THE STORY OF HAROOT & MAROOT
UNDERSTANDING WITH THE TOPIC:
As the Quran (Chap No.2 Verse No.106) claims mysterious existence of two Angels namely Haroot & Maroot and leaves people digging the real antecedents of both. Since many attempts have been made so far but no two scholars are agreed with each others about the above said personality. I happened to go through as possible literature as I could and found many controversies in this regard. There is a translation of Quran by Alama Ahmed Raza Khan, in exaggeration of that translation it is written that the Kabala was first introduced by these two angels by the will of God. There are many questions which are to be answered yet. Let me write these questions in a sequence in which above verse is. 1.
Who
were Haroot & Maroot, Human, Angles or Satan?
2. Of what purpose God (Allah) sent them upon the earth? 3.
What
sort of knowledge they possessed?
These are some of the main questions which are frequently asked to & by the scholars in this account. Ill bring these questions under discussion later. I was wondering that how to get on this arguable topic and finding the most accurate answer of frequently asked question, few of them are mentioned above. I , then, decided to start form fo rm the tail, Name of the city (Babylon) revealed in the verse (You can call it head of the topic also because it is mentioned in Quran). Quran) .
Origin:
As we know Haroot & Maroot were of Babylon, capital city of Babylonia. I have been digging Babylon is about the origin of the word Babylon, after a short struggle I found that T he he name Babylo lu , meaning the Greek form of Babel , which is derived in turn from the Semitic form Babi lu The Gate of God . I The . I became more curious, after finding the real meaning of the word Babylon
and started arising question inside that why the city was named so sacredly? Seems, as if there was something religious & devouting made people of that era name the city holy. It seems, as if God (Allah) has done something extra-ordinary within the whole city. Then again arises another question that why Quran reveals the name of the City openly?
Whereas,
Quran mentions many
events & personalities but not mentioning of the City & Places in all cases. Let it cut-short, Understanding with the history of the Name of the city, helps to develop a strong theory about the sacred existence of Haroot & Maroot long time before Hadrat Solomon, over an extent above mentioned verse of Quran proves the ge nerated theory correct. Now come to the next that whether both who where both?
Well
it was a debatable topic few
days ago for me but now I have concluded that both were not human beings. 1. Let us consider for awhile, they were Human then we cannot treat them less than a Prophet (all angles are treated as Messengers, Rasool, of God) and if they were prophets, Nabi, then why they were called Angels (Malaika)? None of the sent Prophets was called Angel (Malaika). Hence we cannot attribute them as prophets, Hence they were not Human beings. And Quran clearly has declared that If Angels were living upon the earth then God (Allah) does have sent Angles as his Prophets to preach & teach them. 2.

was written by Syed Bdi-ud-Din Shah Rashdi translated into Urdu by Dr. Jamal-ud-Din Ansari. Syed Bdi ud Din Shah shb was of the views that both Haroot & Maroot were
neither Human nor Angels but both were demons. He was claiming in his book that Jadu
is used for destructive activities only and placed some saying of Ashab-e-Rasool on page no. 62, he copies the sayings of-Hadrat Ibn Abbas God (Allah) do not reveal/descend Jadu ad r at Rabi e God (Allah) didnt reveal Jadu upon Haroot o Maroot. H ad r at
After quoting these two sayings and some other references he proved that both were not angels but of Satanic party and taught Black Magic to the people of Babylon. I was questioning, it sounds as the respected writer of the book had forgotten the verse of the Quran which he was debating on.
Whereas

& Amliyat (sort of Black Magic) from page no. 72 to onward. Though there were many samples given but worth mentioning a sample he quoted from Maulana Ashraf Thanvi shb on page no. 74, it was a verse of Quran which can be used for separation between two friends or wife husband as well. Afterward he condemns such magically effective activities. Let us cut it short, and asks the respectfully if Quranic verses are being used for magical (jadu) activities, will he ever dare to call Quran the book of magic? (NaazuBilah). It is a beautifully learnt fact that each and every practice of any type has its pious origin. God (Allah) has created knowledge and God (Allah) do not create destructive knowledge. Now it is easy to learn whatever both possessed, was revealed by God (Allah) and God (Allah) creates virtuous only, its man who uses it in desired way. 3.
While
I was doing my research work on the topic I have been hearing and reading a question,
whether God sent Haroot o Maroot? I Maroot? I heard & read many answer to this question but I wonder and asks a question to all of them.. Who do you think have sent you here? If God (Allah) is
that much powerful to send you all down upon the earth, why n ot these two? 4.
Of what purpose God (Allah) sent them upon the earth and what sort of knowledge they possessed? There is a very famous story of Haroot & Maroots coming upon the
earth, narrates that both were sent down for a test of human from divine but they had been unlucky when a star Venus turned into the shape of comely women and strayed them from the given task. So both were asked to choose the place for punishment of
their deed. Both decided to be punished in the earthly life rather than hereafter. Now many questions arise; a. As it is admitted, according to the story, both were angels and sent to test
human beings whereas it is really a stunning factor revealed in the story about angels that testers were tested . But God (Allah) says about angels in Quran; Surah Al-Hajar verse no. 8 we descend angels with truth only Surah Tehreem verse no. 6 what God (Allah) orders/directs them, they do not
disobey it and do according to the direction are given to them. Surah Ambiya verse no. 27 Just follow the directions of God (Allah).
As if both were sent by God Go d (Allah) to test human being, were His directed angels then there is no possibility of going against the directions of God(Allah), If still some on is consistent upon the story then He/She should be aware of the facts which are explained in Quran clearly about the Angels. b. It is learnt from Quran, Bible & Torah that Angels are not descended upon the earth unless they are required for revelations upon His prophets (upon chosen ones) & when God (Allah) shows his wrath upon the people, sends torment. These are two learnt situations when God (Allah) sends His angels upon the surface of earth. Let me quote the example of Hadrat Loot, when God (Allah) decided to descend His torment, He sent his angels (appearing like human beings) and the people of Hadrat Loot were tested by His angels, finally Hadrat Loot were directed by God (Allah) to leave the city. Afterward angels brought torment upon the whole city and destroyed them all. Now I think, I will be able to make my discussion understood.
Whatever
God (Allah) has done
till yet and whatever He will do more is only for the betterment of His creatures.
What
I have
learnt and believe it that Man is restricted in all manners so how is it possible He could generate such knowledge which is known as Jadu, science etc. that is God (Allah) who creates new things, so he created the knowledge which affects magically upon the earth but that is Man who couldnt utilize it positively. God (Allah) sends His special sort of knowledge through his angels. As in above cited verse, if we read complete verse;
Surah Baqra verse no. 102 and follow what the devil recited over the Kingdom of Solomon. Solomon did not disbelieve, it is the devil who disbelieved, teaching people magic and that which was sent down upon the angels Haroot and Maroot in Babylon. T h hey ey didnt teach anyone, until both had said: we have been sent as a trial; do not disbelieve. From they learnt how they might separate a husband and his wife. Surely, God (Allah) revealed His special knowledge long time ago Hadrat Solomon reign thats why the city Babylon was famous of black magic because the Man couldnt utilize the given knowledge in constructive way but destructively. The Black Magic was famous years before Hadrat Moses also, as it comes in; Surah Yonas verse no. 79 when Pharos said: all expert e xpert magicians be presented before me The same knowledge was being used for destructive activities and known as Black Magic. In the reign of Hadrat Solomon people was practicing Black Magic frequently. Anyways, let us conclude Haroot & Maroot were angels descended by God (Allah) for trial upon the earth and they taught the knowledge which had both affects constructive and destructive, They were given task by God (Allah) and logically testers cant be tested by any other task as it is learnt from His practices, He has done upon the earth. The story is not valid Haroot & Maroot were not punished if they had been failed to complete their task then such knowledge (Noor Ilam, Kala ilam, etc.) should have been out of the mind & range of a Man.
