Upapada Step 2: Read and understand the chart while marking the various yoga’s formed by these Chara Karaka’s. Step 3: See the placement of current Chara Dasha from the Birth Lagna. Step 4: Treat the current Dasha Rashi as Lagan and check how the Karaka’s have been placed, including various yoga’s i.e the promise of the particular Rashi Dasha. Step 5: Analyze each sub-period in the same way as the step 4 but keeping the promise identified in Step 4 in the mind. Note: Do keep in the mind the Desh(Place),Kaal(Time) & Paatra(Native) in mind. How to find the focus area of soul for the particular Dasha. Note the placement of AK from the very first Dasha leading to the current Dasha. You will see the broader focus area of you for that particular Dasha.

Eg: Dasha Sequence: Aries 1982-1987, Taurus ( 1987-1996), Gemini ( 1996-2005),Cancer (20052016) Note the position of AK-Saturn from the Dasha periods. AK significator for 1st House-Self, Identity, Soul,Body etc. In Aries Dasha, AK was placed in 6th house. The focus area for the soul was to maintain health as the native fell ill number of times. Also, change of residence and loss of sibling ( that was a birth chart promise which manifested in this Dasha). AK being in dual sign aspecting 3rd,9th and 12th which clears the picture. In Taurus Dasha, AK was placed in 5th house. The focus area for the soul was education and recreation. Did well in studies and sports.Also, birth of second sibling. AK aspecting 8th,11th & 2nd house. In Gemini Dasha, AK was placed in the 4th House. The focus area for the soul was home environment, education, mother. AK aspecting 1st,7th & 10th. Few non-life threatening accidents. Father had a almost fatal accident. In Cancer Dasha, AK was placed in the 3rd house. The focus area for the soul have been struggle & overcoming hurdles, traveling & change of residence,Higher education including foreign, debts-student loan,career progress & changes. AK aspecting 6th, 9th,12th. Like this we can judge for every Dasha the main focus area for soul. Obviously, other Char Karaka’s play their parts but in hindsight, when you will look back, these will be the focus area for the soul. With Obeisance to Lord Ganapathi and Navgraha Lords, I dedicate this article at the holy feet of Sage Jaimini, the founder of Jaimini astrology. May he accept and bless this article. This article is in continuation from where we left in Chara Dasha- Part 1. Alternative Lagna’s Used in Chara Dasha Karakamsha: In the Birth chart, the rashi occupied by Atma Karaka (AK) in Navamsha becomes the Karakamsha Lagna which is really important for judging the chart and the predictions. All the events should also be verified by using the Karakamsha as Lagna specially education and career. We should also use Swamsha, which is the rashi containing the Atma Karaka (AK) in Navamsha and confirm the findings from birth chart, Karakamsha. Arudha Lagna: Arudha means Maya (Illusion/Image). It is also known as Pad Lagna. So Arudha Lagna means Maya associated with the Lagna i.e. self. In other words, through Arudha Lagna, we can judge how others view us or think about us. We calculate Arudha Lagna in the following way: 1. See how far from the Lagna, the Lagna lord has gone, counting the number of houses between the Lagna and the Lagna lord. 2. From Lagna lord count as many houses and you reach the Arudha Lagna. Eg: Suppose, for Aries Lagna, the Lagna lord Mars sits in Virgo (the sixth house). Now count six houses from Mars i.e. Aquarius which becomes the Arudha Lagna.

We can and should do it for each house and mark the pada’s of all the houses on the chart which will help us in predictions. Some authorities ask us to use exceptions rules for judging the pada of houses but let us go by the teachings of Shri K.N. Rao by not using any exception and calculate the pada’s of each house the same way we calculated for Lagna. Let’s understand how Arudha works. Suppose, we see a guy with a flashy Mercedes Car and feel how lucky that guy is. What if that Guy doesn’t feel the same and want even bigger car. Now the probability is that in the chart of that guy, the Arudha of 4th house may contain a benefic or number of benefics like Venus and/or Jupiter which is giving us the illusion of the guy being so lucky and must be very happy with his big expensive car but the 4th house deposits some malefics like Saturn, Mars, Rahu, Ketu etc. which don’t allow that guy to be satisfied with what he has and want even bigger car. That’s how Arudha works. Upapada Lagna: It’s the Arudha/Pada of 12th House. It’s very important for judgment of marriage timings and also marriage success or failure. Yoga’s in Jaimini System We don’t follow the regular Yoga’s of Parashari system in Jaimini. It has its own set of Raj Yoga’s which are any number of combinations, through conjunctions and Rashi aspects, between AK, AmK, PK, DK and 5th Lord. Some special yoga’s are as follows: 1. Moon and Venus conjunct or aspecting each other. 2. Moon aspected by many planets. We also have to see all the Raj Yoga’s in Navamsha (D-9). See if they decreasing in number or increasing. The effect will be accordingly. Also, see if the karaka’s have aspects from benefics or afflicted, both in Rashi chart and Navamsha and judge judiciously. Let’s take an example chart to illustrate all the concepts we have learned above: 4

Chara Karaka’s (Descending Order of Degree) AK: Saturn

BK: Mars

AmK: Jupiter

MK: Mercury

PK: Sun

DK: Moon

Jaimini Raj Yoga’s 1. Saturn (AK) & Jupiter (AmK) 2. Moon (DK) & Jupiter (AmK) 3. Sun ( PK) & Venus (5th Lord) Karakamsha Lagan: In Navamsha (D-9), AK is placed in Pisces. Hence, the Karakamsha Lagan becomes Pisces of Birth Chart (D-1).

Arudha Pada’s Arudha Lagan: The Lagan Lord – Mercury, is placed in the 9th House. So we count 9 houses from 9th house and reach 5th House (Libra). This becomes our Arudha Lagan (AL). Similarly, we calculate Arudha Pada for remaining houses. House 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12

Periods of Happiness & Unhappiness 6

By Yuvraj on October 15, 2013 • ( 0 ) Great Happiness will come to pass in the Dasa or Sub-Periods of: 1. Navamsa(D9) dispositor of Lagan Lord 2. Planet posted in the sign together with the 7th Lord. 3. Navamsa(D9) dispositor of 5th Lord. We can also check for 9th lord Navamsa dispositor. 4. Dasa of the star lord of Lagan(Asc) gives rise in career. 5. Dasa of the star lord of Yogakaraka will also give rise in career.

Expect Problems in the following periods:

1. Navamsa dispositor of Saturn 2. Navamsa dispositor of Mandi 3. Navamsa dispostor of the planet in whose sign the 8th lord is placed. Weakest of the above three will destroy the native happiness. Also, check for these periods : 1. Dasa of star lord of natal Ketu may give misfortunes.

Judicious use of the above technique should be done. Sages have given us hint and they had faith that only the intelligent or the one destined to use the particular rule will be able to decipher it. I believe that every rule written in Classics is true, it is the astrologer who is not able to decipher or use it correctly. They were not fools to right such rules. Of course other rules may apply when you apply these rules.

Obviously, Dasha’s should support the event, as in all cases. Always remember the importance of Desh( Place), Kaal (Time & Circumstances) & Paatra(Background,Circumstances of Native). Will keep on adding more. 1. Whenever Saturn Transit over the Natal Mars, the life takes a prominent turn. Also, when Saturn transits through 4th, 7th and 11th House from Natal Mars, vital changes are experienced. 2. Whenever Saturn transits over the Ascendant, it brings prominent changes. Partially, when Saturn aspects the Ascendant during its transit. 3. When transiting Saturn aspects Ascendant and the Moon simultaneously, that brings promotions, elevations, appreciation. 4. When transit Saturn has an influence over the 10th lord, the transit is quiet promising and rewarding for native, though it will make u do some hard work. 5. During Rahu MD, if Tr Saturn moves in the 8th sign from Moon Navamsa(D-9) sign. It will create a lot of troubles for subject regarding finances, career and other things. During this period even favorable yoga will not work. 6. Saturn transit through 7th sign from Moon’s Navamsa(D-9) sign and if Mars AD in Rahu MD is ON, then health and finances may suffer.

Rule 1: When Saturn transit through the Navamsa(D-9) sign of the 8th lord from a particular sign or trine of it and Saturn comes on around the degree(orb influence) of the lord of the transiting sign, the house gives bad results. Also, the relative indicated by the bhava may be endangered. How to Apply: 1. First look at where transit Saturn is i.e. in which sign & trines of it. You get 3 signs. Eg: These days Saturn is transiting through Libra and the trines to it are Aquarius and Gemini. Now 3 sign are Gemini, Libra and Aquarius. 2. Then look at the natal Navamsa, check if these 3 sign have any planets. 3. Suppose, there are planets, then see which house(A) they are connected in Birth Chart. 4. Then count the sixth house from there, which would be house (B). 5. Keep in mind that the things related with that house (B) will be endangered. 6. Bad result will be felt when transiting Saturn will move around the degree(in the natal chart) of the lord of transiting sign or the Navamsa(D-9) of that planet. Rule 2: The house from which the 8th House when transitted by Saturn and the other 3 houses from which the respective 8th House when aspected by Saturn, suffers afflictions. How to Apply:

1. In the birth chart, see which is the house from which Transit Saturn is falling in 8th. Eg: These days Saturn is transiting through Libra. So its passing through 8th from Pisces. Now see where the Pisces sign falls in your birth chart. 2. Also, check the 3 aspects of Saturn i.e. 3rd, 7th and 10th. These aspected houses must also be 8th from some house. Mark them. 3. Now these 4 houses stands to get afflicted and show some negative events. Note: Do remember to use this technique judiciously and apply them with an open mind. Also, remember to check for any benefic influence which may provide protective cover. But some harm still be there.

Astrology Rules for Child Birth

Obviously, Dasha’s should support the event, as in all cases. Always remember the importance of Desh( Place), Kaal (Time & Circumstances) & Paatra(Background,Circumstances of Native). Rule 1: Saturn should have aspected the: a) 5th House/Lord or b) 9th House/Lord Within 9 months of the birth of child. Rule 2: Same as above with Jupiter. Rule 3: Same as above with Mars but within 75 days. Rule 4: Moon should have aspected any of the 4 points above or Moon Rashi of parents but within 72 hours. * Mars must aspect the 5th house/lord or 9th house/lord of the mother when the 9th month of pregnancy is nearing. Same with father. * Same with Sun. 10

* At birth or a day or 2 days before the birth, the Moon of the new born will invariably be either a) Lagna of Father/Mother or b) On the 5th house/lord or 9th House/Lord of mother/father or c) Sometimes the Moon- Sign of parents. * Child Birth takes place in DBA of planets connected with a) Lagna or Lagna Lord b) 5th House/Lord c) 9th House/Lord * Also check all the above points in Saptamsha(D-7) * When a women conceives, Mars aspects either her 5th House/Lord. Again, when a women delivers her baby, Mars performs the same functions. At the time of birth or near the time of birth of a child, Jupiter(Sthira Putra-karka) will conjunct/aspect (Rasi Aspect) the Chara Putra-karaka(PK) in the mother and the fathers chart. We can also confirm the same in D-7 chart.

I would also like to dedicate this article to Shri. K.N. Rao, for enlightening us with his research on Jaimini System & Chara and other Jaimini Dasha’s. Without him we wouldn’t have learned the ropes of Chara Dasha. I would like to show my gratitude, in all humbleness, towards him. I hope I am able to do justice to the techniques he has shared with us. Having attended the recent Workshop on Chara Dasha, blessed by Shri. K.N. The article assumes that the reader have the knowledge of basics of Parashari System of Astrology.

In Parashari system of astrology, we use Sthira Karaka. Sthira means Fixed i.e. the Karaka (Significator of a particular thing) is fixed in Parashari system. In Jaimini system of astrology, we use Chara Karaka’s where Chara means Movable i.e. the Karaka can vary from chart to chart. But the important point to remember is that the Sthira Karaka’s can also be used effectively in Jaimini System. First, let’s understand the Chara Karaka’s identification and usage in a horoscope. 7 Planets compete for becoming different Chara Karaka excluding Rahu & Ketu: 1. Atma Karaka (AK): The planet which attains the highest degree of longitude becomes the Atma Karaka of the horoscope. Here “Atma” means Soul and is the most important feature in a person’s life. What we are living here on earth is nothing but the Journey of Soul which is depicted in a horoscope by AK.Atma Karaka is related to the 1st / Lagan of the horoscope. AK represents all the significations of the ascendant like Body, Physique, Appearance, Complexion, Intellect, Character, General Health Longevity, Fame, and Strength & Weakness etc. 2. Amatya Karaka (AmK): The planet which attains the Second highest degree of longitude becomes the Amatya Karaka. “Amatya” means Minister i.e. a person at high post. By looking at AmK we can judge the significations of 2nd House of the horoscope i.e. Financial Status, Primary Education, Livelihood/Profession, Speech, Family, Food Habits, Face, Eyes ( Right eye in particular), Clothes & Ornaments etc. We can also judge about the significations of the 5th house i.e. Learning, Progeny, Knowledge, Seat of Power, Falling from Position, Sacred Spells, Speculation, Creativity, Entertainment etc. Significations of 9th House also under purview of AmK i.e. Higher Education, Fortune, Dharma etc. and also the 10th House significations which are Career, Honour, Rise in profession, Royalty and Pilgrimage etc. 3. Bhratri Karaka (BK): The planet which attains the Third highest degree of longitude qualifies for the post of Bhratri Karaka. “Bhratri” means Brothers and BK can be used to judge the significations for 3rd house i.e. Younger Siblings, neighbors, short-journeys, courage, hobbies, ability and death of parents etc. We can also judge the significations of 9th house i.e. Father, Guru, Long-Journeys, Religion, and Higher Education etc., and the 11th House of horoscope i.e. Fulfilment of Desire, Elder brother & sisters, Gains, Friends, Expectations etc. 4. Matri Karaka (MK): The planet which attains the Fourth highest degree of longitude qualifies for the post of Matri Karaka. “Matri” means Mother. We can extend MK for the significations of the 4th house like Mother, Property, Vehicles, Happiness, Education, Relatives, Land & Agriculture and Throne etc. 5. Putra Karaka (PK): The planet which attains the Fifth Highest degree of longitude becomes the Putra Karaka. “Putra” means Son. We can judge the significations of the 5th House from PK i.e. Children, Wisdom, Romance, Sacred Spells, Intellect, Speculation &

Lottery, Mantra, Pregnancy, Creativity etc. We also extend PK for the significations of 9th House, as it is 5th from 5th. 6. Gnati Karaka (GK): The planet which comes sixth in descending order from AK becomes the Gnati Karaka. “Gnati” means Relations. It represents 6th house and its significations in a horoscope i.e. Enemies, Maternal-Relatives, Diseases, Debts, Disagreements, Competitions, Legal Proceedings, Servitude etc. Similarly, we can also examine the significations of 8th & 12th house from GK. 7. Dara Karaka (DK): The seventh and the last in order becomes the Dara Karaka. “Dara” means Wife. All the significations of the 7th House comes under the purview of DK like Spouse, Business-Partner, Trade, Foreign Travel, Pad-Prapti, Enemies in open and Public Image etc. Rashi

Order of Dasha: Here the order of dasha is either direct (anti-clockwise) or indirect (clockwise). Direct Order: Aries, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Aquarius and Pisces. Indirect Order: Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Scorpio, Sagittarius and

Capricorn.

Eg: For Aries Lagan the dasha order will be: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces. For Taurus Lagan the dasha order will be: Taurus, Aries, Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn, Sagittarius, Scorpio, Libra, Virgo, Leo, Cancer, Gemini. The same rule applies to sub-periods but the main Dasha Rashi’s sub-period comes last in order. Eg: For Aries Lagan (Direct), the order of sub-periods for Aries Dasha: Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces and then Aries in the last. For Taurus Lagan (In-direct), the order of sub-periods for Taurus Dasha: Aries, Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn, Sagittarius, Scorpio, Libra, Virgo, Leo, Cancer, Gemini and in the last Taurus. Calculation of Duration of Dasha Count the number of houses from the Dasha Rashi to the rashi lord. Deduct 1 from the total. You get the concerned Rashi Dasha duration. Direct Order Rashi’s: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Libra, Scorpio and Sagittarius. Indirect Order Rashi’s: Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces. Eg: Let’s assume: For Aries Dasha (Direct), the Aries lord Mars is placed in 5th house from Aries. We get 5, deduct 1 from it and you get the total duration of Aries Dasha i.e. 4 years. For Cancer Dasha (In-direct), the Lord of Cancer-Moon is placed in 10th house from Cancer. We get 10, deduct 1 from it and you get the total duration of Cancer Dasha i.e. 9 years.

Note: 1. If the Lord of a rashi is placed in the same rashi, we give the dasha 12 years without any deductions. 2. For Scorpio Dasha, special rules should be observed as it has the dual lordship of Mars & Ketu. 1. One thing which the scribe would like to highlight here is the importance & judicious use of Desh, Kala & Patra, when used with Arudha System, Bhavat Bhavam, Sthira and Chara Karaka’s, gives excellent results. Although many more BSP’s are yet to be published, a day may come when we have multiple BSP’s with us for each year. The best way for good results is to start with the earliest year BSP available and end with the latest BSP applicable. Create the life portrait which will help the astrologer to shape the predictions by understanding the mental conditioning, circumstances in life and the important events of the native, which have already happened. You will yourself see some outstanding predictions before your eyes. Readers are advised to rigorously test all the technique with an open mind before accepting it.
