2. DASAR TEORI
Mesin bubut (turining machine) adalah suatu jenis mesin perkakas yang dalam proses kerjanya bergerak memutar benda kerja dan menggunakan mata potong pahat ( tools) sebagai alat untuk menyayat benda kerja tersebut. Mesin bubut merupakan salah satu mesin proses produksi yang dipakai untuk membentuk benda kerja yang berbentuk silindris. 3. JENIS-JENIS MESIN BUBUT
Jenis mesin bubut pada garis besarnya diklasifikasikan dalam empat kelompok yaitu : 3.1 Mesin Bubut Ringan Mesin bubut ringan dapat diletakan di atas meja, dan mudah dipindahkan sesuai dengan kebutuhan, Benda kerjanya berdimensi kecil (mini). Jenis ini umumnya digunakan untuk membubut benda-benda kecil dan biasanya biasan ya dipergunakan untuk industri rumah tangga (home industri). Panjangnya mesin umumnya tidak lebih le bih dari 1200 mm, dan karena bebanya ringan dapat diangkat oleh oleh satu orang.

Mesin Bubut Ringan 3.2 Mesin Bubut Sedang Jenis mesin bubut sedang dapat membubut diameter benda kerja sampai dengan 200 mm dan panjang sampai dengan 100 mm cocok untuk industri kecil atau bengkel-bengkel perawatan dan pembuatan komponen. Umumnya Umumnya digunakan pada pada dunia pendidikan atau pusat pelatihan, karena harganya terjangkau dan mudah dioperasikan.

3.3 Mesin Bubut Standar Jenis mesin bubut mesin bubut standar disebut sebagai mesi n bubut standar karena di samping memiliki komponen seperti pada mesin ringan dan sedang juga telah dilengkapi berbagai kelengkapan tambahan yaitu keran pendingin, pendingin, lampu kerja, bak penampung beram dan rem untuk menghentikan mesin dalam keadaan darurat.

4.1 Headstock Kepala tetap (head stock ), ), terdapat spindle utama mesin yang berfungsi sebagai dudukan beberapa perlengkapan mesin bubut diantaranya: cekam ( chuck ), ), kollet, senter tetap, atau pelat pembawa rata ( face plate) dan pelat pembawa berekor (driving plate). Alat-alat perlengkapan tersebut dipasang pada spindel mesin berfungsi sebagai pengikat atau penahan benda kerja yang akan dikerjakan pada mesin bubut.

4.4 Bad Mechine Alas/meja mesin bubut digunakan sebagai tempat kedudukan kepala lepas, eretan, penyangga diam (steady rest ) dan merupakan tumpuan gaya pemakanan pada waktu pembubutan. Bentuk alas/meja mesin bubut bermacam-macam, ada yang datar dan ada yang salah satu atau kedua sisinya mempunyai ketinggian tertentu. Selain itu, alat/meja mesin bubut memilki permukaannya yang sangat halus, rata dan kedataran serta kesejajaranya dengan ketelitian sangat tinggi, sehingga gerakan kepala lepas dan eretan memanjang diatasnya pada saat melakukan penyayatan dapat berjalan lancar dan stabil sehingga dapat menghasilkan pembubutan yang presisi. Apabila alas ini sudah aus atau rusak, akan mengakibatkan hasil pembubutan yang tidak baik atau sulit mendapatkan hasil pembubutan yang sejajar.

4.5 Spindel Speed Selector Tuas pengatur kecepatan digunakan untuk mengatur kecepatan poros transporter dan sumbu pembawa. Ada dua pilihan kecepatan yaitu kecepatan tinggi dan kecepatan rendah. 5. JENIS-JENIS MATA PAHAT/PISAU
Menurut fungsinya, pahat bubut terdapat enam jenis yaitu, pahat bubut rata, sisi/ muka, potong, alur, champer dan ulir. a. Pahat Rata Pahat bubut jenis ini digunakan untuk membubut permukaan rata pada bidang memanjang. Sistem kerjanya adlah dengan menggerakan pahat dari ujung luar benda kerja kearah cekam atau sebaliknya tergantung pahat kanan atau kri.
b. Pahat Sisi/Muka Pahat bubut jenis ini yang digunakan untuk membubut pada permukaan benda kerja. Sistem kerjanya adalah dengan menggerakkan dari tengah benda kerja kearah keluar atau
sebaliknya tergantung dari arah putarannya. c. Pahat Potong Pahat jenis ini digunakan khusus untuk memotong suatu benda kerja hingga ukuran

6. POSISI PISAU MESIN BUBUT
Persyaratan utama dalam melakukan proses pembubutan adalah pemasangan pahat/pisau mesin bubut ketinggiannya harus sama dengan pusat senter. Persyaratan tersebut harus dilakukan dengan tujuan agar tidak terjadi perubahan geometri pada pahat bubut yang sedang digunakan.
