Commercial Autopot Hydroponics When Autopot System first ventured into the hobby hydroponic market in 1992, many experts were too quick to rule out the system as an effective commercial hydroponic system – simply because it is so unconventional and controversial to the basic “rules” of hydroponics. The main issue that they find it hard to come to terms with is the fact that crops can be grown very successfully in Autopot System without any run-off and with no flushing! To them it is just no possible. Possible or not, we have concrete evidence that Autopot System produced just as good, if not better, results than the current run to waste system for tomato production. Laying out the Autopot Autopot System.
2,000 sq. M greenhouse With good climate control 5,000 growing points with tomato Started 1997 Owners – Keith Ellerton & Graeme McLeod
2 years ago, the owners came across an article in the Practical Hydroponics mentioning the Smart-valve system. They investigated and decided to try out 250 plants comparing with their existing run to waste system with everything being equal. They were surprised to find it is so simple to get such good re sults with Autopot System even with their first attempt. When compared to the performance of their current run to waste system, the growth, yields, flavours and shelf-life of their crop were surprisingly better in many in stances. Trials extended to 1,000 plants and the results have been consistently better. Now they are fully convinced and will go 100% with Autopot System in their next extension of 10,000 growing poin ts.

The Paraguan Story
Bobeda Hydroponic Farm – Paraguay.. • • • •
6,000 tomato plants. Open sided plastic house. Started 1998. Owner – Juan Bobeda.
Paraguan project project - 2 months from planting.
Pic. Left – newly newly planted.
Juan surfed through the net for a hydroponic system that is simple and applicable for his climatic conditions – sub -tropical. After thorough investigation and a trip to visit the Autopot System in Melbourne, they were convinced that would be the Autopot System is the most suitable system for him in Par aguay. In order to reduce the shipping costs, Juan had to substitute the pots with plastic bags as the growing containers. He used blue stone chips for the growing medium. He has no previous experience in hydroponics and yet produce excellent results with his first attempt – as shown in the appending pictures.

Mauritius project project – Planting time.
This project require a hydroponic system that is effective for the sub-tropical climate and water efficient due to the scarcity of water during most part of the year. The owners experimented with Nutrient Film and Drip To Waste techniques and found they were not producing satisfactory result s. Autopot System has been selected to this pilot project of 2,000 growing points. Mauritius project project – Filling the pots with blue stone stone chips.
