Foreword Hypnotherapy has been used in dental practice since the 19th century. It was used then in the form of hypnoanalgesia during surgical dental intervention. The first tooth extraction with the use of hypnoanalgesia was performed by Jean Victor Dudet in 1830. Since then, hypnotherapists have made powerful strides toward changing public perception about hypnosis. Doctors continue to use hypnosis to calm their patients, and to ease pain during procedures (Bierman, 1995). They regularly tell patients how easy recovery will be. Additionally, doctors tell patients that a procedure is common and meets with a high degree of success. Because these phrases are delivered by an authority figure, they act in exactly the same way as hypnotic suggestions, and become reality for the patient. More obvious hypnotic suggestions are also sometimes given to patients by doctors trained in hypnosis, and for over a century, dentists have used hypnosis to ease discomfort during dental procedures. In addition to using hypnotic techniques themselves, doctors and dentists regularly refer patients to hypnotherapists for help with weight loss, smoking cessation, and overcoming fears about dental and surgical procedures. Before the 1950s, the medical profession scoffed at hypnotherapy, but today it is being readily embraced as a complement to long-standing medical procedures. According to the southern Medical Journal (2004), as many as 40% of Americans use some form of complementary and alternative medicine such as hypnotherapy. At no other time has the world of hypnotherapy been as wide open with exciting possibilities as it is now. Because more and more people are exploring and accepting the benefits of hypnotherapy, a much

The goal of this book is to give you, a potential or practicing hypnotherapist, a strong base for building your practice. Hypnotherapy Scripts Volume VI Perhaps the most important part of any hypnosis experience is the script. What is a script? A script is the meat of the hypnosis experience. It is where the therapy occurs. If you do not have a script, you are not doing hypnotherapy. You may be hypnotizing your client, but you are not helping anyone. A script is the portion of the hypnosis session during which you suggest change. It delivers the main message to the subconscious mind. The pretalk, induction and deepening were all to prepare the client for the script. A script can be on anything: attracting romantic partners, improving efficiency for increased financial success, weight loss, memory improvement, smoking cessation, improved confidence, or whatever the client’s challenge may be. As part of a self-hypnotherapy session, a hypnotherapist could even write a script to enhance her creativity—to suggest to her subconscious mind that she is going to write more creative scripts. The script is where you form new associations for the client. Instead of being afraid, the client will associate a pleasant feeling with talking to members of the opposite sex, eating health foods, going down an escalator, down an elevator, into a crowd of people, up on a stage, in an airplane, near a snake. I have a prospective client who is afraid of entering parking garages. During the script, she will be given a new association for entering a parking garage, and she will no longer be afraid. Her old association, the one she has now, is scary for her. The script will plant positive suggestions

Hypnotherapy Scripts Volume VI that her body will remember in the future when she actually enters a parking garage. If you are new to hypnotherapy, you might want to start with a script written by someone else. You can borrow one of my scripts, or a script from one of the countless books available on this topic (see chapter’s end for recommended resources). When using a script that someone else has written, make sure that you have read through it before the hypnosis session. The worst thing you can possibly do is go into a session without previously having read through the script. You want to be familiar with the script for several reasons. First of all, you do not want to trip through words and concepts while reading the script during the session. (Because your client’s eyes are covered, you can read a script during a session. You do not have to memorize it.) Second of all, you need to evaluate the script prior to reading it to your client. Each client is different, so you will need to find and eliminate those things in the script that are not going to apply to the particular client for whom the script is being used. You need to have a full understanding of the script so that you can tailor it to reach the best possible results. Do your due diligence. Do not allow yourself any excuses. Prepare every time. Beware of procrastinating and ending up in a situation that causes you to stumble. You can get lazy. You can get into a rut. During a live sermon, the preacher can say, “I am sorry. I made a mistake. Let me backtrack.” You cannot do that under hypnosis. Every word you say goes into the patient’s subconscious mind.

Hypnotherapy Scripts Volume VI Be prepared. You are dealing with the most precious part of a human: His mind. Treat it delicately. I do not say this to scare you. I say this to prepare you. Be prepared. Consider a script for weight loss that begins like this: Now, you will imagine that you are a machine and you can put different types of batteries in your power center. You have been choosing batteries which do not last long and leave a residue. From now on, you will chose proper batteries which power you for a long time and do not leave a residue. Let’s say that you are not interested or inspired by the machine analogy used in the script. Also, your client is not interested in machines at all. Would this script be appropriate? Probably not. Would it be more powerful to use a script that related to something you and your client related to? Probably. Although the analogies are good and potentially powerful, if they do not feel natural for you, you will not be confident when reading them. And, more importantly, if they do not feel natural for the client, another script choice would be more appropriate. So go through any script you intend to use. Make sure there are no surprises. If someone hands you a script and says, “Here. Use this when you have someone who wants to lose weight,” make sure you go through the script ahead of time. Do not be afraid to alter a script. Scripts are not written in stone. Make the script into something that flows freely from your mouth. 10 www.SteveGJones.com
Hypnotherapy Scripts Volume VI One of the books I recommend at the end of this book, The Handbook of Hypnotic Suggestions and Metaphors by Hammond, contains many good scripts. However, they were written by hypnotherapists with advanced educational and medical degrees, and are therefore extremely technical. Take the general idea of these scripts and rewrite them. You have got to tailor things to your own unique flavor. I cannot emphasize that enough. The only rule for modifying scripts is this: Never insert anything that could cause harm. We do not harm people. We help people. Say good things. Do not say frightening or harmful things. Do not excite your client. Bore him. Everything is calm. Everything is peaceful. Everything is beautiful. Everything is positive. As long as you remember not to harm people, your script will be fine. If you do not have a script to modify, you will have to write your own script. Let’s assume that your client wants to lose weight and you do not have a script. What should you do? Do you give up? No. You do not give up. You take heart in the fact that everything you need is already within you. You just need a little guidance. So let’s take this step-by-step. First of all, ask yourself what the goal is. Here, the goal is for the client to lose weight. Before writing the script, you need to find out what a reasonable target is. Do not allow the client to expect to lose 100 pounds in six weeks. If you are not sure what is 11 www.SteveGJones.com
Hypnotherapy Scripts Volume VI reasonable, consult a dietician or a physician. (Remember: if your client is under the care of another healthcare professional, make sure you are agreement with the course of treatment.) Find out how much weight the person can expect to lose, and set a reasonable target within a reasonable time frame. Your due diligence should continue with a conversation with the client. Before you write the script, find out what the client is eating that is harmful. Ask the client: “What are the foods you are eating, and when are you eating them?” And then work this information into the script. For example, perhaps the client says, “I am eating Snickers bars at 11 p.m. right before I go to bed. I am eating three of them a night. I cannot figure out why on earth I am gaining weight. It is just not fair.” The script is the place to alter the negative behavior that is causing the problem. Your script will want to tell this client: that he can and will change his behavior. If the person is gaining weight, unable to talk to potential romantic partners, or scared of flying, the script is the place to insert suggestions for positive change. The script is where the healing takes place.
If she is afraid of planes, she gets on that plane. She takes that plane ride. She gets off that plane and nothing has gone wrong. Have her imagine the whole thing. She is safe the entire time. Nothing goes wrong. Be creative. Say things like, “You can see the cockpit from where you are sitting and everything looks fine. And you know that your bags are stowed and you just feel great because 12 www.SteveGJones.com
Hypnotherapy Scripts Volume VI everything is taken care of. It is a smooth flight. You look outside. And it is daytime and you see the sky and it is so beautiful.” If you are working on motivation, find out why the client is not motivated. Is she unmotivated because she does not think she will accomplish the desired results? If so, the script should help the client to see herself as having already accomplished the results. The client already has achieved whatever it is that is causing her to procrastinate. If the client is afraid of snakes, have him see a snake from a distance. Tell him, “Everything is fine and now if you want to you can walk closer. Only walk as close as you feel comfortable with and no closer. And each time you hear my voice, you can allow yourself to get closer but understand that no harm will come to you.” When writing a script, I am inviting you to use your creativity. I am inviting you to reach inside and pull something out of yourself something that will be helpful. I am not going to tell you a way that is written in stone because that would limit your creativity. Beyond the sky is the limit. Go beyond. Just let it flow. Keep in mind your plan, your idea, and your motive. Your motivation is to help the person. You are trying to help the client. Everything is positive. Everything is uplifting. We are not dwelling on the negative. We focus on the positive. Keep your eye on the mark and remember that you will end up at whatever point on which you have focused. Likewise, we want to keep the client’s focus on the positive change from within. The client should imagine that the change has happened. We want the client to think: “I am already flying. I am not planning on it. I am getting on that plane. I am not imagining it. I am flying. I am getting as close to that snake as I feel comfortable. I am taking the 13 www.SteveGJones.com
Hypnotherapy Scripts Volume VI steps to get to that escalator and I am on it and everything is fine.” As discussed earlier, a person’s body does not know the difference between imaging something and having it actually happen. This means that the client has the advantage of knowing rationally that the situation is not occurring, but physically and emotionally the client feels he has experienced the event. Therefore, when it comes time for the client to go down the escalator, his body will feel as though he has a positive and successful experience under his belt. Though they are the meat of the session, scripts should not exceed 10 minutes when read slowly aloud. The following chapters contain scripts which can be used by you in working with yourself or working with clients. I have divided them into chapters to make referencing them easier. Keep in mind that the chapter titles are only general guides and that some scripts could be used for multiple purposes. Fear of Success And as you continue to relax, you realize just how powerful you are. And you realize that you are worth of success. You deserve to be successful. See it. Feel it. See and feel yourself being successful. Imagine yourself there. Notice what is surrounding you, that’s right. Notice your environment. Notice where you live when you are successful. Notice how you live. Notice how others treat you and how you are respectful to others, that’s right. You are a wonderful person and you deserve this success. Feel how good it feels to be successful in all areas of your life, mentally, physically, spiritually, financially, emotionally, that’s right, in all of the areas in your life…successful. See and feel yourself there, now. And realize that you will maintain your success. You will continue to be a successful person because your success is a positive event for all of those people in your life. You set an example of how people should and can live, how they can reach their full potential, so your success benefits everyone in your life, because by seeing you as a 15 www.SteveGJones.com

You deserve it 100%. You deserve to be successful and as you breathe in deeply now, breathe in strength and courage and as you exhale, let go of fear, let it go. And as you breathe in, breathe in worthiness. You are worthy of all the good things life has to offer. And as you exhale let go of all the rest of the fear, let it go, that’s right. You are a successful person, feel it, that’s right. Feel it deep down inside. You have always understood deep down inside that you deserve to be successful and now you realize that it is absolutely true. It is your destiny to be successful and to maintain and increase that success. So relax and realize that you are successful and you will continue to increase your success day by day by taking those steps necessary to increase your success. And you take those steps in a very powerful way because you deserve to be successful. Relax, relax and realize just how successful you are and how much more successful you will become because you deserve this.

Fear of spiders And as you continue to relax you now imagine yourself in a movie theater. And you imagine yourself running the projector, that’s right. There you are in the projection booth running the projector and as you look down, you see the seats in the theater and in the front seat you see yourself sitting down watching the movie. And as you look at the screen you realize that yourself is watching you in the movie. And on the screen you see you in the movie, that’s right. And you are so relaxed and safe and protected in the projection booth. And as you watch yourself watching you, you realize the movie is about you enjoying a wonderful day and you see yourself watching you. You see you on the screen, that’s right. Yet you are in the projection booth safe and protected and you now see you on the screen walking along, walking along, that’s right. It is a beautiful day, a beautiful, wonderful day. And up ahead there is a tree and there is a branch coming from a tree and there is what appears to be a web, a web on the tree, connecting the branch to the rest of the tree. And you are very safe in your projection booth watching yourself watching you. And you now see you on the screen getting closer and closer to the web. It is definitely a web and there is a spider on the web and you see yourself sitting in the front row of the theater watching you on the screen. And you on the screen in the movie stop two feet away from the spider and its web. And you smile because you are so relaxed around spiders, that’s right. And now you see you in a different scene in a home where there is a spider on the wall and you are so relaxed. You are two feet from the spider and smiling and relaxed. And now if you so desire you can imagine yourself in the front row, that’s right. You have left the projection booth and you now see the screen from the front row where you had been sitting all along, that’s right. And you are watching you on the screen. You on the screen are standing two feet away from the spider 17 www.SteveGJones.com
Hypnotherapy Scripts Volume VI and smiling in a different scene now. You are so relaxed, so at ease. And at anytime you can imagine yourself back in the projection booth safe and protected, yet you are safe and protected sitting here in the front row of the theater, very relaxed and happy and calm. And now if you so desire you can imagine yourself in the movie seeing the spider from the point of view of you in the movie. The spider is two feet away from you. You are relaxed and smiling and at any time you choose, you can return to the front row of the theater or to the projection booth and you are so relaxed. All three of these people are you and no matter which position you are in, projection booth, the front row, or the movie itself, you are so relaxed, so at ease, so calm, so calm, so relaxed, that’s right. So relaxed and day by day you are becoming more and more comfortable around spiders. You take necessary precautions, yet you are relaxed around spiders. You always take necessary precautions when interacting with spiders, yet you are relaxed when you interact with them. You are relaxed and at ease and becoming more and more relaxed around spiders day by day as you continue to relax now.

Fear of Snakes And you are so very relaxed and at ease as you now imagine yourself in a movie theater in a projection booth and as you look down into the theater you see yourself sitting in the front row of the theater watching a movie and as you look at the screen you see that it is you in the movie, that’s right. You imagine yourself in three places, the projection booth, the front row of the theater and the movie itself. And at any time you can change your point of reference. For example at this time you are looking out from you in the projection booth, but if you choose you can look out at the movie from yourself sitting in the front row or you can be in the movie and see things from your eyes, the eyes of the character in the movie. Right now you are in the projection booth watching yourself watch a movie starring you. And as you watch the movie from the projection booth, you are safe and secure. You are safe and protected. And you see you on the screen walking in the grass and you see what appears a snake in the grass and as you watch you approach the snake, you are calm and relaxed and you see you in the movie at a safe distance from the snake and smiling. And now if you so desire you may move your point of reference to you sitting in the front row of the theater so that you can now see the movie from the front row. And you are relaxed and smiling and at any time you can move back to the projection booth but you are safe and protected no matter where you are. And if you so desire you may now be in the movie, seeing the snake from eyes of the main character. You are relaxed and at ease because you have stopped at a safe distance from the snake. You can now imagine a different scene with a different snake again you are at a safe distance. Day by day you are becoming more and more relaxed around snakes. You are so relaxed and calm. Imagine yourself again watching the movie from the front row and see how happy and calm you are as you 19 www.SteveGJones.com
Hypnotherapy Scripts Volume VI approach another snake and see yourself from the projection booth and realize that you are in control of the movie that is your life. You are always in control and calm. And if you so desire, see yourself again from the point of view of you in the movie. See how calm you are and how relaxed. Day by day you are becoming more and more relaxed around snakes and that feels wonderful.

Fear of Roaches And as you continue relaxing deeper, deeper, and more deeply relaxed, I would like you to imagine yourself in a movie theater. Imagine yourself sitting in the front row of the movie theater. I would also like you to imagine yourself at the same time in the projection booth running the movie, that’s right. So you can imagine yourself being in two places at the same time. In the front row of the theater and in the projection booth running the movie. And at anytime you can move your consciousness between either of these two positions. So for example, if you choose to be in the projection booth you simply imagine that you are in the projection booth. And if you choose to be in the front row, you simply imagine that you are in the front row because you are in both of these places at the same time. So you simply move your consciousness from one place to the other and your point of reference changes. It’s that simple. So I’d like you now to imagine yourself in the projection booth. That is your point of view. And you can look out through the projection booth and see yourself sitting in the front row of the theater. And since you are just imagining this, it seems perfectly natural because you can imagine anything you choose to imagine. In the movie that you are showing yourself is starring you. Now, you are safe in the projection booth watching yourself watching the movie and you are in the movie. So now you are in three places at the same time, in the film on the screen, that’s one, in the front row of the theater, that’s two, and in the projection booth, that is position number three. Right now you are in position three watching yourself in the front row as you watch the movie starring you. And because you are simply imagining this, you realize that it is fine to imagine yourself in three places at once. So now as you continue showing the movie, the movie starring you, you look out from the projection booth and you see yourself watching yourself on the screen. And as you look at yourself in the front row, 21 www.SteveGJones.com
Hypnotherapy Scripts Volume VI you look very calm. And as you now look at the screen, you see yourself in the movie. You see yourself standing in a kitchen in the movie and there are several roaches near you and you see yourself in the movie very calm and relaxed as you walk around the kitchen and the roaches are also walking. Notice how calm you are. Notice how calm you are as you sit in the front row. Notice how calm you are now in the projection booth, in position number three. That is your point of reference now, the safety of the projection booth where you can stop the movie anytime you choose and you are protected by a thick wall of glass. And as you continue watching yourself in the movie you see yourself now in a bedroom near some roaches. And you see one crawl on you. Notice how calm you are, how amazingly calm you are in the movie. Notice how calm you are sitting in the front row of the theater. And of course, how calm you are in the projection booth where you are in charge of the movie. Calm and relaxed. And now you see yourself outside. You see yourself in the movie outside and there are roaches near you. In fact, you even see one crawl onto your foot. Notice how relaxed you are in the movie because it‘s just a movie. Notice how relaxed you are in the front row of the theater because it’s just a theater and of course how relaxed you are in the projection booth because you are in charge. You are relaxed and confident at all times. And now I would like you to imagine your consciousness moving to position number two where you are sitting in the front row and at anytime you can move back to the safety of position number three, the projection booth, and you can stop the movie if you choose, but for now I invite you now to move to position number two, the front row of the movie theater and to continue watching the movie starring yourself. It is now a new scene where you are again in the kitchen and there are roaches near you. And you are smiling and laughing because you are so relaxed around them. And you see one crawling on your arm now and you smile and laugh 22 www.SteveGJones.com
Hypnotherapy Scripts Volume VI and gently brush it off. And you continue what you were doing in the kitchen, so relaxed. There are roaches near you yet you are relaxed and happy and peaceful. And now if you are comfortable with this idea, I would like you to picture yourself in position number one in the movie itself and remember at anytime you can move back to position number two or position number three, but right now you imagine yourself in position number one in the movie standing in a hallway in a house and there are several roaches near you on the floor. They are walking and you see yourself relaxed and happy and smiling. You are in the movie, in the movie and you are relaxed. And you notice this about yourself. You look down at the roaches and you smile. You walk past them and you continue walking and relaxing and you walk into the kitchen area and there are three roaches on the kitchen floor and you smile and laugh and you walk past these roaches and now one flies through the air and you laugh and point at it. It lands on the wall and you smile because you are so relaxed around roaches. So relaxed, they seem silly and funny to you. You very peacefully leave the kitchen now, so relaxed as you go. And each time you listen to this recording you will become more and more comfortable around roaches and when you see roaches they simply make you smile and laugh because they are so funny and silly and you are so comfortable around roaches. So relax and just drift now.

Fear of Rejection And as you continue relaxing deeper, deeper and more deeply relaxed, I would like you now to imagine yourself in a situation, any situation you choose in which you are trying to get something. Perhaps it can be a situation in which you are trying to sell something to someone or a situation in which you are trying to have a date with someone and perhaps get their phone number, but make it a situation that you anticipate to you in the near future. A situation in which you are trying to get something from someone. And imagine yourself there now. And now I would like you to imagine your favorite movie star, whoever it may be, your favorite movie star, that’s right, just pick one and you can change it each time you listen to this recording if you would like. And make sure this movie star is someone who is very strong minded, very powerful in your eyes and I would like you to imagine them now being ten feet tall, that’s right, imagine them being ten feet tall, and standing right behind you, watching over you, protecting you with their arms folded. So that this person you are talking to, this person you are trying to get something from can see them and they are intimidated by them and you smile an laugh to yourself. You are relaxed because you know now that whatever you ask for, you will get. And you also know that if you don’t get it, that’s fine because you are relaxed and confident at all times. So imagine yourself now talking with that person trying to get what you want to get and you either get it or you don’t but you are confident the whole time because you realize that person feels your power because you are backed up by your favorite movie star who is ten feet tall and very, very intimidating. And whatever the outcome, whether you get what you want or whether you do not, you are happy with the outcome. In fact, you realize that if you are rejected, that is fine because you realize that you must be rejected a few times before you arrive at a yes. So every time you 24 www.SteveGJones.com
Hypnotherapy Scripts Volume VI hear a no, you are happy because you realize that you are one step closer to getting that yes that you want and deserve. You realize that rejection is part of winning. Rejection is part of being accepted and you accept this because you accept yourself. You are fine at all times. Whether you are accepted and rejected by others makes no difference in the way you feel about yourself because you accept yourself at all times. Now imagine yourself back in that scenario where you are talking to that person trying to get something and you turn around and look up and look at your favorite movie star and you smile and they smile back at you and they nod because they know that you are safe and secure. You are protected at all times. You are always protected. Your ego is always protected because you protect it by imagining this force standing behind you, protecting you, watching over you. Imagine them putting their hand on your shoulder now, your favorite movie star, they’re putting their hand on your shoulder, comforting you, reassuring you, giving you the confidence you need to relax and accept rejection. And when you are accepted you realize that is part of life also. You accept this because you expect to win. You expect to win eventually. So whether accepted or rejected, you are fine. You are comfortable with yourself. You are relaxed at all times. You are a winner and winners have a certain percentage of acceptance and a rather high percentage of rejection. And you are proud of this. You realize that you are a true winner. You’re out there, you are trying. You are getting rejected and you are getting accepted because rejection is part of acceptance. You accept this as reality and you are comfortable with this because you are comfortable with yourself and you understand the true nature of success that you must be rejected a certain number of times before you are accepted. So you continue moving forward, continue going after what you want. All obstacles move out of your way because you are focused like a laser, that’s right. Fear of Public Speaking I would like you to imagine yourself speaking publicly. That’s right, just imagine yourself up in front of people and speaking publicly. And you imagine that as you continue to speak, your fear is continuing to leave. That’s right, you are allowing it to leave. Your fear has been considerably weakened and what little is left is going away completely. It is almost gone. And now your fear is completely gone. And you can feel a great sense of relief. And I want you to understand from that now on when you give a speech you will be very, very relaxed. Before you give a speech you will take a deep breath, in through your nose…and hold it, open your mouth slightly and exhale very slowly. And again a deep breath in through your nose and hold it, open your mouth slightly and exhale very slowly. And a third time, a deep breath in through your nose and hold it. You will open your mouth slightly and exhale very slowly and these three deep breaths in and out will be a signal to your subconscious mind. A signal that you are very, very relaxed and as you do these three deep breaths, in and out, you will recall a time in your life when you were very much in control, feeling very powerful, feeling very centered and focused. That’s right, and all your fear will leave. And you will be flooded with a sense of confidence and power and focus and serenity. And you will deliver your speech easily and effortlessly, everything you have prepared will come to you. If you are speaking spontaneously, ideas will come to you easily and effortlessly. And very soon indeed, you will find that you are an expert at public speaking. You are an accomplished expert at public speaking and that feels wonderful, because you are able to relax ahead of time, you will be able to concentrate completely on what you have to say and as soon as your speech begins, you will be relaxed. When your speech is concluded, you will be full of the warmth feeling of accomplishment which seems to come from that knowledge that you have done well, that’s right. Fear of Intimacy And as you continue to relax you realize just how powerful you are and you realize that you have control over all of the sensations in your entire body, that’s right. And you realize now just how in tune you are, how in tune you are with your entire body. You realize that you are a very sexual being and you are comfortable with this. You are very comfortable being a very sexual being and because of this, you find that you seek intimacy with another, that’s right. I want you know to imagine yourself in a very intimate situation with another. And see it as though you are watching a movie of yourself being intimate. Notice how you respond to touch. Notice how you respond emotionally. You are very in tune with yourself and with that other person. Watch as the two of you continue to be intimate. Notice the expression on your face, you are relaxed, yet very happy. You are comfortable with yourself, your beautiful, wonderful self and you are comfortable with that other person. This allows you to relax completely and enjoy the beautiful, wonderful moment, that’s right. Day by day you realize that your desire for intimacy increases and as it does, your love of yourself and your respect for yourself also increases. You treat yourself with care, allowing yourself to enjoy special moments of a very intimate nature. As you continue to watch yourself on that screen perhaps now you would like to become part of that movie so that you are now involved in that scene, that’s right. Realize that this is just a movie and at any time you can move out of it and continue to watch in a very safe environment. And if you choose to be part of that move, feel those feelings of intimacy, feel them growing stronger, the sensitivity to touch, the wonderful emotions that are a part of intimacy, the good feelings of sharing of being with another, of sharing your body and mind and spirit with another, that’s right. Fear of Horses Script You are feeling very comfortable and you are completely at ease. Now, picture yourself entering a movie theater. Take a look around. It is a very large and open room. The theater has many rows of red comfortable seats. The movie has not yet started, so it isn’t very dark yet. You look at the movie screen. It’s large and you look forward to watching the movie. You look up and toward the back of the theater and you notice a small window. This is the projection room, where they project the movie onto the screen. You sit down in the front row and get comfortable. Perhaps you are with a friend or maybe you are by yourself, it is up to you. The chair is large and you feel safe in this movie theater. Trailers to upcoming movies begin and you get absorbed in them. Now it is time for the movie to start. You are feeling completely at ease and you are excited about the movie starting. So, you sit back and enjoy. As the movie begins, you notice that you are in this movie. That’s right, you are the star of this movie. You watch yourself on the big screen and you are happy to see yourself. In the movie, you are in a grassy area walking toward a fence and closer to the horse. You are walking towards a fence that holds a horse. You watch as you get closer to the fence and closer to the horse. Now if at any point you feel uncomfortable, you are able to transport yourself into the projection room and watch from afar. Also, if you have any difficulty with watching the movie, you can shut it off at anytime. Let’s pretend that you are feeling a little uncomfortable, so you go into the projection room. You are a little more at ease up here because you know you have a little more control. You watch yourself from high up in the projection room. In the movie, you are at the fence, about 25 feet from the horse which is approximately 8 meters. The horse does not notice you. It stands there, only caring about the hay it is eating. Hypnotherapy Scripts Volume VI You are not tempted to shut down the movie, but you know you can if you need to. You watch yourself in the movie, you reach your hand out, as if to say hi to the horse, and the horse continues to eat. You are feeling a little more comfortable now, so you decide to go back into the theater and watch from the front row. You settle down into your comfortable seat. You understand that if you feel fearful at any point in time, you can go back to the projection room and turn off the movie if you have to. You continue to watch and you find yourself enjoying the movie. In the movie, you take a large carrot out of your pocket and hold it out to the horse. At first, the horse doesn’t notice you holding out the carrot, but he eventually turns his head and looks interested in what you have to offer. The horse starts to slowly approach you in the movie. You calm any fear that comes to the surface. Because you understand that you can watch this horse and feel confident that it will not harm you, because you are only watching. The horse comes up to you in the movie and lightly takes the carrot out of your grasp and begins to eat it. If at any time, you are feeling comfortable with the movie, go ahead and put yourself in the movie. Pretend that you are next to the horse. If you feel uncomfortable, that is fine too and you can stay in the theater or in the projection room. As you continue to look up at the screen, the horse pauses for a little while and seems to be waiting to see if you have any more carrots; this makes you happy and you smile. This is the point in time, maybe not now, but maybe in future listening of this recording, you decide to be in the movie. Let’s pretend that you are now in the movie and you are leaning against the fence with another carrot in your hand. The horse is about 4 feet from you. If you feel uneasy, you can go back to the theater or the projection room, but right now you feel confident. You trust the horse to be nice to you. He takes a couple steps toward you and eats the carrot from your hand. You feel like you have accomplished great things and you have. You now realize 32 www.SteveGJones.com

And each time you listen to this recording you become more comfortable around horses. Fear of Heights And as you now continue to relax, you imagine yourself in a movie theater. You are standing in the projection booth and you are showing a movie. The movie is starring you. And you also see yourself sitting on the front row of the theater watching the movie. So there are three versions of yourself. The one standing in the projection booth, the one on the screen, and the one on the front row. And right now, you imagine yourself to be watching things from the projection booth. You are watching yourself approach a very tall and beautiful building. That’s right, watching the movie from safely inside the projection booth. And you now see yourself approaching the building and there is a glass elevator which runs up the side of the building, giving the occupant of the glass elevator a beautiful view, a beautiful view of all the surrounding areas and you now see yourself get into the glass elevator and begin to go up, safely, confidently, and comfortably. You are watching from the projection booth. Second floor…third floor…You see yourself in that movie safe and protected and comfortable and relaxed and very comfortable. And now you imagine yourself watching the movie from the front row of the theater and at any time you may choose to go back to the point of view from you in the projection booth. But right now, you are watching the movie from the point of view of you sitting in the front row, watching yourself on the screen. Watching yourself now on the fifth floor…sixth floor. Seeing how relaxed you are, seeing yourself smile and now you can imagine yourself being in the movie looking out at the beautiful areas all around from the glass elevator and at anytime, you may go back to the front row of the theater. But for now, you see yourself going up…up…the tenth floor and above, in the glass elevator. You see yourself standing there in the glass elevator. You look down and see your feet firmly planted on the floor of the elevator and you watch the numbers increase as you 34 www.SteveGJones.com

Just enjoying the beautiful day, looking out at the beautiful surrounding areas and now your elevator has reached the top. The top floor, which you can imagine to be any number you choose. You are at the room and you now exit the elevator and walk on the roof and there is a very safe railing going all around the roof and you walk over to the other side of the roof. And you look over the edge and you are so relaxed. You are safe and comfortable. You realize that day by day you are becoming more and more comfortable with heights. So relax now, relax and drift and float in your mind. Relax and let this image go. As you relax, that’s right, relaxing. You are very safe everywhere you go and very relaxed everywhere you go and that feels so good.

Hypochondria Because you are now relaxed, let any feeling you have buried come to the surface, examine those feelings. Decide which ones you want to keep and decide which ones you want to discard. Keep the ones you need right now and cast away the others. It is all right to feel sad or depressed sometimes. It is your way of being good to yourself. Depression is a healing process so you can allow yourself to mourn or be sad. And when you have completed the time of sadness, set yourself free. You are good to yourself. And the time will soon be over for those feelings, those feelings of sadness and you will be free from them. You will feel free because you can accept or discard any feelings at all. Discard any feelings you are through with. Feelings are yours and you can let them come and go, come and go as you need them. Now relax and continue to relax and feel yourself relaxed with your feelings and think about how you are a whole person with many feelings that make you whole and healthy. And if any unwanted outside pressure comes at you, you are surrounded by a shield that protects you from pressure. The shield will protect you from the pressure. The shield prevents outside pressure from invading you. Pressure bounces off and away from you, bounces off and away, bounces off and away no matter where it comes from or who sends it bounces off and away, bounces off and away, bounces off and away. You feel fine because the shield protects you all day from stress and pressure. You go through your day feeling fine. You watch the stress bounce off and away. The more stress outside, the calmer you feel inside, the calmer you feel inside, calm inside. You are a calm person and you are shielded from stress. You act in ways that make you feel good. I would like you now to imagine yourself relaxed and at ease in the lotus position. And as you take a deep breath in, breathe in peace and tranquility. And as you exhale, slowly let go of the stress, that’s right. And as you breathe in deeply again, breathe in relaxation and calmness and as you exhale slowly, let go of any remaining stress, let it go. I’d like you now to imagine yourself going through a yoga session, that’s right. From beginning to end, just see yourself going through the session relaxed as you go. Able to stretch easily, that’s right, and effortlessly, that’s right. Realize that your stamina has increased. Realize that your flexibility has increased. Realize that your ability to relax has increased, you are so very relaxed as you go through this session. Able to achieve all of the postures, all of the positions easily and effortlessly, able to learn new positions, that’s right. You are an amazing and relaxed and a calm person and as you go through the session, just feel that sense of inner peace. Feel that calmness and every time you practice yoga, you are calm, very calm, very relaxed, able to push yourself gently to new heights, to new experiences. Herpes And as you continue to relax deeper, deeper, and more deeply relaxed, you realize just how powerful you are and you realize your subconscious mind has the power to control every function in your body. Your subconscious mind has the power to control anything that happens in your body. So relax now, relax. Realize that everything is going to be just fine. I would like you to imagine a healing, cleansing, powerful light over your body. And I want you now to direct this light down, down, down to the part of your body that has previously been affected by herpes and if there are several parts of your body, imagine a ray of light going to each of those parts sending healing and cleansing energy. Now you imagine this ray of light is only your subconscious minds way of imagining healing yourself. In other words, your subconscious mind is doing the healing but you are simply imagining the light so that your subconscious mind has something to focus on. Truly, your subconscious mind is in charge of all healing. All healing comes from within you, from your mind. Imagine this light being focused on one or more parts of your body now. And as it focuses on your body, feel healing, cleansing energy being sent to that part or those parts. And you can feel this energy in the form of heat. Those parts of your body or that part of your body seems to actually get warmer. That’s right. And whether you are currently having an outbreak or simply preventing one, those areas begin to feel good. Notice how good they begin to feel. As the herpes virus associated with that area is told to back off, to draw back, to go back in a dormant state, that’s right. And to never come back again from its dormant state. Feel the relief, that’s right. If you are having a current outbreak it feels as though you have rubbed some ointment on that area which eliminates the pain. And this is reality because your body has the power. Studies have shown that your subconscious mind has the power to keep the herpes out of that area and if it is already active, your subconscious mind has the power to shut it down, sent it back to its dormant state. So use the power now in the form of that healing, cleansing, powerful light. Sending that herpes out or keeping it away and once you do this the results are permanent. You permanently keep it out of that area or those areas, permanently. Keeping it in its dormant state. Easily, effortlessly, naturally, that’s right. Easily, effortlessly, naturally because you are in charge of your subconscious mind and you’re in charge of all the processes in your body. And realize that you are in charge of your body, you are in control of your body. You are in control of your emotions. You are in charge of all the physiological processes in your body and you are in charge of the spiritual aspects of your body. There is an energy that flows through your body and allows you to relax. Allows you to cleanse and heal yourself and this energy works on all three levels, the emotional level, the physiological level and the spiritual level. And you are in charge of all three of these levels. I would like you now to imagine that healing energy, that multi-faceted healing energy moving through your body, radiating out from your chest area, from your heart, radiating all over your body, that’s right. Feel yourself healing emotionally, feel yourself physically stronger. Whether this person is a friend, a significant other, a roommate, or anyone else, you are open to forming a relationship with them. This person is in your life for a reason and you enjoy getting to know them. You can easily handle this new person in your life. You realize that you are still yourself when you are around this person. You do not change who you are when you are around them. You enjoy going through new experiences with this person. Getting Your Driver’s License And as you continue to relax more and more deeply, you realize that you have been preparing to get your driver’s license for a long time. You have confidence that you have done everything you can to prepare for the test. You are confident in your eyes. Either with glasses or without, you know that you can see everything with perfect vision, that’s right. Your eyes are able to see thing with perfect 20/20 vision. Imagine yourself easily and effortlessly passing the eye exam portion of your driver’s license test. Imagine yourself now taking the knowledge portion of the test. This test is going to ask you many questions about the rules and laws of driving. You have studied for this part of the test. You are confident that you know how to accurately answer every question. Picture yourself in front of the test. You are about to begin. You take a couple of deep breaths. Inhale…through your nose…hold…and exhale…releasing all tension and negative thoughts. Again, inhale…thinking positive thoughts…and…exhale out. You feel very calm, at ease, and confident. You are confident in your answers as you answer each question one by one. When you submit your test, you feel good about your ability. Now picture yourself in the car with the driving instructor. Your feet are resting comfortably near the brake and the accelerator. The instructor goes through a list of commands, making sure you know everything there is to know about the inside of your car. You know exactly how to blink left and right. You know how to put your car in park, drive, and reverse. You have practiced these things and you are completely calm and at ease during this part of the test. Now picture yourself in the driving portion of the test. Again, you are very relaxed, yet your mind and body are very alert. You are able to easily and effortlessly guide your car where it needs to go. You are easily able to accomplish everything the instructor asks you to do. If your test requires parallel parking, you easily and effortlessly achieve this task too. You have practiced parallel parking and you know exactly what to do in all circumstances. All of your senses were on heightened alert during your test. You are smart and have the ability to achieve your driver’s license. Now imagine you passed your driver’s license test. Imagine the feeling of accomplishment rush through your body when you are told you passed your test. You are very proud of yourself. You are confident of your driving abilities. You are able to organize your life. You are able to organize every aspect of your life. Day by day your powers of organization increase, that’s right. Whether at home or in business or anywhere, anywhere you are you are able to organize and you are even able to organize others because your powers are immense. Your powers of organization are tremendous. You think in a very orderly way. You act in a very orderly way. You organize in a very orderly way. You can look at any situation and notice how it needs to be organized and you organize it because you are powerful. You are interested in organization. You are interested in organizing things. You are interested in organizing your life. You are interested in implementing organizational systems, that’s right, because you realize that these benefit you and others, these benefit you and others. These organizational systems have multiple benefits that you are very interested so you relax because you realize just how powerful your mind is and how you are able to organize any situation. I would like you now to imagine a situation in your life which needs to be organized. It could be a desk, it could be a company, it could be a schedule. Anything you want to imagine now that needs to be organized. It could even be your entire life. You are of course the twin and it is true that more twins are born under Gemini than any other sign. You frequently talk with your hands because Gemini relates to the arms and the hands. Many people in business are Gemini’s, Donald Trump for example. I realize that you are curious about almost everything. So Gemini, I encourage you to explore everything that you want to explore, yet at the same time realize that when it comes to matters such as financial matters, you must focus. You can use your many talents in a very focused way. Think of Donald Trump for a moment and the many business ventures he has, yet they are all business ventures working together, complementing each other. You now realize that in the past gambling was an escape and weakness that you are replacing with confidence, strength, and self control. Freedom from Panic Attacks As you continue to relax, just drift now and float, relaxing more and more realizing how very relaxed you are. And you will take this relaxation with you wherever you go, because you are so very relaxed. Relaxed in your life. Relaxed from day to day. Relaxed in all situations. And any time that you need to return to a deeper level of relaxation, you simply breathe in through your nose, open your mouth and exhale slowly. And then again you breathe in through your nose. Hold it. Open your mouth slightly and exhale slowly. And these two full deep breaths relax you in any situation. And you find that day by day you are becoming more and more relaxed in every situation, that’s right. And you find that there is something in your life that you need to deal with, you deal with it quickly, easily and efficiently so that you can move on and create a flow in your life. Handling situations easily, efficiently, smoothly, creating a flow in your life. This allows you to be more and more relaxed and you are prepared for things in your life. You prepare in advance being prepared helps you relax and gives you security and confidence. And for those times when you need to relax even more you simply take a deep breath in through your nose, hold it, open your mouth slightly and exhale very slowly. And then you take another deep breath through your nose, hold it, open your mouth slightly and exhale very slowly and you relax. And day by day you are becoming more and more relaxed because you now have efficient ways to relax. You use your breathing exercise to relax. You deal with situations quickly and efficiently and you prepare for things ahead of time. Being prepared helps you feel so relaxed and at ease.

Forgive that Person And as you relax deeper and deeper and more deeply relaxed, you realize just how wonderful you are. You are a wonderful, amazing person. You have immense integrity. You respect yourself and others. And because you respect others, you allow yourself now to forgive that person, that’s right. And imagine that person right now, the person you desire to forgive. Realize that you do indeed desire to forgive them. They are human, you are human, that’s right. And sometimes humans make mistakes and you accept this, realizing that you, just like them, are capable at times of doing things which need to be forgiven. And as a wonderful, warm, caring person, you now make the decision to forgive that person. You have made the permanent decision to forgive them and to allow them back into your trust because you realize now that they are worthy of being forgiven, that’s right. And you reflect for a moment on all the wonderful things about them. All the wonderful things that make them unique, that’s right, that’s right. You realize that you will forgive them and you are very comfortable with this decision. You are very determined to forgive them so allow yourself to let go of those feelings that you had formerly been holding on to. Let go of those negative feelings now, those negative feelings concerning that person, let go of them. Feel them leaving you now, those negative feelings are leaving you, they are being replaced by a warm, wonderful, loving feeling toward that person. Day by day you will decide this warm, wonderful feeling to increase, that’s right. So relax now and realize that everything is just fine.

Forget them NOW And as you continue relaxing deeper and deeper and more deeply relaxed, you begin to realize just how powerful you are, just how powerful your mind is. You have a very powerful mind. And I’d like you now to realize that you can erase any part of your mind, any part of your memory that you choose. And as you take control of your mind, erasing a certain part of your memory, you feel very empowered. I would like you now to imagine that your mind is a computer screen and you can type in the name of a person and all the memories concerning that person will appear on the screen and if you erase all of those memories then nothing will appear on the screen. But notice as you type in their name, notice what appears on the screen. I would like you now, in your mind, to realize that on this computer screen, each of these memories has a little box next to it and you now use the mouse and click on the boxes next to the memories you choose to erase, that’s right. And as you click on those boxes and you now hit the enter key, those memories are now erased. And day by day, those memories will fade more and more, that’s right. And as you practice this exercise, you will become more skilled at erasing those memories of that person, that’s right. And very soon indeed those memories will be permanently erased forever, allowing you to live a wonderful, exciting, empowered, and happy life, that’s right. Because those memories will be gone completely, allowing you the freedom to have joy in your life, to have power in your life, to have excitement in your life, that’s right. Because you have chosen to erase those memories of that relationship forever. So relax now and realize that the computer of your mind, the powerful computer of your mind has been instructed to erase those memories that you no longer want or need. Your mind has the ability to control the energy flow in your life. And you strongly desire to have a proper flow of chi energy in your life. And so you organize your time and you organize the various spaces in your life so that chi can flow properly. You find yourself very interested in organizing your life in accordance with the rules of feng shui so that you can have energy flow and abundance in your life, so that you can have wealth, a wonderful relationship and all the wonderful things that feng shui encompasses. You are very interested in having a life that is very meaningful and has a proper flow. And now you relax more and more deeply. You relax more and more deeply as you think about all the areas in your life that could be enhanced by allowing yourself to feng shui, to properly organize your life. Put energy now in the fame and reputation area of your life, the fame and reputation area. And that part of the bogwa that corresponds to love and marriage, feel yourself putting energy into it now, that part of your life that pertains to children and creativity, that’s right. Appendix I have over two decades of experience in hypnosis. I have a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Florida, an M.Ed. from Armstrong Atlantic State University, and I am working on a doctorate degree at Georgia Southern University. I am a certified clinical hypnotherapist, a member of both the American Board of Hypnotherapy and the National Guild of Hypnotists, president of the American Alliance of Hypnotists, and director of the Steve G. Jones School of Hypnotherapy. I am also on the board of directors of the American Lung Association in Los Angeles.
