[Veneet’s Translation: The planets which are in their own sign, in an exalted sign or in a friendly sign, the planets which have they have kendra bala etc (i.e. placed in quadrants or trines), if they have less bindus then they all produce malefic results.] KJ’s Translation: If the planet is in its exalted sign, or in its own house, or in the house of its friends, or in a square or trine (stanabali) aspect and it has 3 or less points in ashtakavarga, it gives only malefic results. [Veneet’s Translation: The planets which are placed in an adverse house, those in debility or those in inimical signs or divisions, if they have excess bindus, then they all produce good results]

KJ’s Translation: If any planet that is in its debilitated sign, in its fallen sign, or in the house of its enemy still has more than 4 points in its ashtakavarga, it will give only benefic results. Both the above quotes provide standard Ashtakavarga result - because if planets are well placed (in exaltation, own house etc) has got more Ashtakavarga points that is the best; if badly placed (in debilitation, enemy house etc) but still have more ashtakavarga points then it is average; and if planets are badly placed (in debilitation, enemy house etc) but have less ashtakavarga points then it very bad. This is the standard derivation. What the above quote does is to look at this standard result, with a partiality towards ashtakavarga and then say that even if badly placed if ashtakavarga points are more good results will follow (like any text only on ashtakavarga might do). Not anything much new or KAS style here compared to the standard view. The standard view is available in quotes such as the following available in Yavana Jataka (quoted by Bhattolpala) -
(Yavaneswara Hora, Ref.Bhattolpala's commentary to BJ) Intend of this quote is [Well placed planets (planets in exaltation, own house etc) with strength (for example, with more ashtakavarga points) give good results; Badly placed planets (placed in debilitation, enemy house etc) with more ashtakavarga points give average results; Badly placed planets with less strength (for example, less ashtakavarga points) give bad results] But it is fun to read the derivation KJ (why we should be blame his so called guru Brij Gopal Sastri ji and the above quotes here - they are NOT the culprits) derives from these quotes; discarding the whole of standard astrology and even the meaning of the above quotes! Let me quote it for you. 1) KJ: Hence we come to a very important rule - A planet is said to be exalted or debilitated only on the benefic points it gets in Ashtakavarga. It has nothing to do with the sign in which it is situated. Alas! This was truly absurd! None of the slokas he quotes says so! Poor man and poor derivation. I think nothing else to blame here except his bad sanskrit. And here starts the KAS system and neither in the above quotes (possibly) nor with Brij Gopal shastri ji. Now the next derivation, possibly a corollary 2) KJ: The planets that get more than 4 points are called benefic planets. Similarly planets that get less than 4 points are called malefic planets, and the planets that get 4 points are known as neutral planets. Hmm... Is it not well evident from the above Yavana Jatka quote that planets SHOULD NOT be classified as benefic or malefic based on ashtakavarga points alone?! Any way this can be accepted as an one sided view of an ashtavargist. Sloka -3 Misspelled given quote: Ye chavsanaripu randhraturanbhaga |

[Veneet’s Translation: The planets which are in the twelfth, sixth, eighth houses or are in debility, those which are in the vargas of a planet which is in debility or is malefic or is an enemy, those which are friends of the lord of the sign occupied by Mandi, all of them give good results if they have excess bindus.] KJ’s Translation: Planets with 3 or less bindus or points in their own Ashtakavarga, although situated in their exalted sign, or a friend's rashi (or fortify), or in a trikona (trine) or in a kendra (angle), or even in upachaya houses, will give malefic results. KJ's translation - which is a mess - we can forget. It is simply that sloka states X and KJ says Y. But,it would be wrong if I move on with out pointing out an important point. If you read this sloka you will notice that it speaks about "depositor of gulika" (i.e. the lord of the sign occupied by mandi) which should naturally cause bad effects, is said to cause good effects if placed in a sign with more ashtakavarga bindus. The reference to depositor of mandi etc points to a period of 15th century or later for this quote, and possibly a period after the period of origin of texts like Prashnamarga which speaks extensively about Mandi, its depositor and the related effects. Anyway all such things are not any relevance to KJ or his KAS system. But the point I want to attract your attention is to is that, from the above clue we can judge that, possibly we might find these quotes in some 15th century or later texts which are not so popular. Let us keep our mind open for this possibility. Anyway we couldn't find anything specific to KAS in this quote as well except the KJ's fun to watch statements that are not at all said in the quote such as "Planets with 3 or less bindus .........even in upachaya houses, will give malefic results" etc. From where he finds these 'Upachaya houses' even in that above quote, god only knows! Sloka -4 Misspelled given quote: Arohbiyradhikbhavtulya | bindadhika: karma bhovodayastha: || tungadi vargopagata namoga:| shadviryavantashcha shubhprada:sthu|| In Devanagari Script:

[Veneet’s Translation: Planets with excess bindus, nearing exaltation or possessing virya (i.e. strong) or in a bhava-tulya state (in the middle of a house), placed in the tenth house or in the ascendant, placed in exalted or similar vargas and having shadvarga strength give good results.] KJ’s Translation: Planets with more bindus in their Ashtakavarga, even if situated in their fallen sign, or in the sign of their enemy, or in the dusthana houses (6-8 or 12), will give only benefic results. The above quote states the same thing as the above quoted Yavana Jataka quote. Nothing new here; and nothing special to KAS here - except KJ's misunderstanding of the meaning, mistyping and mistranslation of the quote. Oh! By the way, we have already reached the last of the only five available so called 'KAS quotes'. Let us move to the last one Sloka -5 Misspelled given quote: Dashapatirlagnagato yadi syat | trishdshaika daragashcha lagnat|| ta ta shton vargopyatha tatsuhrudva | lagne shubho va shubhadadasasa|| In Devanagari Script:

[Veneet’s Translation: If the lord of the dasha is in the ascendant or in the third, sixth, tenth or eleventh (i.e. in an upchaya) from the ascendant, and if it is (placed favorably) in the ashtakavarga of the ascendant (or its lord?), or is the friend of the (lord of the) ascendant or if it is in the ascendant and is a benefic then that dasha gives good results.] KJ’s Translation: Any planet receiving more bindus in the 1st, 6th and 10th houses in its Ashtakavarga will give benefic results as related to first house matters in its antardasa.
5 The quote as typed by KJ and KJ's translation is a mess. But it is from the above quote that KJ derives his KAS Upachaya rule. And what is the special "Upachaya rule" that he is deriving from this(!) quote? I am stating it below -
KAS Upachaya rule: The planet that gets the highest bindus in these (Upachaya) houses is the significator planet that gives the result in its antardasha as it relates to the 1st house starting point Hmm...and I think that even our highly imaginative Sanjay Rath ji will fail to create such a rule based on such a quote! My applause to KJ... well done; what ever the quote may say..who is bothered...we have the KAS system got created here! Why blame the poor Brija Gopal Shastri ji and the above quotes... if none of these where available then too certainly KJ will create this system! Most possibly Brija Gopal Shastri ji only taught standard ashtakavarga system to KJ and also using standard Ashtakavarga quotes that are well in tune with traditional astrology. But BGS and the quotes said X and KJ understood Y and thus got created KAS! Sorry, this is the feeling I am getting. KJ IS the created of this system - both father and mother and (possibly) neither BGS nor the slokas are the culprit. KJ is simply 'using' the name of BGS and 'using' these quotes just to create an aura of authority and tradition - so that tricking people to follow this system will become easy. So let us cut the trails and say KJ created this system out of nothing, from his own mind. Both the credit and blame for this system should go to he himself and none else. All the rules he propose are his creation. The creation of his imaginative mind and hopefully a result of some of his experiments based on charts. This second point is not of much worth since in his tutorial we see new rules created even based on a single chart that comes up in a discussion! (Anyway I won't be stressing this point further but would try to focus and list down the core KAS rules so as to facilitate a healthy comparison) Benefits of the study 1) It is identified that there is no KAS system or principles present within the slokas the KAS team quotes. 2) The de-linking of slokas and (possibly) Brij Gopal ji with this KAS system is achieved. And it is confirmed that KAS system is the sole creation of KJ himself and none else (especially the so mystified 'slokas from hand book' not to be blamed) 3) Let me confirm - No KAS is present with in these 5 quotes that the KJ tactfully 'uses' to project his self created system.
Comparison Let me list out some of the KAS rules along with a brief review of the same. Please not that all the rules presented here are KJ’s creations and no blame should go neither to Brij Gopal Sastri nor to the mistranslated and misunderstood Sanskrit quotes presented by Kusush.

All of the above statements do not prove to be correct in any case other than at random. Hardly a single event of the life can be predicted when using the above method. These laws cannot be proven universally in all cases. There are host of house related rules, Such assumptions are totally against which don’t find any other base, traditional indian astrology, and does not find except KJ’s imagination. Let me list any other based except that it is a KJ some of them – creation. st

As you could clearly see, taking Mars as bhava karaka for body, Saturn for brother, Mercury for longevity and death, Moon for father(!), Mercury for elder co-born, and Venus for sadness goes totally against the traditional astrology. And does it have any quote support – No. Does it comes true in practice? You decide! Ayanamsa: KJ say –
OK. Great claim! And what is the logical or theoretical base of this Ayanamsa? Is there I prefer to use my own customized any? Hope you all got a brief understanding about the KAS approach and its base or baselessness. I could have amended this list with many more points and corollaries, but why torture people – is this much not enough?! Benefits of the study -
1) KAS system is NOT compatible with AIA approach.
Some Notable Points Let me list out some of the points that are notable 1) I was wondering with this much ill standard in Sanskrit how could the english of Krushna Jugalkalami (here after KJ) be good. And I was thinking that it might be Ash (Elijah Nagawkar) or someone else who might have wrote this tutorial and ascribed it to KJ. But later (from KAS followers) I came to know that it was not by Ash but by Donna Quinn. Her excellent English should be appreciated which does provide readability to to tutorial. But the fun fact is that the first page of the book reads "by Krushna Jugalkalani" and the name of Donna Quinn is no where to be seen! And when the mistakes are pointed out the general clarification that comes from KAS followers is that "the book is written by Donna and not by KJ" (indicating that the blame should go to Donnna not to KJ!). It is real shameful attitude! The attitude - which says 'let all the good, appreciation and benefit go to KJ and everything that is bad, and the blame should go to Donna, who dedicate herself to wrote this text and whose name is not mentioned anywhere'! Is that an appreciable attitude a so called guru should follow? I would say that it is a third rate shameful attitude. And will attribute (as the book says) the whole blame and appreciation to KJ himself. (Donna is out of picture since her name is not mentioned anywhere). KJ's code of conduct says - "I will behave truthfully and honestly at all times and keep my conduct pure in heart" - poor man he preaches but never practices it himself, evident from the above behavior! 2) KAS system is a computer based astrology system, a modern computer astro babe produced by KJ. He himself confirms in his book that it is very difficult (if not impossible) to use this system without the use of a computer and some excel sheets. [I always had the hunch feeling that KJ started conducting some astrology classes, as the classes progressed he made-up this system just for the sake of classes. Anyway I don't have much info to backup this theory as of now] 3) Out of the 5 misspelled slokas given in the tutorial three has some curious text near them which reads - (ja shi 10), (ja shi 11), (ja shi 55) as if it is a reference number. The 4th do not have any "ja shi" associated with and the 5th is a fatherless quote without any special reference. KJ only states "I came upon the following Sklokas" (and gives 2 misspelled couplets) without mentioning from
11 where! Now what is this "ja shi"? KJ's so called gurus name was Brij Gopal Shastri", if it was his name that was under reference it should have been "ba ga shi" or so. But no, what we see is "ja shi", as if it is some books name with quote number 10, 11 and 55. Yes, it is certainly possible that Brij Gopal Shastri copied these quotes from some book and wrote them down in his note book, and then taught these standard Ashtakavarga principles to KJ and he understood or interpreted it upside down (as we have already shown). If we accept this possibility, the question is which is the book that "ja shi" could point to? Possibly it is not "ja shi" (a typo there as well?) but instead "ja chi" possibly standing for book names like "Jataka Chintamani" or "Jataka Chintaratnam" or something similar. Can "ja shi" itself be correct and still it point to some meaningful book name? Nothing comes to my mind in that direction - if something comes to your mind, please let me know. Anyway this is a good clue. We need to search for a book with the name possibly "Jataka Chintamani" or so which speaks about "Ashtakavarga" and contains these quotes and possibly (based on the clue that we already derived from 3rd quote) a text that got written after 15th century or so by a south Indian scholar (this based on the reference to 'depositor of mandi' in the 3rd quote). Let us keep this option open and something might surface in near future (that might turn the KAS theories upside down once again). 4) One chapter (lesson 6) in the tutorial is dedicated to KJ's Ayanamsa Table, which also contains the following impressive sentence - "The (precession rate) increase is approximately 0.044 seconds over a span of 100 years, so per year, it (precession rate) is increasing by a value of 0.00044 seconds per year'; and also gives an ayanamsa table for AD 1919 to AD 2500. Yep, we now know that the credit for this should actually go to the astronomical knowledge of Donna Quinn, but anyway as of ascribe it to KJ himself (since DQ is kicked out of the equation by KJ by not including/mentioning her name anywhere in the text) 5) Lesson seven gives some complex house ABCD rules, and lesson eight some Samadharmi rules etc. I don't want to bore people with the review of them as well. But there is notable argument presented by KJ in lessen eight which reads as follows - "Venus loses its natural power if it is within 3 degrees from the Sun. Similarly, it gives adverse results if it is more than 43 degrees from the Sun. If it aspects Saturn in the above case, it behaves like and 'anti-karaka'. Its karaka for marriage and bed comforts gets spoiled". Tall claims! Anyway I leave it to you all to experiment and determine whether this new born theory is valid or invalid. Actually there are several such absurd theories present in that chapter such as "Venus in the Nakshatra of Kartika (0-10 degrees of Taurus) losses its karaka and become natural", "Jupiter in Librara loses all of its benefic qualities and its karaka(?) gives opposite effect" etc etc. Note the terms - he is not speaking about "Jupiter losing its own karakatwa", but about "Jupiter's Karaka losing its karakatwa" - yap, one more new born theory on karaka! 6) Here and there in the book you may come across impressive looking statements as well such as - "Slow moving planets delays result" (and thus indicating that fast moving planets speeds up results), There is no Mercury's Nakshatra in Saturn signs and so on.
12 Thus my option is that it is a book written in good English utilizing 'Donna Quinn', for a baseless theory manufactured by the businesses-man Krushna Jugalkalami who is interested in computer astrology with near to nil Sanskrit knowledge (and possibly very less English knowledge as well) for projecting his self created theories which has possibly neither any traditional base nor any base i n his so called guru 'Brij Gopal Shastri' ji's teachings. Anyway the book is written in effective English (thanks to Donna), and presents some good insights here and there, even though as whole it is based on some misspelled, misunderstood, mistranslated quotes. Anyway if the system works (so argues some of it followers), then it can be appreciated as another unique system, but definitely it cannot be welcomed to the AIA camp since many KAS concepts goes totally against traditional indian astrology and also because it is a new born computer astro babe which is not "ancient". Benefits of the study 1) This windup my KAS review, and the end result put in one sentence, it is confirmed that - "KAS is non-compatible with AIA".
