Routine pi))in) is carried out to prevent a 'uild-up o$ de'ris #it"in t"e pipeline and to remove $ ree #ater #"ic" ma& accumulate at t"e 'ottom o$ t"e pipeline% Deposits can cause an e$$ective reduction o$ pipeline diameter and "ence increased 'ac* pressure to t"e e+port s&stem, 'ot" de'ris and sta)nant #ater can )ive rise to increased corrosion o$ t"e pipeline and reduce t"e e$$icienc& o$ corrosion in"i'itor%
