Alfrado Alfrado appears to be in his late twenties. He is 6 feet tall and has an angelic appearance, with brilliant brilliant blue eyes and shining shining gold hair. He dresses dresses in dapper clothing marred marred only by the odd mark of paint or marble dust. His charm charm and wit hide the dark truth about his true nature, nature, that of a man long gone with suffering and hatred of those who have the love of others. Background: Alfrado was the royal artisan of an unknown world in a kingdom that has long ceased to exist. Alfrado was born born in to as hard working peasant family that crafted many fine vases and pots for their their community. But as fate would have have it when Alfrado was taught taught how to make the vases, vases, he fashion the most beautiful things that had every come from the kiln of the workshop, so great was his talent the he received a summons from the king of this small kingdom. Journeying from his small village he arrived at the capital of Lavania, where the king, promised to grant him the tittle of royal artisan if he could produce twelve twelve vases of unequalled unequalled beauty. Alfrado Alfrado when to the workshop that the king had provide for him and within one year produce the most beautiful vases the world had ever seen, anxious to see the limits of his new artisan the king ask that if Alfrado could paint the vases vases so beautiful could he not paint a painting just as beautifully. beautifully. Alfrado Alfrado thought upon this most carefully before replying “I will paint you thirteen paintings within two years the last will be a painting of you and your queen so realistic that you would swear that it was your own reflection, in return for a small fief.” The king agreed that should the painting look as realistic as he claimed he would get his land. Diligently Alfrado pursued his paintings and finished twelve within the first year, but when it came to the king and queen’s portrait it required time in their company, and during that time he noticed
the king’s daughter, the beautiful princess Althelia and was hopelessly in love with her and she to fell in love with him. The two lovers started to secretly see each other while they could and Alfrado promised to her that after the portrait was finished; he would ask the king for her hand in marriage. Two years to the day of the challenge he presented the portrait to the king, and it was every thing he had promised. But when he asked for the princess’ hand in marriage the king laughed at his face and told him the only princess a lowly peasant, no matter how talented, deserved was one far beyond his reach with a heart of stone. Alfrado when to his workshop and in the sorrow of the news created a perfect marble statue of the princess, but in his abject sorrow he did not realise the change of the statue’s eye upon it completion, they became living human eyes. Later that day sorrow descended on the palace as news of the princess spread, for she had lapsed into a coma and could not be wakened. The king fearing that Alfrado may have hurt his daughter to spite him for rejecting him as a suitor, rushed to the workshop only to find him asleep at the base of a statue of his daughter, and then to his horror the eyes of the statue moved. The king quickly summon the guards and had Alfrado place in the dungeon. The royal wizard, later announce that the princess’ soul had be imprisoned inside the immobile statute by Alfrado and that the only way free it was to shatter the statue. This passed around the palace until they reached Alfrado, who new in his heart that only he could truly release the princess’ soul, so he set to work creating several glass figures out of the materials in the dungeon each time feeling the need to escape an rescue his love, and thus he breathed life into the glass and the figures rose and freed him. But to late for as he entered the main hall with his glass figures behind him he saw the bed in which his beloved was in and which the king and his wife were crying over and the remains of the marble statue were shattered shards. At the sight of his love’s death he ordered the one thing he could not stop, the glass golems to attack and kill every one! As he knelt on the floor of the hall holding the shatter statue to mists surrounded him and brought to the Demiplane of Dread. Current Sketch: When he reached the Demiplane of Dread, he found himself in his small fief near the village of his birth. His love’s living body lying in the highest room in the west tower. Near him was a small pedestal with the face of the statue on it. Picking up the fragment it spoke to him “find the rest, and I will be yours.” Since that time sent his golems looking for the other fragments of the statue in order to reunite his beloved with her soul. Alfrado has also discovered that his ability to paint has also changed since his imprisonment in the Demiplane, to the extent of never being able to paint anything as it is only as a nightmaric version of the true thing, so far this has not disturbed him to much for the paintings are beautiful if only from disturbing point of view. This ability he has put down to he distress over the loss f his love. Alfrado spends most of his time searching for fragments of his love’s statue and painting, so far he has painted nearly every square inch of his land, thus causing it to change during the night as all his paintings do during the night. Closing the borders: When Alfrado wishes to close the borders any that attempt to enter them, for one turn suffer a fear test, for two turns a horror test and for three or more a madness test, as every where they look they see altered images of themselves, which become worst at they journey further into the mist. Combat: If Alfrado paints a PC that PC will that on the likeness the Alfrado has painted until they leave the domain with the painting or Alfrado destroys the painting. But other than that he leave his fighting to his loyal glass golems. If Alfrado is kill his spirit infuses on of his golems and after 1D6 days the golem begins to look like him. During those D6 day the border remains down, but any PC that escape this way that has be painted by Alfrado remains the way they were painted unless they have they painting.
