The project is located in Rampur tract of Ib Valley Coalfield in Jharsuguda district of Orissa. It is situated to the north-west of Lajkura OC Project. It is under administrative control of Orient area, MCL. It is bounded by latitudes 21º 49’ 30” to 21º 52’ 00”N and longitudes 83º52’ 30” to 83º 54’ 50”E. The Survey of India Topo sheet No.64/0/13 (1:50,000) covers the area.
INTRODUCTION Orient Mine No. 1&2 belongs to Orient Sub-Area of M/s. Mahanadi Coalfields Limited. It is under the jurisdiction of Bhubaneswar Region of Director of Mines safety. This is situated about 2 kms North of Brajrajnagar Railway Station of South Eastern Railway and about 3.5 kms on South of Jharsuguda Raigarh Road.
The mine has been developed extensively over the leasehold area and part of the leasehold
constituting Mine No. 1 has been depillared and sealed off. Presently mining
activities are confined to Mine No. 2 and coal is being raised by means of development of panels only. The mine has 4 seams, namely Lajkura seam 1, 2, 3 and 4 in upper horizon, where work for winning coal has been practiced. The mine has IB-seam within its leasehold area at a depth of about 50 meters below Lajkura seam no-4, the bottommost of Lajkura seams.

SURVEY Orient Colliery 1&2 mine, Orient Area, MCL is situated a north side of Howrah-Bombay main line of South Eastern Railway. The mine is situated at about two kms distance from Brajrajnagar Railway Station. The mine is presently being worked in HR Seam-III & HR Seam-IV. Total mineable reserves are 53.24 million tons of coal. There are eight opening at Orient 1&2 mine in which two are shafts. Mine surveying office situated at Mine No-2 consist of 4 rooms. Out of 4 rooms (4.77 x2.95) m are being used as office. One room is (3.97 x 2.39) m used as store and drawing room is of (6.20 x4.70) m. All rooms are well ventilated and fitted with sufficient numbers of lights and fans. All surveying plans are up to date and there is no pending survey work. Mine survey plan has been connected to National Grid. Check survey and joint survey work with sister mines have been completed on 01.07.2009. GEOLOGY, COAL SEAMS AND THEIR STATUS Three coal horizons i.e. Lajkura, Rampur & IB Seam occur in Lajkura-II geological block of IB Valley Coalfields. The seams occur in Barakar & Karharbari formation of Lower Gondwana. Only Hingir Rampur Seam is being mined through Orient Colliery, Mine No-1&2. The general 0 0 strike of HR Seam & bed is N 10 W & the true dip of the seam is S 80 W. The gradient of HR Seam varies between 1 in 6 to 30. The average thickness of HR Seam varies from 25M to 30M including bands. The seam is inter banded with coal, shaly coal, carbonaceous shale & shale. The vertical parting between Lajkura horizon & Rampur horizon is about 90M. The HR Seam has been split into 4nos of sub-seams namely HR Seam-I, HR Seam-II, HR Seam-III & HR Seam-IV having thickness of about 2.59M, 2.22M, 2.69M & 3M respectively. The parting between HR Seam-I & HR Seam-II is 3M, the parting between HR Seam-II &HR Seam-III is 13M and the parting between HR Seam-III & HR Seam-IV is 3.5M. The average grade of coal is G-9. At present, the depth of cover varies from 25M to 220M & it is likely to increase on the dip side of the property. So far, no major fault has been encountered except a few slips, cleats & small faults having throw less than 1.5M.

SECTION OF STRATA:
VENTILATION Introduction: The objective of any ventilation system is twofold. First, the primary ventilation must course air through the main airways to the immediate working area out by the working faces, thus making fresh air available for face ventilation, and then return the contaminated air through return (exhaust) airways to the surface. Second, the face ventilation system must be designed to effectively utilize the available air in the immediate working area to sweep the working face, to capture and remove dust, and to dilute and carry away gas, if any, emitted during mining activities. Without a properly designed ventilation system, an efficient production cycle would not be possible. The system should provide the required air volumes and quality at reasonable pressure losses, perform with minimum interference and cost to production, and do so in the most cost-effective way possible.
Furthermore, the primary ventilation system may be well designed, but if the available air brought to the working area is not properly utilized for ventilating the faces where most workers are located, the total system has failed (Bossard, et al., 1982).
Ventilation Equipment The mine is provided with two exhaust type fans
i.e. one AF -100 (Axial flow )
installed at surface that provides adequate ventilation in all the working of OC 1&2 mine and other one is A PV-200 (Axial flow ) has been installed as stand- by . Auxiliary fan (2 no.s) for LHD .Districts are installed to course air within 4.5m at the working face. There are 2 no.s of intake air way s and one return air ways such as 6 th incline , 7th incline and 10th incline .

DUST SUPPRESSION ARRANGEMENTS Dusting Zones are marked in the underground as per the plan. Proper cleaning and treatment of coal dust is being done in haulage roadways , travelling roadways and in other airways as per statute . Dust samplers are collected from each zone , analyzed and records are maintained . Air borne dust survey is being done once in every month . Stone dust barriers are provided in all the working sections.
Surface: - Water spraying arrangement have been made in surface bunker for dust suppression. Water spraying is being done in coal stock yard, Dispatch roads. Outside the mine premises the dust is being suppressed by water spraying by water tankers.
Underground: Water spraying arrangement have been done in working districts, belt loading points, discharge points etc. for suppression of dust. Also stone dusting is done regularly.

MINE WORKING
In Orient Colliery Mine No 1&2, HR Seam-III & HR Seam-IV are being developed by Bord and Pillar method with deployment of LHD. The mine is a semi-mechanized mine. Possibility for depillaring is being explored.

SUPPORT SYSTEM Working districts are supported by roof-bolts with full column grout as per approved ssr. The general pattern of support at face is 3 bolts in a row with spacing of 1.2 m between rows and 1.5 m between bolts in a row. The 1st row of bolt shall be put not more than 1.2 m from the face. Side bolts shall be inclined towards the sides & center bolts shall be vertical or normal to bedding plane. Junctions are supported by additional 25 % roof bolts. Roof stitching is also practiced in addition to roof bolts in bad roof condition and properly lagged with sleepers. Anchorage testing machines are used for testing 10% of erected roof bolts in each shift. Anchorage testing is being done at half an hour, 2 hours, 24 hours & 28 days after erection of bolts. Two anchorage testing machines are provided i.e. one in each working district. The tested bolts are properly tagged for its identification. ORGANIZATION FOR ROOF SUPPORT

In order to determine the system of support to be followed, Rock Mass Rating (RMR) is Determined for the immediate roof, say, up to 2 m above gallery height. For this purpose, generally, the following parameters are considered: • Layer thickness, • Structural features, • Rock weathering ability • Rock strength, and • Ground water seepage.

Details of systematic support rules:Support at development workings--- The roof of the development workings, not exceeding 4.2 m in width, within 10 m of the face is supported by 3 full column cement grouted bolts in a row, with the row spacing not exceeding 1.2m. The bolts in the same row is so installed that their spacing does not exceed 1.5m, and the maximum distance of the bolts from the pillar side does not exceed 0.60m. The last row of support shall not exceed 1.5m. Side bolts is fixed at an inclination of 55-60 degrees from the horizontal.

Every junction of the roadway immediately out bye of the development
face, is supported with full column cement grouted bolts in a manner that spacing of such bolts in the same row does not exceed 1.5m and also row spacing does not exceed 1m to ensure 25% extra support at junctions.
GENERAL a) The roof bolts used is of dimension 20-22 mm in diameter and 1.5m in length. b) The bearing plates used is MS plates of size 15cm*15cm size and 6 mm thick with center hole. c) Quick setting cement capsules are being used for full column grouting. d) 3 cement capsules were inserted into each drilled hole and hold in place with the help of roof bolts, rotated a no. of times, then bearing plate is tightened to its place with the help of the nut & bolt. e) Support pressure taken up by the roof bolts is 8-10 tons after 24 hours of installation.
ANCHORAGE TESTING:-1. At least 10% of the bolts installed should be tested for anchorage, by selecting bolts randomly. 2. Of the tested bolts 90% should be tested as follows: Time elapsed after installation

EXPLOSIVES & BLASTING BLASTING PRACTICE: INTRODUCTION--(a) Solid blasting technique is followed. (b) The pattern is wedge cut with 12 holes in each blast. (c) P-5 type of permitted explosives is used. (Power gel, pent dyne, super coal, Nova coal, etc.) (d) Delay detonators of permitted delay are used (IEL, SEL, IDEAL, etc.) (e) Locked containers are used for the transport of explosives. (f) Exploder- Power blast exploder is being used. Only one exploder key is issued to the section sirdar in each district. One service magazine is within the mine premises for daily storage and use.

No explosives other than P-5, and no detonator other than “non-incentive” short (millisecond) delay detonator shall be used for this purpose.

The pattern of shot holes, the amount of charge in each hole etc., shall be in accordance with the pattern laid down by the manager (circulated to all officials & short firers. (a)
The estimated period of delay between the first and the last shots of the round, calculated by reference to the marking on the detonators, shall not exceed 0.15 seconds (150 milli seconds).
(b)
The estimated period of delay between any two consecutive delay shots shall not exceed 0.06 second (60 milli seconds).
(c)
The minimum distance between any two adjacent shot holes of different delays shall be 0.6 m between the portions of shot holes containing the explosive charge.
(d)
Total charge in any shot hole shall not exceed 565 gm.
(e)
Total charge in one round shall not exceed 5.65 Kg.
VENTILATION:1.
At least 284 m3 of air per minute shall be conducted up to every face where solid blasting is being done.
2.
Tests for inflammable gas shall be made at and within a radius of 20 m of the place of firing With an approved type of methanometer by a person holding a Manager’s / Overman’s certificate, and no shot shall be fired if 0.5% of more CH 4 is found at any place in the said zone.
SHOTFIRING:1.
The shot firing operation shall be carried out only by a person holding either a Manager’s or Overman’s or a Mining Sirdar’s certificate with proper training in the technique of delay blasting and specially authorized by manager to carry out delay blasting according to the pattern laid down by the manager.

The Shotfirer shall (a)
Not fire more than 12 shots in one round.
(b)
Strictly adhere to the pattern of shot holes and charge per hole, as laid down by the manager.
DUST SUPPRESSION: Misfire:No person shall re-enter or be permitted to re-enter the place until not less than 5 minutes after the source of electricity has been disconnected form the cable. In the event of misfire, it shall be dealt according to Regulation 177 of CMR 1957. The exploder shall be of an approved type and shall be maintained in perfect working condition. The shot-firer shall be fully appraised to take due precautions for the high voltage output of the exploder while handling the same. The cable for shot-firing shall be of an approved type and adequate of the maximum voltage output of the exploder. All connections between the shot-firing cable and the detonator leads as well as between the consecutive leading wires shall be adequately insulated.

MATERIAL TRANSPORT SYSTEM At present coal from development district of 115SL district & 19XNL district is brought to the surface through a series of Direct Haulages, Endless Haulages & belt conveyors. Presently there is one underground tippler at 46L/2ND of 10th incline for production of 19XNL district & 115SL district of Orient Mine No.1&2. Belt conveyor has been installed in 7th incline for transportation of coal on to surface from 19XNL district & 115SL district (HR Seam-III). Following is the brief description of Belt Conveyor installed at OC-1&2 mine. 1). Trunk belt -02 nos from 7th incline mouth to 13L (Seam-I) & 2ND/57L-86L & 86L-112L (Seam-III) 2). Gate belt – 03 nos from 10L/0D to 57L/0D (Seam-III). 3). Pony belt – 04 nos at 12L/0D, 10L/3D and 46L/0D (Seam-III). At 19XNL district & 115SL district track lines are laid for transportation of coal. While laying the track lines special precaution is being given to make it straight. Tracks are properly ballasted and proper drainage is being provided to make it free from water. Check rails are provided in all the curves. A clearance space of at least one meter had been kept between the tubs and sides of the roadway and between adjacent tracks. Inter coupled Runway switch and stop blocks are provided in all direct haulages. Back Stays are being attached in each set of ascending tubs to prevent danger from backward running of the tubs. In endless haulage tubs rerailers are provided. Adequate nos of friction rollers are provided and kept in free running condition. Sufficient nos of adequate sprags are provided at coupling and decoupling points. Code of haulage signals and notice regarding no of tubs to be attached in a set of tubs are provided in haulage room and at coupling and decoupling points. All transfer points are adequately lighted.

CODE OF PRACTICE FOR USE OF BELT CONVEYOR GENERAL 01.
Conveyor belt shall be of fire-resistant type.
02.
(a)
The installation shall be properly designed, constructed and suited for the duty it is to
perform. (b)
Alloys and metals likely to give incentive sparking shall not be used in
construction of a conveyor installation. 03.
Conveyor roads shall be so made and conveyor so located that the clearance above, below and both sides of the conveyors are sufficient for persons to carry out installation, proper inspection and maintenance of the belt, structure rollers, drums & drive, return and tensioning units and for removal of any spillage.
04.
Conveyor belt shall not be used : (a) When its ends are badly frayed. (b) When it is torn, badly worn or has bad joints.
05.
Anchoring of return structure shall be adequate and independent of the face or roadway supports.
06.
(a) At either end of the conveyor installation, all exposed rotating and forming part of the drive or return or tensioning units shall be kept substantially fenced or guarded so that not person can get caught by the running belt or any moving part. (b) No person shall or shall be permitted to clean or oil any dangerous part whilst the belt is in motion.
07.
(a) Along the length of the conveyor, effective means of signalling shall be provided so that distinct signal can be given to the attendant from any point along its length, to stop the belt of the conveyor. (b) Where conveyor roadway is also used as travelling roadway for persons, signalling arrangements shall be provided on the side of roadway along which persons travel. The travelling passage shall be free from obstruction and it shall not be less than 0.6m. (2 Fit.) Wide between the conveyor and one side.
PRECAUTIONS AGAINST FIRE: 08.
(a) Wood or other inflammable material shall not be used for the support of conveyor structure except for training the belt. (b) Within five meters of the drive head only non-inflammable or fire- resistant shall be used for support.

(a)
No flame lamp shall be kept near the conveyor. (b) Where hydraulic fluid coupling is used, the fluid shall be of fire resistant type. (c) Fusible plug used on fluid coupling shall only be of the type recommended by the manufacture.
10.
Suitable and adequate means of extinguishing fires shall be provided and maintained along the conveyor roads and at the driving unit of every conveyor.
PRECAUTION AGAINST COAL DUST: 11.
At all loading, discharge and transfer points adequate arrangements shall be made to avoid spillage of coal and formation of coal dust.
12.
Adequate provisions shall be made for suppression and removal of coal dust from the conveyor installations and its roadways particular attention shall be paid to places near and around the idlers, rollers, drums, discharge and transfer points, adequate water sprays shall be installed at suitable places on the installation for effective suppression of coal dust.
13.
Coal dust on the conveyor structure and in the conveyor roadway shall be regularly cleaned and unless the coal dust is effective suppressed with water by an effective system of water spray the structure and roadways shall be stone dusted in such a manner that the percentage of incombustible matter in any sample of coal dust taken at any place along the conveyor is not be less than 75.
14.
Adequate precautions shall be taken to prevent overloading of belt and its back slipping.
OPERATION, INSPECTION AND EXAMINATION ETC: 15.
(a) The conveyor shall not be operated except by a competent person who has attained the age of 21 years, and has been duly authorized in writing by the manager. (b) The operator so authorized shall be well conversant with the controls of the drive, signals and the installation in general.
16. (a)
Each conveyor installation shall be regularly inspected once in every 8 hours when in use, for belt slip, fast idlers or rollers, torn belt, frayed ends, non-alignment, heating, flubbing against road or its supports and any other defect not covered above by a competent person appointed and authorized in writing by the manager for other purpose. Every person so appointed shall at the end of the shift record the condition of the conveyor belt and of the installation mentioning clearly and defect, if noticed, in a book kept for the purpose.
(b)
The inspection under clause (a) shall be so made that all external parts of the conveyor are examined.
(c)
Any competent person, other than the persons making inspection as provided in clause (a) noticing any defect in the conveyor installation shall immediate take necessary steps for its rectification and send a report of the same to the senior most official present in the mine.
(d)
In the event of any belt slippage, heating of belt or fire the conveyor shall be immediately stopped by any person noticing such incident and the belt shall not be restarted unless the cause is satisfactorily remedied and an order in writing is given by the manager to that effect.
(e)
Every incident of belt heating, fire or any other serious defect on the installation shall be recorded with its probable cause and it shall be signed by the engineer and countersigned by the manager.
17. 18.
(a) Where the inclination of any conveyor gives rise to danger from slipping, devices shall be used to afford adequate protection against such danger. (a) Every conveyor roller shall be maintained in good working condition and shall be taken out of use at predetermined intervals according to the manufacturer’s recommendation and the working conditions, and it shall be examined, repaired and if necessary, reduplicated before being put into service again. (b) Sufficient stock of spare rollers and idlers shall be kept at the mine to permit the periodical inspection and replacement stated under clause (a). (c) If in the opinion of the joint Director of Mines Safety, the interval referred to in clause (a) is too large and is dangerous he may specify a shorter interval.
19. (a) The erection, maintenance, replacement and repairs of the conveyor shall be under the charge of duly qualified and competent person or engineer appointed in writing by the manager. (b) The person appointed under clause (a) shall make a close examination of the installation particularly of the drive, the return and tensioning units, and of other rollers, idlers, drums etc. once at least in every 24 hours, and record the results there of in a book kept for the purpose. The report shall be signed by the engineer and the manager. 20. (a) Electrical parts of the installation shall be maintained in good condition. (b) A competent electrician appointed in writing by the manager shall once at least in every 24 hours examine every electrical part of the installation, and record the result there of in a book kept for the purpose. (c)
21.
Whenever, a conveyor is re-erected a a new place, the examination under clause 19 (b) and 20 (b) shall be made before the conveyor is put in use. No person shall or shall be allowed to travel or ride on moving conveyor.
MAN RIDING SYSTEM The man riding shall be used in underground of a type approved by the DGMS. Man Riding Hauler System is working at OC-1&2 mine in 10th incline for a distance of 850 mtrs, where the gradient of the seam is about 1 in 5.5 to 6. There is proposal for 2 nd & 3rd phase of Man Riding Chair Lift System for the remaining distance of 3 Kms. ROADWAYS (a) Gradient of roadway shall be smooth as far as possible and shall not be more than 25 deg. (b) The chairlift system shall not interfere with any other transport system such as haulages, conveyors, etc. (c) Proper lighting arrangements shall be provided along the roadway.
PROVISION OF SAFETY DEVICES An over-speed device. A device to prevent the backward movement of the system. Over-travel limit switch shall be provided on either end of the run. Over-stretch device (limit switches) to stop the system in the event of rope stretch. Rope speed indicator in chairlift engine room. Pull chord in the roadway so that the system can be stopped from any point. Various Notice boards at stations. Pre start alarm.
LIMITATION OF USE No material will be transported by chairlift system.
BRAKES: Suitable type of brakes shall be provided to hold the drive pulley stationary when the maximum torque is applied by the engine/motor on either direction.

ROPES: Ropes shall meet the requirements to relevant I.S.S of winding rope of man winding system. The rope for Chairlift system shall be maintained and examined like a winding rope and discarding criteria for the chairlift rope shall be adopted in the same manner. No rope, the breaking strength of which is less than 10 times the maximum static load on it shall be used. The speed of rope shall not exceed 3.0 m/sec. The details of rope, its examination record aforesaid shall be maintained in a bound paged book and shall be signed by competent person, engineer and countersigned by manager.
CHAIR LIFT OPERATOR: The system is operated by a competent person. The persons so appointed shall be referred to as chairlift operator.
DUTY OF CHAIR LIFT OPERATOR Every operator authorized of the chair lift system shall be acquainted and understand Operation and control of man riding system. Related instruction about operation of the system. Code of signal. Before starting the man riding system shall check and ensure that the brake, rope, AVA, signaling, lighting, power pack, drive unit, remote, and safety devices are in perfect working conditions. During checking if any defects come in notice , he shall immediately inform to the concerned foreman or engineer and shall not operate the man riding system, unless the defects has been rectified.

ANTICIPATED IMPACT AND MITIGATION MEASURES: There will be impacts on air, noise, flora and fauna due to mining and its related activities.
1. Air quality impact & control measures The air quality of the OC-2 mine w.r.t SPM , NOx , SO2 , etc. concentration levels is found to be within limits of the prescribed standards at all stations located in core and buffer zones & is being monitored regularly. Therefore no effects either on human being or flora and fauna is found to be observed as suitable mitigation measures are taken to make the operation eco-friendly. The preventive measures in this context is listed below: In Underground-- Regular cleaning of spillages to prevent dust being airborne. Water spraying at transfer points. Regular ventilation survey as per statutory requirement. Adequate firefighting arrangements in the mine. Careful removal of loose coal from the abandoned coal face. Prompt removal of wood cuttings, oil & grease from underground workings.
On the surface-- Black topping of service roads to prevent generation of dust on surface. Water spraying on all roads to minimize dust generation. Mechanized coal transport system. Unmetaled roads are kept from ruts, pot-holes, etc. Greenbelts around infrastructure sites, mine return & colony sites. Schedule of water spraying arrangement--
Water spraying by tanker in underground haul road. Presently the spraying arrangement is carried out weekly, fortnightly & monthly. In some old working areas, spraying is done quarterly. In tippler zone and transfer point area, spraying of water is done by surface water tank.
2. Impact assessment on hydrology & hydro-geology and control measures -On surface water sources There is no significant drainage traversing the area except over land flow slopes.The major impacts are water pollution due to oil & grease, contamination of water bodies due to discharge of mine-effluents and pollution from domestic & sewage effluents. Groundwater aquifers may get disrupted and also due to continuous pumping out of mine water, the water table of the surrounding area may get lowered resulting in scarcity of ground water. Control measures: (i) Domestic waste water is treated in soak pit and septic tank combination provided to each unit. (ii) Treatment of mine discharge water before discharging it to surface water course. (iii) Recycling of treated mine discharge water to achieve “zero discharge” to the extent possible. (iv) Provision of oil & grease trap, provision of drains around coal dump / stock yard.
3. Impact assessment on noise quality and control measures. Impact: Abnormal and loud noise have auditory effect. But, the ambient noise level of OC-2 mine is being monitored regularly. Noise levels are within the limits of the prescribed standard. Control measures: All vibrating machines are mounted on vibration absorbing pads. Enclosure of fan, etc. Adoption of personal protective devices to all persons working in high noise areas. Regular monitoring of noise levels at various points.
4. Impact assessment on blasting vibration and control measures Impacts: Safe blasting measures are adopted .So, there will be no effects on life, property and ambient noise. Control measures: (i) All provisions of coal mines regulations are followed. (ii) Using the particular quantity of explosive as decided as per conditions imposed by DGMS.

SAFETY COMPAIGN IN MINE Various programs under safety campaign have been arranged to create a consciousness among workmen for prevention of accident. A). SAFETY COMPETITION:
To create a healthy competitive spirit among all front line supervisors, chart showing the incidence or accident under different supervisors are prominently displayed on safety notice board, because the supervisors should feel personally about seeing that the work under them is carried out in a safe manner. B). SUGGESTION BOX: One suggestion box has been kept in front of pit office inviting suggestion to improve safety in mines. Suggestions are viewed and are implemented in a phased manner. C). PRIZES: Every year prizes are distributed amongst the workmen, who have accident free records of 15 years during “ANNUAL SAFETY FORTNIGHT”.
D). SAFETY COMMITTEE NOTICE BOARD. A special notice board has been provided in front of pit office to paste minutes of pit safety committee meeting and other safety instruction from safety committee. E). SAFETY SLOGANS, SAFETY POSTERS, MODELS, SAFETY SONGS, BHAJANS & SAFETY DRAMAS. Safety slogans are written on the wall near rest shelter, Lamp cabin,Time Office & other conspicuous places in the mine. Various type of captions (Oriya, Hindi & English) & pictorial safety posters are judiciously displayed at:1). Inner walls of rest shelter. 2). Attendance room. 3). Inner walls of canteen cabin. 4). Inner wall of lamp cabin. 5). Outer walls of Time Office.
Those posters are changed regularly and positions of poster are also changed with every change of poster. Posters out of doors are pasted on the firm smooth steel boards. These are put in front of canteen, rest shelter, lamp cabin in such manner that the visions of maximum number of men fall automatically for at least five second. Posters which are statutorily required giving instructions on the important matters like electric shock, inhalation of gases, fire etc have been permanently displayed.
Safety songs and Bhajans are also arranged at regular interval to promote safety consciousness. Safety bulletin are pasted at various notice board.
An electronic display board has been fixed at 0L of traveling road to apprise the workers of safety tit bits. Safety models depicting safe and unsafe acts are kept at rest shelters, cassettes containing safety caption are played regularly through public address system from pit office to promote safety consciousness. Safety drama is staged every year on the occasion of Mines Safety Awareness Drive.
F). ACCIDENT REPEATER PROGRAMME (ARP). Workers who are involved in two or more accidents are called for counseling to identify the possible problem or inadequate skills that could be corrected.
CODE OF PRACTICE WHILE A PERSON IS INJURED ON DUTY 1. The person getting injury on duty shall forthwith inform to the Mining Sirdar /Overman/Foreman of his shift and and also to the Shift In-charge/Asst.Manager/Concerned Section Engineer/Colliery Engineer through control room or otherwise if he is in a position to do so. 2. If he is not in a position to do so his co-worker forthwith shall send information to the officials as stated in clause I. 3. Mining Sirdar/Overman/Shift in-charge/Asst.Manager/Section Engineer/Colliery Engineer shall arrange for First-Aid and rescue as per situation. They shall inform to Manager/Agent to the mine through control room or otherwise about the injury. 4. If the injured person is required to be shifted to dispensary/central hospital. , the Mining Sirdar/ Overman/Shift In-charge /Asst.Manager/Section Engineer/Colliery Engineer shall arrange Ambulance. The injured person shall be shifted in Ambulance lying him in stretcher under the guidance and supervision of Mining Sirdar/ Overman or other competent person possessing valid First-aid certificate. The injured person shall be carried to dispensary/Central Hospital as per situation. The injured person shall be assisted by the Mining Sirdar/Overman/ Foreman while being carried in Ambulance. 5. IOD SLIP shall be prepared in quadruplicate by Overman/Foreman and countersigned by the Shift Incharge/ Asst.Manager/Section Engineer/Colliery Engineer. Signature of two witness shall also be taken. Two copies of it shall be sent to Dispensary/Central Hospital and one copy each to Manager and Safety Officer. 6. Safety Officer shall ensure the submission of report of injury/accident to all statutory body as per statues. He shall make entry of injury in a Register kept for the purpose. 7. Safety Officer shall make detailed enquiry into the accident leading to injury and submit the report to Manager for needful action.
IMPLEMENTATIONS:a). This code of practice shall be observed by the all persons employed in the mine. b). All concerned officials of this mine shall be responsible to implement it.
