PREAMBLE

1.

The subject “ANALYSIS AND DESIGN OF HYDRAULIC STRUCTURES” having GBTU code no. ECE 052 is an elective subject for VIIIth semester final year civil engineering students. This subject deals with following main items.

(1) Details and design of diversion head works like weir and barrage constructed on perennial rivers for diversion of water to canal for irrigation purpose. (2) Details and design of canal regulation works like falls, head regulator, cross, regulator, canal escape, bed bars and cross drainage works like Aqueduct etc. (3) Investigations and Planning of Dams and Reservoirs, Details and design of dams, spillways etc. (4) Details about hydro electric power generation. 2.
