NPU3 C Ethernet Functionality
Graceful Degradation Native Ethernet traffic is distributed over the Packet Links in an RL-IME. If a Packet Link is removed or faulty, the traffic is taken over by the remaining Packet Links in the RL-IME. The traffic takeover is done through Graceful degradation. However, the total link capacity is decreased and traffic with low priority may be discarded to ensure that traffic with high priority is sent.

Head Of Line Blocking prevention (HOLB) HOLB prevention is supported to avoid situations where a congested Ethernet port blocks traffic to other non congested ports. White Lists Individual white lists can be created per port to specify which source MAC addresses MINI-LINK TN can accept on a port. Frames with a source MAC address not on the list will be discarded.
NPU3 C Ethernet Functionality
Storm Protection Filters can be activated per port to prevent flooding of unwanted and hostile traffic. Individual filters are used for broadcast, multicast and destination lookup failure traffic. The filters are specified as frames per second. When the limit is reached, additional frames will be discarded until the frame rate is below the specified threshold.

NPU3 C is exactly the same as NPU3 B only 2 new features were added: 1. Synchronous Ethernet 2. Ethernet Switch Protection And both of them enables enhanced backplane capacity of up to 2 Gbps when an ETU2B or an MMU3 A is positioned in an APU slot in an AMM 2p B, AMM 6p C, or AMM 6p D.
Synchronous Ethernet
Enables propagation of frequency synchronization over electrical LAN ports and optical SFPs. The feature supports full SSM (Synchronization Status Message) handling according to ITU-T G.8264. The SSM handling can be disabled for interfaces not supporting SSM.
Ethernet Switch Protection
Enables protection of the switching function of a MINI-LINK TN that has either two NPU1 C units or two NPU3 C installed. The two NPUs are in a protective configuration with one NPU with an active Ethernet switch and one NPU with a passive Ethernet switch. Both NPUs receive and transmit data through their front ports, but only the NPU with the active Ethernet switch transmits data to other active plug-in units.

Enhanced Radio Link Bonding
Enhanced Radio Link Bonding (EnRLB) enables more efficient use of radio resources in a hop configured for hybrid traffic, that is, packet link and TDM traffic. It is built on an RL-protected configuration where the physical link relies on one of the following: • Frequency diversity (Working Standby) The two radio links are protected according to the working standby schema using two different frequencies. • Polarization diversity (XPIC) The two radio links are protected according to the working standby schema using the same frequency but different polarizations (horizontal and vertical). This is achieved by configuring the two radio links in an XPIC pair.
