Práctica N°2 Ensayo De Chispa I.Objetivo Al culminar la presente práctica práctica el alumno estará capacitado para:
Identificar mediante el ensayo de la chispa, de modo simple y aproximado, el tipo de acero que se ensaya
Usar de modo seguro y adecuadamente las máquinas y el equipo necesarios.
II.Marco Teorico P r ueb ueba a de de la chi chispa spa A través de este ensayo somos capaces de identificar características como el color, forma y grado de dispersión de las chispas al esmerilar e smerilar un acero o fundición con el propósito de poder tener información de la clase y de la composición del material (acero) que vamos a someter a la prueba. Este ensayo constituye una prueba rápida para reconocer aceros. Esta prueba se realiza sometiendo la pieza de acero al contacto con la piedra esmeril, en ese momento ,se producen chispas ,las cuales , dependiendo del tipo de acero tienen características especiales La chispa que obtenemos es producida por el hecho de que al acercar una probeta de acero a la muela del esmeril, el movimiento giratorio provocara un arranque de partículas del material que por la fricción provocara que sean calentados hasta su punto de fusión, así las partículas incandescentes de acuerdo a la presión aplicada y a la composición que presenten dejaran una estela que puede ser larga, l arga, corta, interrumpida o continua. Si es que la probeta probeta es un acero con carbón considerable , será una una chispa con más explosciones y diferente forma .De esa manera , se puede clasificar la pieza como perteneciente a un grupo determinado de aceros, a través de comparaciones con una tabla de colores de composición conocida. Es importante aclarar que no todos los materiales materia les presentan chispas,por ejemplo ,el bronce no produce chispa por su ausencia de carbono. En los aceros , se producen chispas por el hecho de que que cuando es calentado por la fricción del esmeril . se quema el hierro y los demás componentes del acero. Y que por acción del oxígeno del aire forman productos de oxidación, en el caso del carbono, por ejemplo, forma productos como CO y CO2 CO2 ya que estos productos son gases, gases, las partículas del material saltan, explosionan, y las estelas se extienden hacia diferentes direcciones. Por tanto, las formas que presenten estas estelas serán producto de la composición el acero.

Ac A cero dulce ulce ,sua ,suave o acer o al carbono rbono : El acero dulce representa la parte más grande de producción de acero y se uti liza en un amplio rango de aplicaciones. Contiene niveles de carbono que se sit úan entre el 0,15% y el 0,25%, casi hierro puro, que además es muy dúctil y resistente a la corrosión.

Ac A cero duro: uro: El acero duro posee un elevado contenido de carbono, carbono, entre el 0,45% y el 0,85%.Tiene una una dureza mu alta de 200-220 HB. En su caso del acero duro, las chispas producidad son de color amarillo claro muy luminosos, las chispas son abundantes y en forma de arbustos.

En el caso de sus chispas , estas son de color rojo oscuro, spequeñas, en gavillas interrumpidas casi sin estallido.

La identificación de los aceros por las chispas no es preciso, además de que cada tipo de acero produce una serie de chispas características y esto podría generar confusiones.Se requiere de mucha experiencia para poder clasificar correctamente el tipo de acero que se está probando. Este ensayo no puede sustituir al análisis químico, pero alguien con un ojo bien entrenado, reconoce bastante bien los materiales y la presencia de ciertos elementos de aleación. Mediante la observación de éstas y la comparación con fotografías pueden identificarse determinados tipos de aceros. Para realizar realiz ar una comparación eficiente , se deben tener en cuenta las tres zonas principales del haz haz de chispa producisa , las cuales son mostradas en la siguiente figura :

Carbono: Los aceros de bajo carbono dan chispas con pocas ramifica ciones de color amarillo intenso, presentan rayos lisos. Si el carbono aumenta, también aumentan las explosiones y arborescencias
Molibdeno: Los aceros que contienen Mo tienen un haz de color amarillo y en el final del haz una prolongación completamente separada de color anaranjado
Wolframio: Los aceros que contienen W presentan chispas de color rojo oscuro, pero si se supera mas de 18% las chispas son todas rojas. Recomendaciones:
La observación debe de hacerse, en lo posible, en lugar oscuro.
La rueda de esmeril debe de girar en sentido contrario al ordinario, para que el haz de
chispas se proyecte hacia arriba y poder así observarlo mejor.
Debe tenerse en cuenta que la carburación o descarburación de un acero puede ser
causante de clasificar mal un acero

Comparamos el haz de chispa, con el cuadro de imágenes, y elegiremos la imagen que mejor coincida con la chispa, nos dará información de la composición aproximada del material.
