Composer Notes This song began life as a simple chant to celebrate the retirement of Rosemary McCloskey, MBE, inspirational director of St. Joseph’s Pastoral Centre, London. It had to be short and very easy to pick up. Later I added more verses. I have found that those with “learning difficulties” are more often our teachers. Fyodor Dostoevsky (1821–1881) said, “To love someone means to see him as God intended him.” Søren Kierkegaard (1813–1855) wrote: “At different stages in our lives, the signs of love may vary: dependence, attraction, contentment, worry, loyalty, grief, but at the heart, the source is always the same. Human beings have the rare capacity to connect with each other, against all odds.”
