1. a. Joya Oil Painting Upon looking at this painting, I was not able to see any images or meaning in it since it is an abstract. However, upon reading the tet beside it, I was then able to imagine how the shapes and colors was used to depict the di!erent "elds o# study o!ered in the $ollege o# home economics back in the sities. I guess that the random rectangular shapes can represent the tetiles made by students under the %epartment o# $lothing, &etiles and 'elated (rts )%$&'(*, the dark brown "gures serves as mother and child in relation to those under the %epartment o# +amily i#e and $hild %evelopment )%+$%*, the triangular shape inside a circle stands #or the %epartment o# Home -conomics -ducation )%H-ed*, )%H-ed*, and lastly, the other colors represents the %epartment o# +ood cience and /utrition )%+/*. which I think, emphasi9es that #amily is the main unit o# society. &he environmental meaning ;ust came #rom the color, which is green. <. &eodora (lon9o is the mother o# Jose 'i9al. &he $H- 0ain 8uilding was named a#ter her because she is a great eample o# a true home economist since she applied home economics in upli#ting the 6uality o# li#e o# her #amily and that o# the community.
