then add the number of times times the letters in each column recur recur for example in column column 1 (numerical value 1) you have A twice, J no times and S once so a value of three , multiply that by one to get a total of 3 (three ones) do that for column 2 , there are no B s no K s and one T so there is a value of one there, multiply it by two and you get a total of 2 (one two) ’
’
do that for column 3 , no C s, one L , no U s so a value of one, multiply that by three , total of three ’
’
column 4 one M multiply one by four four , total of four four column 5 total of five column six ..no letters
Numerology and Tarot Tarot Fiona Dilston Copyright February 09
column 7 ..no letters column 8 one letter , total eight column nine one letter , total nine
then add together 3+2+3+4+5+0+0+8+9 =34 now you need to get a single figure so to get get this you add 3+4=7 7 is then the number for the whole name Alan Smith You can look at just the first name Alan which gives you A=1 + L=3 + A=1 A=1 + N=5 =total 10 add the 1 and the 0 together and that gives you 1 which is the number for Alan Consider the Magician card in the tarot at this point, its number is 1, and its ,for want of a better word, “properties.” “properties.” Also consider the number one and your perceptions perceptions of it. If you look back to the chart you will see Alan has more of the number 1 in his chart than anything else (this wont be the case possibly for another name).
Alan s surname would be worked out the same way, way, the interesting thing with surnames is that they are lost /gained/changed /gained/changed in marriage. It can be an interesting exercise to look at the values for a pre and post marriage name as a whole. Some names have almost better energy for an individual than others. ’
You can look at abbreviations of your name and their values too, also maybe times in your life where you decided to use an abbreviation or the full version or even swap to a middle name or adopt a name. Consider as well confirmation names, nicknames, different spellings of names.
Also as an aside (at least for now) look at the number of times a particular number comes up for you. Alan Smith has more number ones than anything else and no sixes or sevens in his name.

Birth Number Staying with Alan Smith
he was born 01/12/1965
to work out Alan s birth number is slightly simpler than the name we just add the digits across then separate the result into two single numbers that we can then add together to get another single number. ’
0+1+1+2+1+9+6+5= 25
again we need to get a single number to work with
so 2+5=7
It is interesting that at this point we get a seven that was one of the missing numbers in the his name.
What is the significance of seven ?
Perhaps more importantly what is the significance of six that is missing ??? We can t really apply this purposefully to the hypothetical Alan Alan because we know nothing about him but it can be applied to other individuals or a house name for example. ’

..if you had a very long l ong name with lots of middle names and a double barrel surname you might end up with a three digit number , again break that down so that it would add to make a single digit
for example you got 189 1+8+9=18 then breaks down to 1+8=9
Then look at your birthday date and add that across breaking all numbers into single digits then get the final figure and split it into two and add that

Now consider how many times each number has recurred for you and do a tally of each
Note what you have many of or none of ?
or are you indeed spread across the whole range?
If you have numbers/cards that are missing for you look at those and consider how they may apply to you or in fact not apply but be something you might be seeking to include in your life or alternately really don t want. ’
If you are heavily weighted in one or two numbers/cards numbers/cards look at those too and consider how these apply to you and your circumstances.

You might want to make a further table and break down the numbers further into positive and negative qualities but watch that you are not being over judgmental in doing this. Addendum Now just to confuse things (or maybe not) a small addendum , this is perhaps more applicable in tarot ...the number 10 is obviously still there in the tarot as well as the one or ace, ten can be seen as the end of one cycle and the start of another ...it still of course breaks down to the 1 which is the magician who makes things manifest There is also something often mentioned in numerology which is master numbers , the two main ones are eleven and twenty two , it is worth watching out for these occuring in your calculations , to put it in simple terms the eleven can be seen as a higher octave of the two or high priestess where they are perhaps working at a very high level with spiritual energies, it may also appear in the numbers of someone who is struggling and can indicate the need for paying greater attention to the spiritual dimension.
Twenty Twenty two can be seen as the higher octave of four , spiritual mastery and stability without the boredom that can be sometimes attached to the four
