Background 

Since the invention of flying vehicles, scientists looked for ways to reduce drag acting on the aircraft.



Tail largely contributes to the total parasitic drag.



There came the idea of Tailless aircraft.

Further studies showed that tailless aircraft have good stealth characteristics.



This made them even more important.



Other Advantages are as follows:  Greater  Better

performance at higher angles of attack.

at combat manoeuvers.

But the lack of inherent stability let them down.



With the advent of modern controls, it was now possible to provide stability artificially.



B-2 Spirit Bomber is the most famous example of a tailless aircraft with artificial stability.

Aims 

The project is aimed at flight control system design for cruise phase of a Tailless UAV.



Different controller design schemes would be exploited and evaluated for performance and robustness in lateral and longitudinal channels.

Control law design implementation and evaluation for performance on non-linear simulation.
