Height/Clutter Validation Tool Quick User Guide  What this tool can do: 1) Validate the index.txt files(s) and the menu.txt file(s) for the clutter data by checking whether the files are single-space separated (Myriad compatible) and terminated by one new line character (Enterprise compatible); 2) Validate the index.txt file(s) for the height data by checking whether the files are singlespace separated (Myriad compatible) and terminated by one new line character (Enterprise compatible); 3) Generate the analysis report for the clutter data, which lists all the clutter values found in the clutter data files as well as those values which have no match in the menu.txt file(s); 4) If the original index or/and menu files are invalid, generate the new index.txt or/and menu.txt file(s) as well as the batch command file, which is run to replace the original files with the new files.

 Important notes about the tool usage: 1) If the option “Include the index/menu file(s) in subfolders” or “Include the index file(s) in subfolders” is chosen, the tool will not only validate the index/menu file directly located under the original top-level index file location, but also all the index/menu file(s) located under the subfolders. Also for the clutter data, there will be different analysis reports generated for the clutter files located at different levels of folders; 2) The tool does the validation/analysis based on every original index.txt file it finds. For the clutter data, please make sure that there is a menu.txt file at the top-level location. If the menu.txt file does not exist in a subfolder, the tool will only give a warning message and generate a new menu.txt file under the corresponding target subfolder if the “Generate new menu file(s)” option is checked; 3) The tool will stop and give the error message if there is any invalid entry in the index file and any clutter data file could not be found. The tool will only give a warning message if any height data file does not exist; 4) For the clutter data, by default the tool generates the analysis report (analysis.txt), which only lists all clutter values found in the clutter files. If the option “Report the data difference between the menu file and the clutter files” is chosen, the analysis report will also give a list of clutter values contained in the clutter files, but not in the menu file; 5) The tool creates the analysis reports, the new index files and the new menu files in the same directory structure as the original index and menu files;

6) A batch file (copyfiles.bat) is generated at the location of the new top-level index/menu file. Running this batch file will replace the original index/menu files with the new ones; 7) The message log is editable, which means you can remove/copy the text in the message log if you want.
