aunt/doctor. She’s holding up A BROWN ENVELOPE, smiling an eager greeting then she frowns. EXT. HOUSE – MORNING. Silver is brought home by Tiyo Ben and another man. Silver shakes the hand of the other man in gratitude. INT. BEDROOM, HOUSE – MORNING. Ronnie sits on the edge of her side of bed, her back to the door. She looks like she hasn’t slept. A knock on the door (OS). TIYO BEN (OS) Ronnie (opens the door) Abot na mi. Asa si Noemi? RONNIE Didto sa nako s’ya gipatulog kay Tiya Anne. Tiyo Ben wants to pursue a question but Silver’s sudden presence beside him stops the older man. Tiyo Ben leaves. Silver enters the bedroom, closes the door. SILVER Veronica... Ronnie stands and throws the photos and the bag of candies at Silver’s face, stunning him. Silver looks down at the mess by his feet, photos of naked children (Note: blurry, indistinct but heavily implied) and scattered candies. Silently he bends down to pick these up. He takes his time. One of the photos he picked up stops him. THE PHOTO is the Obstetric Sonogram of Ronnie’s Baby, his baby. RONNIE (OS) Auntie bring that, it’s our baby. (a beat) It’s a girl. Silver looks up at Ronnie’s words. His eyes falls back on the photo, mesmerized. A beat. At her bedside, Ronnie waits, floating in uncertainty. SILVER She’s beautiful...Our little girl. His words stab Ronnie, she closes her eyes. CUT TO BLACK. ROLL CREDITS. THE END
