Inner Dharmaraja
3
Invocation and Offerings to Inner Dharmaraja In the long Single-Deity Yamantaka sadhana, after the mantras, generation of the torma as an inner offering, calling forth a small Yamantaka mandala and offering it to Yamantaka, generate Inner Dharmaraja with his entourage inside the little mandala between the white pillars of the east as follows: ... I prostrate to you, terrifying Bhairava Yamantaka. On cushions of variegated lotus, a sun and a harmful cannibal (comes Inner Dharmaraja) standing with your right leg outstretched, having one face and two arms. You have a wrathful face like a furious yakshacannibal spirit and your three eyes, like a mass of flames at the time of the Era of Destruction, glare with the evil eye, your mouth widely agape, your four sharp and fiery fangs bared, your tongue wildly darting about, your eyelashes and moustache blazing intensely and your yellow-brown hair flaring straight upwards, bristling erect. In your right hand you wield (in the air) a cleaver and with your left hold at your heart a skullcup filled with blood. Adorned with human bone ornaments, wearing a moist tigerskin as a lower garment, you are stocky and short, with a bulging belly. In the four directions (around you) in the East is white Yama holding a damaru in your right hand and in your left an arrow with a ribbon, adorned with mirrors. In the South is yellow Yama holding a sword in your right hand and a banner of victory in your left. In the West is red Yama with a wish-granting gem in your right hand and in your left a skullcup filled with nectars. In the North is blue Yama with a staff in your right hand and a lasso in your left. All four of you have the face of an extremely furious buffalo, each with three eyes, four sharp bared fangs, yellow hair bristling erect and five dried human skulls crowning your head. You each have a long hanging necklace of fifty moist heads, are adorned with bone ornaments, stand with your right leg bent and your left outstretched on an ex tremely furious buffalo as a cushion and have your penis standing erect.

OM KALA-RUPA YAMA-RAJA HUM PHAT.
(Repeat many times). OM YAMA RAJA SADO-MEYA, YAME DORU NAYO-DAYA, YADA YONI RA YAKSHEYA, YAKSHE YACCHA NIRA MAYA HUM HUM PHAT PHAT SVAHA. OM BHU-CHARANAM, YA PATALA CHARAYA, MAN KECHARAYA, TA PURVA NIGANAM, KA DAK-SHINA DIGAYA, HUM PASHCHIMANAM, PHAT UTTARA TIGAYA, OM-I, HRIH-YA, SHTRIH-VA, VI-KSHI, KRI-KO, TA-E, NA-A, NA-DE, HUM BHYOH PHAT, SARVA BHUTA-BHYAH. O Karma-Yama, ogresses, dakini-witches, evil spirits, zombies and hosts of those who obey whatever you tell them to do - you who in the presence of the Subduer and Dharma-Lord Manjushri, pledged to ta me the mara-demons and protect the teachings - to a ll of you who are sworn as outer and inner protectors, without an exception, I bow and turn with a wishful mind. O directional protectors, with your entourage, act with enlightening influence to still any interferers of my practice of the sacred Dharma.
Consecration of Offerings to Mahakala OM HRIH SHTRIH VIKRITANANA HUM PHAT. OM SVABHAVA SHUDDHAH SARVA DHARMAH SVABHAVA SHUDDHO HAM.
(Everything) becomes void. While in a state of Voidness, there arise the first syllables of the (Sanskrit) names of each of the material offerings for my wishes to be fulfilled, each adorned with a dot on top. These melt and become the individual offering substances to bind me closer to the deities, as well as wild animals and objects of 5
offerings, beyond imagination, to please the Gurus, Yidams and Mahakala of Quick-Acting Deep Awareness, together with his entourage. Coming before the eyes of the Gurus, Yidams and Mahakala of Quick-Acting Deep Awareness, together with his entourage, they become increased. OM SARVA-VID PURA PURA SURA SURA AVARTAYA AVARTAYA HO, VAJRA SPHARANAM KHAM. (3x) OM ARGHAM, PADYAM, PUSHPE, DHUPE, ALOKE, GANDHE, NAIVIDYA, SHABDA AH HUM. OM RUPA, SHABDA, GANDHA, RASA, SPARSHA AH HUM.
Generation of Mahakala and His Entourage OM HRIH SHTRIH VIKRITANANA HUM PHAT. OM SVABHAVA SHUDDHAH SARVA DHARMAH SVABHAVA SHUDDHO HAM.
Mahakala (Everything) becomes void; in the sense that all things are void of inherent existence. While in a state of Voidness, from a PAM there arises a lotus and from a RAM a sun-disc mandala, on top of which from a GAM there comes a white Ganesh with an elephant’s face, holding a skullcup in his right hand and a turnip in his left, lying on his back with his head showing, facing to his right. On top of him, from a HUM comes a cleaver marked with a H UM, from which light emanates, annihilating all evil ones. This re-collects and the cleaver together with the seed syllable transform into Mahakala of Quick-Acting Deep Awareness, with a body dark blueblack in color, one face, six arms, intensely blazing, extremely wrathful and completely furious. Your facial expression is ever-changing, your four sharp fangs are bared, your three red, round eyes flash like lightning and (your face) is completely contorted with wrinkles of anger. Your yellow-brown hair bristles erect, your moustache and eyelashes intensely blaze like the fires at the end of time, your tongue darting about as you roar like thunder the diabolical chortle HA-HA. In your first right hand you hold a cleaver, in your second a rosary of skulls and with your third you furiously clatter a damaru made of skulls. In your 6
first left hand you hold a skullcup with blood, in your second a trident and in your third a vajra-lasso. The hair on your head is tied up with a blue snake, you have red ones as adornments above your ears, variegated ones as adornments on your shoulders, a white one as a choker-necklace, yellow ones as bracelets, a green one as a hanging necklace and white ones as a sash and as anklets. You have a moist tiger-skin as a lower garment tied with a sash of green silk. Your belly bulges greatly and your stocky limbs have an unbearably bright glare. Five dried human skulls crown your head and you have a long hanging necklace of fifty moist heads dripping with blood. Your forehead is smeared all over with vermilion red powder and an Akshobhya crowns your head. All your arms and legs are extensively adorned with jingling bells. You wear as a cloak a moist elephant-skin and you stand in the midst of a huge inferno of flames in a dancing pose with right leg bent and left outstretched.
Palden Lhamo To your left, from a BHYOH comes (Palden Lhamo, Remati), the Sole Mother, Lady of the Desire Realm, with a body black in color, one face and two arms, with your right wielding in the sky an intensely blazing sword and your left holding at your heart a moist skullcup still with its scalp of hair and filled with blood. From your gaping mouth your fangs are bared, and your threeeyed face is completely contorted with wrinkles of anger. The crown of your black hair which bristles erect is adorned with peacock feathers. The upper part of your body is cloaked with a moist elephant-skin and your lower garment of cloth made from hair is tied with a black snake as a sash, with thousands of tassels. Your body is adorned with drops of human blood, streaks of human grease and dabs of the great ashes (of cremated corpses) and from the center of your navel there shines a sun. You ride on a mule with a white patch on its forehead and are surrounded by tens of millions of flesh-eating dakini-witches.
7
Kshetrapala In front of Mahakala, in the midst of countless cannibals, from a KSHIM comes Kshetra-pala, with a body dark blue-black in color, one face and two arms. Your mouth gapes open and your fangs are bared, causing enemies to cry out in anguish. Your three eyes are red, round and glare with the evil-eye at enemies and interferers. In your right hand your wield in the air a cleaver to cut the jugular veins of enemies and interferers, and in your left hand you hold up a skullcup with which you feed the blood from the hearts of enemies and interferers to the mouth of the main figure (Mahakala). Your yellow-brown hair bristles erect, you are crowned with dried human skulls, are extremely terrifying and hideous in form. You ride on a mad black bear and stand in the midst of an extremely fiery blaze of flames.
Jinamitra To the right of Mahakala, on cushions of a lotus, a sun and a corpse, from a JIM comes the lordly Jina-mitra, with a body maroon in color, with the form of a yaksha cannibal-spirit, one face and two arms. With your right hand you clatter (up in the air) a damaru made of skulls and in your left hold up a skullcup of blood.
8
Takkiraja To the rear of Mahakala, on cushions of a lotus, a sun and a corpse, from a TAM comes the Yamadevil Takki-raja, with a body dark blue-black in color, stealing the lives of enemies and interferers with merely a glance. You have one face and two arms with your right clattering (up in the air) a large damaru-type drum make of skulls, and your left fully outstretched in a threatening mudra.
Trakshad To the left of Palden Lhamo, from a TRAG comes the mara-demon Trakshad, black, one face and two arms, with your right wielding in the air a lance with a red banner and your left holding at your heart a skullcup of blood. You wear a cloak of blue glossy silk dabbled with variegated colors and ride on a horse which is jet-black and white. All three of you are extremely wrathful and terrifying, and stand in the midst of an extremely fiery blaze of flames, each surrounded by an entourage of hundreds of thousands of cannibals and evil ones.
9
Beyond all these, in the ten directions are the ten directional protectors like Indra and so forth. In addition, there is an entourage of the eight great gods, the eight great naga-serpents, the eight great planet-deities, the four world-guardians, the twenty-eight constellation-goddesses, the nine great terrifying ones, the seventy-five protecting Mahakalas of the faction of the clean, together with hosts of spirits of the Three Realms of existence. Beyond all these is an army-horde of a sea of oath-bound ones, who feast on flesh, delight in blood, are merciless, wrathful, fierce, hideous in color, faces contorted (with wrinkles of anger), bloodshot eyes, mouths gaping, fangs bared, holding various weapons, able in an instant to draw the lifebreath out of every living creature and completely filling the earth, the sky and the space between. The main central figure and everyone in your entourage has a white OM on his forehead, a red AH on his throat and a blue HUM at his heart. Rays of blue light from the Hum at my heart in an instant draw forth to this place the glorious Mahakala and host of his deities, together with his entourage, from the cremation grounds of Sil-wai tsal, the Grove of Chills, to the southeast and from the vicinity of Tzan-dan kang-chig-pa, the Land of Sandalwood Trees. In the Great Cremation Grounds of the Grove of Chills, in the center of a mandala blazing like the fires of the Fearsome Eon, is Mahakala, the great powerful one, surrounded by eight classes of ogresses and dakini-witches, black and horrible beyond imagination. Countless black and white goddesses and all appearances of worldly beings are your slaves. All Three Realms are your entourage. Wiser than all the haughty, arrogant ones, you flash in an instant like lightning throughout thousands, millions and billions of worlds, smashing to dust hateful enemies and interferers. We practitioners, who have a close bond with you, beseech you to remember what you promised before the eyes of the past and present Buddhas and to come to this place where we continually maintain this close bond, where the outer, inner and secret reliances are complete and where there is a mountain-like torma offering cake with an ocean of blood swirling around it like a sea of nectar. By my faith and your close bond, please come here, O great Mahakala. I beseech you to come to this mandala-site. O cannibal-host who are your obedient entourage, such as Kshetra-pala and so forth, I beseech you to come, O oath-bound ones who promised to safeguard the teachings. OM SHRI MAHA-KALA-YE SAPARI-VARA E-HYE-HI. KSHIM.
(Repeat this syllable many times, visualizing hordes of Mahakalas and entourage coming from the Cremation Grounds and dancing over your visualized symbolic ones, clattering their damarus, clanging their bells and so on). 10
JAH HUM BAM HOH.
You become non-dual with your symbolic counterparts. PADMA KAMA-LAYE STVAM.
Praise and Offerings Without ever wavering from the state of the Void Sphere of All Things and with your wrathful body which subdues all who are unruly, you destroy the rudra-egomaniacs who would misuse the teachings. To you, O Mahakala, I offer prostrations and praise. OM SHRI MAHAKALA SAPARI-VARA ARGHAM, PADYAM, PUSHPE, DHUPE, ALOKE, GANDHE, NAIVIDYA, SHABDA PRATICCHA HUM SVAHA. I offer to the mouth of my precious and kind root Guru, who is the essence of the entire body, speech and mind, good qualities and enlightening influence of all the Buddhas of the ten directions and three times, who is the source of eighty-four thousand groups of teachings and who is the lord of all the Sangha community of Arya Noble Ones - OM AH HUM. Furthermore, to the Gurus together with their lineages who confer empowerments, explain the tantras and give verbal guidelines - OM AH HUM. OM YAMANTAKA HUM PHAT - OM AH HUM. Furthermore, to the mouths of the Vira-Heroes, Dakinis, Dharmapala Protectors, Guardians of the Teachings of the Three Realms, together with deities of places and lords of the earth - OM AH HUM.
Requests At the crown of Maha kala’s head comes my kind root Guru, with a body yellow in color, with the brilliance of hundreds of thousands of suns. In your right hand you hold at your heart a wish-granting gem and in your left hand you clasp a golden bell. Sitting with your left leg in the vajra-posture, you are arrayed with invaluable ornaments of precious jewels. From your body, which has come from the nature of Vajradhara and all the lineage Gurus, light-rays emanate, striking Mahakala, whereby he blazes in the nature of light and bliss. He dances “wur-wur sil-sil,” and from Mahakala’s body light-rays emanate and strike my Guru, so t hat shimmering “mer-mer” in the nature of light, he tolls his bell. My Guru is Mahakala; Mahakala is my Guru; my Guru and Mahakala become inseparable. I and all sentient beings as extensive as the bounds of space make requests to my kind and precious root Guru with the nature of the four Buddhabodies. 12
(Repeat this 3x while visualizing rays of yellow light emanating from your Guru and innumerable tiny Mahakalas emanating from Mahakala, both filling your body, dancing about inside and clearing out all sickness and harm from your body). NA-MO. From the glorious and holy root and lineage Gurus residing in the ten directions and the three times, I request inspiration. From the Yidams together with the hosts of their mandala-deities, I request inspiration. From all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, I request inspiration. From the Vira-Heroes, Virini-Heroines and Yoginis, I request inspiration. O hosts of deities of the glorious Six-Armed Mahakala of Deep awareness, let there be no obstacles to your deep awareness. Let there be no impedance to your powers and abilities. Let there be no postponement in your compassion. Let your inspiration and blessings have no (discrimination between) near and far. Inspire me through the gateways of your unbearably horrid body, speech, mind, good qualities and enlightening influence. Inspire me right now! Inspire me immediately! Inspire me on this very spot!
Purification At the crown of Maha kala’s head comes my kind root Guru, with your body white in color, holding in your right hand a crystal five-spoked vajra at your heart, your left hand in meditative pose holding a skullcup fil led with nectar and sitting with your feet in the vajra-posture. An immeasurable burst of light-rays emanates from your body and this burst of light-rays emanated from your heart bring forth in the space before you hosts of deities of vajra body, speech and mind. OM VAJRA SATTVA SAMAYA MANU PALAYA, VAJRA SATTVA TVENO PATISHTA, DIRDHO ME BHAVA, SUTOSHYO ME BHAVA, SUPOSHYO ME BHAVA, ANURAKTO ME BHAVA, SARVA SIDDHIM ME PRAYACCHA, SARVA KARMA SUCHA ME, CHITTAM SHRIYAM KURU HUM, HA HA HA HA HOH BHAGAVAN, SARVA TATHAGATA, VAJRA MA ME MUNCHA, VAJRA BHAVA MAHA SAMAYA SATTVA AH HUM PHAT. (21x)
(Repeat 7x while visualizing from white deities of vajra body, red of vajra speech and blue of vajra mind, white, red and blue hundred-syllable mantras respectively emanate and strike the three syllables OM AH HUM on your Guru’s body, speech and mind, purifying him of all degenerated commitments. Repeat another 7x while visualizing from these three spots on your Guru the same emanation 13
of mantras to syllables on the three spots of Mahakala, similarly purifying him. Repeat yet another 7x while visualizing from these three spots of Mahakala the same emanation of mantras to syllables on the three spots of yourself as Yamantaka and of everyone in his entourage doing the same purification. At the end feel yourself filled with the three-colored rays of light and purified of all obstacles, black karmic debts and degenerated commitments).
Confession HUM! O Vajradhara, Glorious Shawari, Maitri, Rahu, Yogi, Ratna and Dharma Sinha, Dharma Prajna and so on, you eight precious Gurus, pay me heed. I openly declare and confess that not realizing that the Buddhas of the three times and Gurus of the lineage, who can grant the hopes, wishes and what is of benefit for all beings, are all of the Dharmakaya with double purity, I have come under the sway of understanding them to be worldly. O hosts of outer, inner and secret deities of body, speech, mind, good qualities and enlightening influence, please pay me heed. I openly declare and confess that having entered the gateway of the supreme Mantra Vehicle, I have acted contrary to the root and branch vows and let them degenerate. O Six-Armed Mahakala of Deep awareness, with sublime enlightening influence of power, might and ability, who the moment you are remembered remove all interference and bestow actual attainments without a truly existent joining or parting, please pay me heed. I openly declare and confess that having gathered, in cremation grounds, thick forests, on river islands and in border regions, the outer and inner reliances and material offerings to bind us closer, I came under the sway of laziness and mental wandering and did not properly accomplish my retreats, offerings for my wishes to be fulfilled and making of confession. And especially I openly declare and confess that concerning the secret reliance and t he peerless, supreme (reliance), namely the Body of Great Bliss of you, my inseparable Guru and Mahakala, I have not realized with inseparable conviction and loving respect, that you are the pure Dharmakaya. Ashamed and with a regretful mind, I openly declare and confess before your eyes, supreme deities, whatever I have done, under the sway of being confused by a lack of awareness, that has been contradictory to your body, speech and mind, O Guru Mahakala and your entourage. O Kshetra-pala, Jina-mitra, Takki-raja, Trakshad and Remati, ten directional protectors and (Mahakalas of) the faction of the clean - all you who act as messengers of the actions of explaining and practicing with deep awareness, please pay me heed. I openly declare and confess that when you have unwaveringly enacted your enlightening influence toward me in accordance with your oaths just as you have promised, I have not presented 14
you at such a time of thanksgiving with an offering tsog of flesh and blood tormas or with my confident faith. I openly declare and confess that, not realizing the faults and mistakes because I lack extra-sensory powers, I have befriended and disclosed the secrets to t hose who would cause the teachings to disintegrate and to bodily enemies of the Gurus, instead of annihilating them with wrathful, violent actions. With remorse and shame, I openly declare and confess, whatever masses of confu sed faults and mistakes I have committed such as letting myself be contaminated by those who would cause my commitments to generate, engaging with such ones in conversation and eating meals with them, as well as making miserly offerings of inferior quality, neglecting to offer you the first portion, making mistakes in my meditations and mantra-recitations and so on. Having made this confession in order to cleanse away degenerations and contaminations, I request you, O Guru Mahakala and your entourage, to be as patient as a father or a mother for their naughty chi ld and bestow on me all actual attainments at this time. Although confession and things to be confessed cannot be aimed at as having true existence, yet, in order to purify myself of the instincts of the prejudiced thoughts (that would grasp at such true existence), may I, by strongly confessing to you supreme, holy and venerable objects, attain Great Bliss.
Offerings for One’s Wishes to Be Fulfilled HUM! By the power of the root and lineage Gurus, the Three Supreme Ones, the words of the Victorious Buddhas, the secret mantras, the awareness mantras, the single-minded samadhis and mudras, and by the truth of the naturally pure Void Sphere of All Things, may a mass of appropriately obtained offering substances to bind us closer, as well as outer and inner offerings fill the earth, the sky and all the space in between, to confer uncontaminated Bliss and grant all wishes. By this moist elephant-hide, tiger-skin, garland of human heads, the six types of mudra-ornaments and this smear of vermilion red powder, the supreme substance of the dakinis, fulfill my wishes, O Mahakala of QuickActing Deep Awareness. By this drink of purified, generated and increased Bodhichitta which generates astounding happiness and is a supreme nectar collecting the essence of thousands of stimulating intoxicants, fulfill my wishes, O Mahakala of Quick-Acting Deep Awareness. By these thirteen black steeds with the strength of clouds, able in an instant to circle the four continents, ample in flesh, with beautiful manes, ribbons adorning their ears and a stunning moon-like white spot on their foreheads, fulfill my wishes, O Mahakala of Quick-Acting Deep Awareness.
16
By these thirteen great shaggy yaks covered with long hair as if with clouds, having sharp and lofty pointed vajra-horns and bellowing with violent roars, fulfill my wishes, O Mahakala of Quick-Acting Deep Awareness. By these thirteen black sheep with white tufts on their heads, sex organs unimpaired, four beautifully rippled and well-curved horns and coats of soft, excellent wool, fulfill my wishes, O Maha kala of Quick-Acting Deep Awareness. By these thirteen black garuda-like eagles, shrieking with violent cries, lightning flashing from their mouths and having vajra-beaks and talons to tear out the hearts of fiends, fulfill my wishes, O Mahakala of Quick-Acting Deep Awareness. By these thirteen black mastiff dogs with white fur by their hearts, pouncing like bears with wide-opened mouths, fangs bared and a terrifying bark, savagely beautiful with various ornaments, fulfill my wishes, O Mahakala of Quick-Acting Deep Awareness. Furthermore, by this supreme cloud of actually arrayed and mentally created seven precious things, five desirable sensory objects, outer and inner offering substances, the Four Continents, Mount Meru and so on, fulfill my wishes, O Mahakala of Quick-Acting Deep Awareness. By this blood-red torma offering cake piled like a mountain, decorated with numerous maroon ribbons and blessed by samadhi, mantra and mudra, fulfill my wishes, O Mahakala of Quick-Acting Deep Awareness. By this inner reliance of a thunder-like arrow to speed like lightning to the center of the hearts of enemies and interferers, pliant and straight, adorned with great vulture-feathers and having a black ribbon hanging from its shaft inscribed with the life-mantra, fulfill my wishes, O Mahakala of Quick-Acting Deep Awareness. By this secret reliance of the heart of a hero killed by weapons in battle, with the three channels unimpaired, completely filled with powdered jewels, excellent medicines and (written) mantras, and then generated and blessed, fulfill my wishes, O Maha kala of Quick-Acting Deep Awareness. By this supreme, peerless reliance of realizing that even though displaying a violent body that could devour the Three Realms, it is an illusion-like body of appearance and Voidness inseparable from all the root and lineage Gurus, and thus making plaintive requests, fulfill my wishes, O Mahakala of Quick-Acting Deep Awareness. Sole Mother, Palden Lhamo, fulfill my wishes. Four murdering cannibals, fulfill my wishes. Oath-bound Dharmarajas, father and mothers, fulfill my wishes. Sea of oath-bound obedient servants, fulfill my wishes. Having, together with your entourage, fulfilled my wishes, restore everything deficient with us yogis and our teachers. Before me on top of cushions of a lotus, sun and moon, (you appear) with the color of a snow mountain, with a wrathful, lustful, gloating stance, jeweled ornaments and clothes of heavenly scarves, haughtily standing with each of your two equidistant legs on top of Ganeshes. Of your six hands, the first (two) hold a vase of jewels to bestow in plenty all wished-for actual attainments without exception; the middle (two) a cleaver and trident to free us from enemies and interferers and the last (two) a large damaru-type drum and hook to gather in the Three Realms. By praising and entrusting myself to your enlightening influence, you ocean-like host of oath-bound ones who accomplish all pacifying, increasing, controlling and wrathful actions, I request you spontaneously to grant all the aims that I wish for. I offer you flowers, incense, illuminating butter lamps, perfume, food, music, the five desirable sensory objects, seven precious things, together with Mount Meru and the Four Continents, and a massive tsog of outer, inner and secret offerings. And this gigantic, amazing, uncontaminated nectar of the five meats and five nectars, purified, transformed and increased inside a skullcup broad as a thousand, million, billion worlds, I likewise offer to you, O Glorious (White) Mahakala, together with your entourage. OM GURU MAHAKALA HARINISA SIDDHI DZAH.
(Repeat many times).

Requests to Six-Armed Mahakala to Accept the Offerings and Fulfill One’s Wishes HUM! O Mahakala, Lord of the ten Bodhisattva stages, although there is nothing definite about where you must reside, yet for appearance’s sake for individual beings you appear to the south of Bodh Gaya in the Great Cremation Grounds of Sil-wai tsal, the Grove of Chills, in this supreme place of fearsome things - with the howls of yama-devils “d’i-ri-ri,” the violent shrieks of the ogresses “kyu-ru-ru,” oceans of blood swirling “ky’il-lili,” rendered butter of human fat glimmering “lhab-se-lhab,” the smoke of singed human flesh billowing “ch’il-li-li,” the stomping dances of the male mara-demons thundering “ch’em-se-ch’em,” the circle dances of the female mara-demonesses swirling “gor-ro-ro,” human thighbone trumpets blaring “kyu-ru-ru,” wild beasts of prey roaring “wu-ru-ru,” the blaze of great lightning flashing “ky’ug-se-ky’ug,” the violent crash of thunder roaring “ch’em-se-ch’em,” thunderbolts and great hailstones plummeting “shara-ra” and the ground shaking with the eerie cackles of hordes of marademons and cannibal spirits - in such a supreme and holy place. O you whose fearsome body has one face, six arms, mouth agape, tongue dar ting, palate smacking, three eyes blazing like the fires at the end of time, stocky limbs furious and dazzling, the thunder-like roar of the violent cry “HUM,” the color of black medicinal eyeliner sparkling like Mount Meru, you have the boom of terrifying laugher “KSHIM-KSHIM,” a cleaver, a rosary of skulls and a clattering large damaru-like drum, a skullcup of blood, a trident and lasso to fling, and who dances with the jingling ring of bells, pray come here together with your entourage of the Sole Mother who dominates over all the ogresses, the four murdering, butchering yaksha-cannibals, the directional protectors, the hosts of seventy-five glorious Mahakalas and a sea of oath-bound ones. And please partake of these appropriately obtained offering substances to bind us closer. HUM! By Manjushri you were given the name Vighnana-vinayaka, Slayer of the Powerful Misleading Ganeshes. By Vajrapani you were given the name Mahakala, the great Black One Who Subdues the Nagas. By Yamantaka you were given the name Vajra-vetala, Vajra Zombie, Lord of the Cremation Grounds. Invited by your secret names, pray come here. When invited, do not let your ears be shut. When signaled, do not let your eyes be dull. When called to action, do not let your run be slow. When incited, do not let your strength be weak. When asked to fulfill my wishes, do not let your mind be slack. When made requests, do not let your heart be distant. By this ocean of pleasing material offerings to bring us closer, deficient in neither cleanliness nor completeness, please together with your entourage, fulfill my wishes by this very night. I confess anything deficient I have done. I present you offerings of thanksgiving for carrying out well

your entrusted deeds and make offerings to you now in conjunction with presently entrusting you with (further) actions. Please enact this enlightening influence entrusted to you. HUM! I request and beseech you. Bodily enemies of the holy Gurus, fiends who would cause the teachings to disintegrate and commitments to generate, black forces of evil as well as mara-demons and interferers who cause interruptions are causing staunch upholders of the mandalas to leave them! Some are causing the teachings of the Sage Buddha to disintegrate! Some are causing interference to the yogis’ explaining and practicing! Some are causing the staunch upholders of the wheel of Dharma to fall apart! We yogis, together with our entourage as well as the monastic community of human-jewels - take care of us! Look after us! Don’t let your strength be weak! For three days never waver from being our guard. For three nights never waver from being our watchman. Turn back adverse conditions and bring about conditions that are ever conducive! From the palace of the expansive Dharmakaya, O Great Deity Mahakala with your entourage, please accept these appropriately obtained material offerings to bind us close and turn back for us yogis, our teachers and their entourage, the evil thoughts and actions of others, as well as bewitching grasses and bewitching seeds. Turn back the evil spirits’ bewitching skulls. Turn back the spinning of Yama’s wheel. Turn back the mara-demons displaying of charts with lines marking victims of intended doom. Turn back the ogresses’ bewitching blood. Turn back the red dyes of (the black magicians of) Zhang-zhung. Turng back the monks’ bewitching mantras. Turn back the bewitching horses of the B’on-pos. Turn back the bewitching eggs of the sorcerers. Turn back the interruptions caused by Tirthika fanatics. Turn back the fiendish disasters brought on by evil mantras. Turn back calamities instigated through naga-serpents. Turn back the demonic ghosts’ plundering like ghouls. Turn back the ghost kings’ driving us mad. Turn back the subterranean monsters that come with the (bad) rishi-planets. Turn back the eighty-four ill omens. Turn back the three hundred and sixty accidents caused by ghosts. Turn back nightmares, bad signs, unlucky years, unlucky months and unlucky days of interference, and the four hundred and four kinds of sickness. Turn back interruptions caused by dakini-witches, zombies and kings of the spirit world. BHYOH to all evil-minded ones such as these, and to all hateful enemies! BHYOH to all harmful interferers! HUM! I beseech you to bestow on me at this time all conducive actual attainments without exception. Cause my following, the teachings and my wealth to increase, O host of protectors.

Bringing the Three Realms under Control At the crown of Maha kala’s head comes my kind root Guru himself, with your body red in color, with your right hand clattering at the dakinis a large damaru-type drum made of skulls “tr’ol-lo-lo” and your left hand holding at your heart a skullcup filled with nectars. You sit there with a luster that is hard to bear; just a look from your eye has the ability to gather under your power all dakinis and everyone of the Three Realms of existence. On top of the vermilion red powder on Mahakala’s forehead come thirteen red syllables HRIH with long vowels and two dots after each. These transform into thirteen secret dakinis, red, with one face and two arms, the right one clattering a damaru and the left holding a skullcup filled with nectars. With the dancing pose of their right legs bent and left outstretched, they become thirteen dancing, whirling globes of red. From my Guru’s body a flood of rays of red light is emitted, which strike Mahakala and the dakinis, causing the dakinis to clatter their damarus furiously and stare into space “hrig-hrig” with their three wide-open eyes, and Mahakala as well to clatter his damaru and jingling bells, to stare into space “hrig-hrig” with his three wide-open eyes and to roar from his mouth the diabolical chortle “HA-HA.” From every part of the dancing bodies of Mahakala and the dakinis, rays of red light are emitted like hooks, pervading everywhere throughout the Three Realms collecting all sentient beings under their power and causing everything desired and needed to fall like rain. OM VAJRA NARA KSHIM KSHIM HUM HUM PHAT PHAT SVAHA.
(Repeat 108x while visualizing as above).

OM VAJRA MAHAKALA KSHIM KSHETRA VIGHNANA VINAYAKA HUM HUM PHAT PHAT SVAHA.
(Repeat 108x, visualizing light going from your heart as Yamantaka to the seedsyllable HUM and mantra rosary rotating clockwise around it at Mahakala’s heart, and then light rays from his heart emitting everywhere tiny Mahakalas performing various actions). OM GURU MAHAKALA HARINISA SIDDHI DZAH.

(Everything) becomes void. Within a state of Voidness, from a YAM comes a blue bow-shaped wind mandala marked with banners, on top of which from a RAM comes a red triangular fire mandala. On top of that, from AHs comes a grate of three human heads, on top of which from AH comes a white skullcup. Inside it, • In the East, from a BHRUM comes the flesh of a bull marked with a GO • In the South, from an AM, comes the flesh of a dog marked with a KU • In the West, from a JRIM comes the flesh of an elephant marked with a DA • In the North, from a KHAM comes the flesh of a horse 23
marked with a HA • And in the Center, from a HUM, comes the flesh of a human marked with a NA • In the Southeast, from a LAM, comes feces marked with a VI • In the Southwest, from a MAM, comes blood marked with a RA • In the Northwest, from a PAM, comes white bodhichitta marked with a SHU • In the Northeast, from TAM, comes marrow marked with a MA • And in the Center, from a BAM, comes urine marked with a MU On top of this are a white OM, a red AH and a blue HUM stacked one on top of the other. From the HUM at my heart light-rays emanate, striking the wind, whereby the wind moves, the fire blazes and the substances inside the skullcup melt and boil. From the three syllables, light-rays emanate in order, hooking back Vajra-Body, Vajra-Speech and Vajra-Mind, which dissolve in order into the three syllables. These then fall into the skullcup and melt. By means of the HUM, the faults of color, odor and potential are cleansed. By means of the AH, it is transformed into nectar. By means of the OM, it is increased and becomes huge. OM AH HUM. (3x)
From a HUM on the tongue of Mahakala together with each member of his entourage comes a red single-spoked vajra with a straw of light through which each partakes (of the offering), sucking in the torma-cake through the straw of light, satisfying each of their mind-streams with uncontaminated Bliss. HUM.
(Repeat forcefully 6x with an elaborate visualization to be learned from the Guru, and then offer the torma first to Mahakala, then Palden Lhamo, each of the four cannibals in turn and finally to the rest of the entourage with the following mantras respectively, after which present them with outer and inner offerings:) OM VAJRA MAHAKALA KSHIM KSHETRA VIGHNANA VINAYAKA HUM HUM PHAT PHAT IDAM BALINTA KHA-KHA KHAHIKHAHI. Wrathful Actions (Visualize all enemies between your hands and repeat:) By having presented this torma offering-ca ke to you, Guru Mahakala and your entourage, please free us, O Great Black Mahakala, from those who belittle and despise the Enlightened State of the Three Precious Gems, those who criticize the Great Vehicle Mahayana, those who make schisms within the teachings and cause them to disintegrate, those who vie against the Gurus’ bodies and those who hate us yogis. Enemies, interferers - AMUKA MARAYA PHAT! (Clap once, completely smashing these enemies). 25
Praises HUM! I prostrate to you, O Quick-Acting Avalokiteshvara, your feet with their anklets crush the misleading Ganesh. O Mahakala, Great Black One with a tiger-skin as a lower garment, you have six arms and are adorned with snakes as ornaments. In your (first) right hand you hold a cleaver, in the middle one a rosary and in your lower one a damaru which you furiously clatter. In your left hands you hold a skullcup, trident-spear and likewise a lasso which you use to bind. Your wrathful face has fangs bared, three wrathful eyes and hair blazing erect. Your forehead is smeared all over with vermilion red powder. The crown of your head is firmly adorned with a kingly Akshobhya. You wear a long hanging necklace of fifty human heads dripping with blood, and your head is adorned with five dried skulls having crowns with jewels. To you, O Glorious Six-Armed One, who have come from your field to accept this torma, I prostrate and offer praise. Protect all staunch upholders of the Buddha’s teachings. Praise all staunch upholders of the Enlightened State of the Three Precious Gems. Pacify all unfavorable conditions and interferences for us, our teachers and their entourage. I beseech you, please, to grant quickly the actual attainments just as we wish. BHYOH! In a mandala circle of blazing flames like the first of the eon, in a palace of black wind swirling, twirling “tsub-mar-tsub” is the Sole Mother (Palden Lhamo), Remati, the Lady of the Desire Realm, with a body black in color like a thunder cloud, head adorned with skulls, a snow-lion prancing on her right ear, her left hooded with a coiling snake, three eyes red with anger, mouth agape and fangs bared. To you, O Terrifying Goddess Lha-mo, I offer praise. Your right hand has a blazing sword to cut the lives of enemies, and your left a moist skullcup with blood from (enemies’) hearts to drink as a sign of victory. The upper part of your body is cloaked with a flayed human skin tied with a black snake as a cord. Around the lower part of your body is a moist elephant-hide wrapped with cloth made of hair. Because you travel throughout all three - the thousand, million, billion worlds - you ride upon a mule with three legs (on the ground, and right front one raised), with (a saddle made of) the upper jaw-bones of cannibals spirits, with a club having notches marking your victims of intended doom tied on in front (and worn in your sash), with black sna kes as a bridle and reins and a sack of plagues (hanging down in front). BHYOH to your enemies! Please accept this torma offering-cake and free me from enemies and interferers. Enact without exception the enlightening influence entrusted to you. BHYOH! When I have gladly accepted all difficulties and invoked you, O Sole Mother Remati, don’t be slack, don’t be slack. When I have set up my body and life as a target and invoked you, and now when I serve you, O Sole Mother, do not let your heart be distant. When I have caused an ocean of blood to swirl and invoked you, and now when called to action, O Sole 26
Outer Dharmaraja

Mother, do not let your run be slow. When I have amassed a mountainlike torma offering-cake and invoked you, and now when incited, O Sole Mother, do not let your strength be weak. O your servant, the mischievous evil Crocodile-Headed One, free me from enemies and interferers. O your follower, the Lion-Headed One, cut the jugular vein on fiends who would cause my commitments to degenerate. O Sole Mother, Palden Lhamo, together with your entourage, having accepted this torma cake of red flesh and blood, I beseech you please turn back adverse conditions and interruptions and grant the conducive actual attainments without exception. HUM! O hosts of messengers obedient to Glorious Mahakala, namely Kshetra-pala, Jina-mitra, Takki-raja, Trakshad and Remati, you ten directional protectors, hosts of Mahakalas of the faction of the clean and oath-bound guardians - all of you, please accept this torma-cake that has been blessed, and, without ever transgressing your commitments to GuruMahakala, guard and protect the Buddha’s teachings. Annihilate into dust, without exception, all enemies and interferers with hateful and evil minds toward us yogis, our teachers and their entourage, and cause all conducive conditions of followers, wealth, explanation and practice, to increase like the waxing moon. HUM! BHYOH! O army hosts of a sea of oath-bound ones, cut from their source all previous enemies, pull out from their roots future enemies’ minds, pound to dust all present fiends and plunder all forces of evil spirits and interferers. Eliminate adverse conditions and interruptions for us, our teachers and their entourage. Grant the conducive actual attainments without exception and cause followers, teachings and wealth to increase, O hosts of oath-bound ones.
Invocation of Outer Dharmaraja Before me, on top of a lotus, sun and buffalo comes a YA which transforms into a skullcup marked with a YA. Light-rays emanate from it, annihilating all enemies, interferers and evil ones, then collects back and dissolves into the skullcup, which transforms into black Karma-Yama with one head, two arms and a buffalo’s face with three round, bloodshot eyes. In his right hand he holds a skullcup and in his left a lasso. His orange hair bristles upwards and his red penis stands erect. To his left, from a CHAM and then a trident, comes black Chamundi, with one face and two arms holding a trident in her right and a skullcup in her left. They are encircled with an entourage of male and female messengers of Yama, the Lord of Death, such as Yavati and so on. Each of the main figures, and their entourage is marked on the crown of his or her head with a white OM, at the throat with a red AH and at the heart with a blue HUM. From the HUM at my own heart, light-rays emanate, bringing forth from seven levels beneath the earth in the East, Karma-Yama, father and mother, together with their entourage. 28
OM KALARUPA SAPARI-VARA EHYEHI. JAH HUM BAM HOH.
They become non-dual (with the ones I have visualized). Once again from the HUM at my heart, light-rays are emitted, bringing forth the Yamantakas of the five Buddha-families. “I request you please to confer the empowerment upon him.” Having thus been requested, they hold up vases filled with the nectar of deep awareness, saying “OM VAJRA BHAVA ABHISHINCHA HUM,” they confer the empowerment on the crown of his head, purif ying his stains. From the excess water that pushes out upwards a black five-spoked vajra comes to adorn his head. OM KALARUPA SAPARI-VARA SAMAYA STVAM.
(At this point, one may recite the mantras of Outer Dharmaraja and Chamundi if one wishes:) OM KALARUPA HUM PHAT.
OM CHAMUNDI HUM PHAT.
29
Offerings and Praise to Outer Dharmaraja From a HUM on the tongues of Dharma-raja, father and mother and each of their entourage, there comes a white single-spoked vajra through which each partakes (of the offerings) drawing up the essence of the tormacake through a straw of white light. OM KALA-RUPA SARVA VIGHNANA SHATRUM MARAYA IDAM BALINTA KHA-KHA KHAHI KHAHI HUM PHAT. OM CHAMUNDI SARVA VIGHNANA SHATRUM MARAYA IDAM BALINTA KHA-KHA KHAHI KHAHI HUM PHAT.
OM hosts of male and female messengers of Yama such as Yavati and so forth, together with your entourage, SARVA VIGHNANA SHATRUM MARAYA IDAM BALINTA KHA-KHA KHAHI KHAHI HUM PHAT. OM KALA-RUPA SAPARI-VARA ARGHAM, PUSHPE, DHUPE, ALOKE, GANDHE, NAIVIDYA, SHABDA PRATICCHA HUM SVAHA. OM KALA-RUPA HUM PHAT, OM AH HUM. OM CHAMUNDI HUM PHAT, OM AH HUM.
O hosts of male and female messengers of Yama, such as Yavati and so forth, together with your entourage, OM AH HUM. HUM! O Yama, Black Lord of Death, seven levels beneath the earth in the East, you have come here transforming from a club marked with a skull that came from a YA. You have the face of a buffalo, furious from his depths, with your ravenous mouth stretched open, and fangs bared. Your wrathful eyes are bloodshot from their base, your yellow hair and moustache bristle erect. With the lasso in your left hand, you bind enemies and interferers; and with the club in your right, you pound them to dust. O Dharma-raja, hosts of Yamas, Chamundi the Great Ogress holding a trident and skullcup of blood, as well as your servants, the time has come. Accept this ocean-like torma offering cake made of human flesh, blood and grease. Out of compassion and your commitments prescribed by the Victorious Buddhas, free me quickly from enemies and interferers. With all harmful enemies, harmful interferers, mara-demons and interruption-makers, seize them, bind them, tie them up! Summon them, drag them and make them your slaves! Slay them, expel them, render them dumb; dismember them, trample them, make them bewildered! Subdue them, destroy them, demolish them fully so that not even an atom of them might remain! OM KALARUPA HUM PHAT. BHYOH CHAMUNDI HUM PHAT.

Praise to Inner Dharmaraja and His Entourage NAMAH SHRI VAJRA BHAIRA-VAYA. O you who with just a stomp of your outstretched and bent legs can make the mighty Mount Meru together with the four mandalas (of the elements) shake “shig-shig” and tumble down, you whose booming diabolical chortles roared from the widely gaping mouth of your ferocious and wrathful buffalo’s face fill completely all Three Realms, you who display a wrathful body for the sake of those who are unfit to be tamed by the Sole Father Manjushri, having bowed to you with respect, O Yamantaka, the Conquering One, and by praising you, O Yamaraja (Inner Dharmaraja), the time has now come for all interferers to beware. In the clamor of an unrelenting roar “wur-wur” like mountains splitting or the ocean churning, in a billowing inferno of violent flames swirling with sooty black smoke and hundreds of millions of lightning bolts flashing as in a thunder cloud, in the center of an encircling rosar y of five-colored (light) with an intensity extremely difficult to bear and scorching to the touch, on top of a reality source pitch-black as if smeared with ten million darknesses and filled with an ocean of blood grease churning “ch’al-ch’il,” on a cushion of the Lord of Seven Horses (the sun), on top of a black yakshacannibal who lies flat on his back, (you stand) Yamaraja, pitch-black like medicinal eye-liner, with a short and stocky body, right leg outstretched, left bent and a stomp that can cause the great earth to quake. Your head with yellow-brown hair bristling erect is adorned with five dried skulls and bears a wrathful vajra on its crown. A rosary of moist heads saturated with blood hangs around your neck and your three eyes dart w ith the stare of the evil-eye. The breath from your gaping mouth with its sharp, bared fangs quivers like the vapors from the mouth of a poisonous snake. In your right hand you sport a blazing cleaver to cut out the brains of the hosts of mara-demons and with your left you delight in holding a skullcup of blood. O mighty ferocious one, wearing a lower robe of a tiger-skin, do not waver, don’t be slack, don’t be slack, but remember quickly what you promised to the face of Yamantaka and accordingly accomplish whatever I, the yogi, command. 31
Also in the four directions around you on cushions of wrathful buffaloes with extremely sharp horns and hooves are you four great Yamas - white, yellow, red and pitch-black - each with the face of a wrathful, furious buffalo, extremely haughty with the stance of (right leg) outstretched and (left) bent, completely adorned with gear from the cremation grounds, mouth agape, and the base of your eyes totally red. Be like vajra- thunderbolts to destroy the hordes of interferers, and by these praises accomplish all pacifying, increasing, controlling and wrathful actions. In short, so long as I have not mastered, for the sake of all living creatures equal to space, the Supreme and Sublime Enlightened State of he who is renowned throughout all the earth as Manjushri, praised over and again by all the Victorious Buddhas, for that long may you eagerly accept with respect the orders of Yamantaka and destroy the black forces of evil as well as all demons who would strive to rob me of the supreme jewels of the perfect path.
Farewell Offering and Set of Praises for All the Invoked Guests OM HRIH SHTRIH VIKRITA-NANA HUM PHAT. OM SVABHAVA SHUDDHAH SARVA DHARMAH SVABHAVA SHUDDHO HAM.
(Everything) becomes Void. Within a state of Voidness, from AHs come broad and expansive skullcups, inside of which are HUMs. The HUMs melt and become water for the mouth, cooling water for the feet, perfumes, flowers, incense, a butter lamp, food and music. By nature they are Bliss and Voidness; in aspect they are the offering substances. Their function is to confer distinguished, uncontaminated Bliss as objects to be enjoyed by the six cognitive powers. OM ARGHAM, PADYAM, GANDHE, PUSHPE, DHUPE, ALOKE, NAIVIDYA, SHABDA AH HUM. OM YAMANTAKA SAPARI-VARA ARGHAM, PADYAM, GANDHE, PUSHPE, DHUPE, ALOKE, NAIVIDYA, SHABDA PRATICCHA HUM SVAHA. OM YAMANTAKA HUM PHAT - OM AH HUM. OM SHRI MAHAKALA SAPARI-VARA - OM AH HUM. OM KALA-RUPA SAPARI-VARA - OM AH HUM.
As the Wisdom-Body of non-dual (Voidness and Bliss), you are extraordinary and all-pervasive. As the (compassion) extending equally to all, you are the Father of all the Victorious Buddhas. As the Void Sphere of All
32
Things, you are (likewise) the Mother of all the Buddhas. As a wisdombeing, you (act) as all the Buddha’s Sons. I prostrate to you, O glorious Manjushri. Although in the Dharmakaya there is neither love nor hate, yet in order to tame all evil ones of the Three Realms without exception, you display the body of the King of Anger, as a compassionate means. I prostrate to you, terrifying Bhairava Yamantaka. Without ever wavering from the state of the Void Sphere of All Things and with your wrathful body which subdues all who are unruly, you destroy the rudra egomaniacs who would misuse the teachings. To you, O Mahakala, I offer prostrations and praise. O obedient servant of Manjushri, guardian of the teachings, oath-bound Yamaraja, protector with a terrifying form of one face and two arms, I offer praise to you.
Prayer of the Yamantaka Path (Maintaining the visualization of all the protectors as your witnesses:) By the force of such things as my mantra recitation and single-minded concentration like this on the circle of the Wrathful Lord Yamantaka’s mandala - which is the play of Voidness and Bliss appearing clearly like a rainbow on the face of a stainless mirror - a Ganges-like river of virtue has been gathered. By this, combined with a host of streams of all beings’ good deeds, and by my having trained in the pathway to Liberation as well as in the conduct of the Bodhisattva vows, may my mind-stream be filled with a treasure-store of nectar of (having traveled) the common paths to their end. By the heavenly waters of the vase empowerment, may I be purified of all ordinary appearance and compulsive grasping at it. And by the higher, supreme empowerments, may I come to manifest a Victorious Buddha’s Speech, the Sphere of Clear Light, as well as Unity, the abiding nature of reality. May I protect, even at the cost of my life, all the pure vows and commitments without exception that I have promised to keep at that time before the eyes of the Gurus and deities. They are the supreme root of all actual attainments. By devoting myself to striving in four (daily) sessions like the flow of a river, on the rough and fine yogas of the first stage (of practice) which is the ripening path that produces success on the complete stage, may I cut off completely ordinary appearance and my compulsive grasping at it. By pleasing - with offerings, praises and my supreme practice - the Field of Merit pervading all space which I have invoked with an orb of light from my heart as the Supreme Vira-Hero, may I complete my great collection of merit. 33
Having set the pride of the Dharmakaya, through my discriminating awareness that has ascertained the profound Voidness, the meaning of the mantras, then by having analyzed with stainless logic, may I acquaint myself fully with peerless deep awareness. By single-minded concentration on the Ten Furiously Wrathful Ones who abide in the fiercely blazing (Injunction) Wheel, may I gain the power to pull out from their roots the black forces of evil, as well as all demons. In the hub of this wrathful and mighty wheel, the Celestial Mansion of jewel-like light with a nature of deep awareness is everything beautiful condensed into one. By meditating on this nectar for the eyes, may I establish a supreme Buddha-field. By constantly meditating upon Manjushri whose radiant feet are on a full moon-disc on a turbulent mandala of wind in the center of the Palace, may I attain a Sambhogakaya free from the impurities of the Bardo inbetween state. Through the rough and fine yogas done with a complete full body of Vajra-bairava which I have realized from a wrathful vajra and a seed syllable that came from a sun that burns away masses of superstitious conceptions, may I sport the dance of a Supreme Nirmanakaya that has abandoned all the impurities of rebirth. May I develop the supreme insights of the complete stage in conjunction with the thirty-seven facets leading to Perfection, which are the main points of the nine categories that condense all the Sage Buddha’s scriptural texts without exception. May I completely master single-minded concentration on the sixteen types of Voidness in union with the simultaneous Great Bliss that comes from the white and red Bodhichittas of the activated Vajra Body collecting together and meeting. The supreme method for this is the glorious Illusory Body which is attained from dissolving into the central energy-channel the energy-winds induced by the three aspects of Voidness. May such faultless signs (of this achievement) appear, such as the mirage and so forth. By (meditating) in accordance with the yoga of pure deep awareness, may I then, in accordance with the yoga of shape, arise in the bodi ly form of a deity, beautifully adorned with the major and minor marks of a Buddha, arising like a bubble in the center of the ocean. From entering with a beautiful Illusory Body over and over again into the Clear Light and thus manifesting the actual (Clear Light of) simultaneous (Voidness and Bliss), may I attain a state of Unity on the pure Paths of Learning in which I have abandoned the obstacles of delusions preventing Liberation. 34
By totally familiarizing myself with this supreme State of Simultaneity, may I abandon without exception all instincts of delusions through vajralike single-minded concentration. In this way, may I attain in this very lifetime the state of Vajradharahood. May I myself, even if alone, cause this wondrous path to flourish a nd never to set in any direction or at any time. And may I lead all beings without exception quickly and easily along this path to the Enlightened State of Vajradhara. By the virtues arising from my effort in this method and by my pure selfless wish, may all limitless sentient beings never be parted, but always be cared for in birth after birth by the peaceful and wrathful Manjushris. Having manifested the Enlightened State with the Seven Kisses of Perfection and the nature of the five Buddha Bodies a nd which lasts as long as space endures, may I instantaneously lead all endless beings quickly and easily to this very state.
Begging of Forgiveness for Mistakes, Final Requests and Dissolution OM YAMANTAKA SAMAYA MANU-PALAYA, YAMANTAKA TVENO-PATISHTA, DRIDHO ME BHAVA, SUPOSHYO ME BHAVA, SUTOSHYO ME BHAVA, ANURAKTO ME BHAVA, SARVA SIDDHIM ME PRAYACCHA, SARVA KARMA SUCHA ME, CHITTAM SHRIYAM KURU HUM, HA HA HA HA HOH BHAGAVAN, YAMANTAKA MA ME MUNCHA, YAMANTAKA BHAVA MAHA SAMAYA SATTVA AH HUM PHAT. Whatever slightest mistake I have made from my mind being deluded, please be patient with all of these, O Protector Mahakala, for the same reason why you are a refuge for all living beings. Whatever I have done (incorrectly) because of not finding (the proper materials) or not fu lly knowing or lack of ability, please be patient with all of these. I beseech you to grant me the supreme actual attainments, to grant me the fruits of all samadhi states of single-minded concentration and to grant all sentient beings the peerless actual attainments as they wish. I go for refuge, respectfully in my inseparable Guru and Mahakala. May I be able to eliminate all the delusions, without an exception, of every sentient being. I go for refuge respectfully in my inseparable Guru and Mahakala. May I be able to eliminate all the interferences, without an exception, of every sentient being. By this virtue may I uphold the Buddha’s pure teachings without an exception, throughout all my lifetimes a nd may you, O Quick-Acting Mahakala, eliminate all adverse conditions for this and, without being slack, accomplish all favorable conditions. (Repeat 3x with intense feeling) . 35
