Inner Awareness Is activating chakras an anti-religious practice? By Jaime T. Licauco Philippine Daily Inquirer 11:00 pm | Monday, June 4th, 2012 I received this letter (translated from Pilipino) from Keldy, a regular reader a nd listener of my Sunday evening TV-radio program over DZMM. I would like to ask a question about the seven major chakras. They say that it is good for the body to activate and balance the chakras through meditation. But I read that this is against the Christian religion. Is it true? I am a Christian and I want to open my chakras. Is there a way of opening the chakras that would not be against my religion? Keldy, whoever told you that activating chakras is against the Christian religio n does not know what he is talking about. This is one of the problems with the C hristian religion and its more militant followers. They condemn anything that th ey don t understand. For example, they condemned the movie The Da Vinci Code, based on Dan Brown s novel, and the concert of pop singer Lady Gaga without seeing them first. The seven chakras or psychic centers are vortices of subtle energy that flow in the spinal column of every human being, whether he or she is aware of them or no t. The word chakra comes from the Sanskrit word cakra which means wheels, because they sp in either clockwise or counterclockwise and look like wheels with spokes. It is the chakra that gives both life to the body and power to the psyche. Difficult to prove Although they have a correspondent area or place in the physical body, they are not of a physical nature and, therefore, their very existence is very difficult to prove from a scientific point of view. Dr. Hiroshi Motoyama, a psychic researcher from Tokyo, Japan, was the first to d evelop a computerized machine called the Apparatus for Meridian Identification t o scientifically prove the existence of these subtle energy centers, when he was investigating the acupuncture points and meridians in Chinese traditional medic ine. According to the late American psychic Edgar Cayce, the Lord s Prayer or Our Father was really a formula taught by Jesus Christ to open and activate man s chakras or psychic centers. It is not about asking God to give us food to eat and avoid tem ptation. Likewise, according to Cayce, the seven seals mentioned by St. John in his Revel ations refer to the seven psychic centers or chakras. Opening the chakra paves t he way for enlightenment and attainment of divine knowledge. The chakras are the channels or conduits that connect the physical with the spir itual aspects of man. Opening or activating the chakras can bring about spiritua l knowledge. On the physical side, the chakras are related to the seven endocrine or ductless glands, which in turn affect our immune system.
Meditating on the chakras can boost our immune system and protect us from diseas es. According to Indian beliefs, prematurely opening or activating the chakras, espe cially the one located at the base of the spine, where the kundalini or serpent fire lies asleep, can be dangerous if one doesn t have special spiritual preparati on and training. Learning psychic ability Another reader, John Michael, asked, Can one s psychic ability be converted to anot her? For example, can a person who is clairvoyant learn precognition, retrocogni tion or another psychic ability? Nearly everybody has psychic ability, but certain psychic abilities are more dev eloped in some persons than in others. For example, some people are more highly developed in seeing things rather than in predicting the future. They are the vi sual or clairvoyant ones. Some are more developed in their feelings or sense of touch. They are clairsenti ents. But, in general, other psychic abilities may be developed or enhanced thro ugh proper training and development. Our monthly ESP classes teach different types of psychic abilities such as telep athy, psychometry, remote viewing (or traveling clairvoyance) and telekinesis. N early all participants are able to perform most of these psychic skills in just two days.
