Yamantaka's Blazing Razor of Extreme Repelling
I prostrate to the Lama Manjushri Yamantaka, Jampal Shinje Shed! What follows is the story of the 'Extreme Blazing Razor' of the Immortal Lord Manjushri. At a time long past, in the south at the sacred place of Yama was the great charnel ground known as 'The Most Fierce Inferno'. Within this awesome charnel ground was an immeasurable castle established in complete abundance. Innumerable were the displays of this terrifying charnel ground. Completely surrounding its center were water buffalo, elephants, hundreds of thousands of death lords, hundreds of thousands of nagas, and tens of thousands of mountain spirits and earth lords. Above all this upon a throne, a lotus, moon, and a blazing sun, the Lord Manjushri Yamantaka of sheer blazing wrath reveled about, standing with legs stretched and bent. Surrounding him, were the enlightened beings of the ten directions, the protectors of the ten directions, and his retinue of beings of this world and beyond. Dwelling together, they were much more vast and numerous than even the stars in the sky. At that time, the Lord Manjushri Yamantaka expounded the rare and precious secret tantras of the enlightened mind of Manjushri. All so-called demons were established in the deep equanimity of meditative absorption. Immediately after coming out of that state, all these haughty spirits and their retinues began to tremble with sheer fright and terror. Light rays emanated from the enlightened mind of primordial wisdom. From the points of these rays, meteoric iron wheels, iron hooks, iron nooses, iron chains, shackles, and bells limitlessly came forth. Hung Hung, Ha La La, Hu Lu Hu Lu, Dza Hung Bam Ho, and Eh Ah Ra Li Hring Hring resounded like a thousand thunderclaps! All these arrogant spirits were then immediately subjugated and tamed. To the Lord Manjushri Yamantaka, these spirits bowed, prayed for protection, and were established in bliss. Then, Vajrapani, the Lord of power and might, arose and supplicated Lord Yamantaka with devotion. At the time of this supplication, all of the evil spirits each came and offered up their vital life essences. In deep meditative absorption, the Lord Manjushri Yamantaka sang: "The Rudras disrupting the teachings of the Buddha and the turnings of the Dharma wheel must be subdued. All of you, in your tasks of subduing, you must not harm sentient beings."

After binding the entire retinue under oath with this command, Yamantaka taught the great root tantra of the 'Secret Moon of Manjushri's Mind' in four chapters, the tantra 'Secret Moon of Annihilating Arrogant Spirits' in eight chapters, the tantra of the 'Manjushri Yamantaka's Magical Wheel Unleashing the Fury inside the Heart of the Scorpion' in fifteen chapters, the tantra famous in the realms of gods as the 'Essential Meaning of the Fierce Mantra of the Savage Fury of the Scorpion's Heart' in seven chapters, as well as all the other root tantras, explanatory tantras, and individual tantras. By the power of these limitless transmissions, the retinue was established in absolute rapture! All these tantras were carefully collected by the powerful Lord Vajrapani. These were then entrusted to the master Garab Dorje, who in turn entrusted them to Manjushrimitra. Manjushrimitra then concealed the root tantra of the 'Secret Moon of Manjushri's Mind' in the stone pillar of the 'Naga Suppressing God' (This was later discovered by Jnanagarbha and transmitted to Tragtung Nagpo, who in turn gave them to Tsuglag Palge). All other tantras he gave to the master Shantigarbha. These were then given to Tsuglag Palge. From within all these tantras, the master Tsuglag Palge extracted the profound pith instructions on protection, repelling, slaying, and suppression. These were then given the name, 'Blazing Razor of Extreme Repelling', and transmitted to the master Padma. These were then given to the Nepali Vasudhara. Vasudhara's younger brother passed away. In Nub valley in Tibet he was reborn as the famous Nub Sangye Yeshe. Through the power of previous aspirations Nub Sangye Yeshe went to Kathmandu in Nepal and came before the presence of Vasudhara seven times. Vasudhara carefully transmitted all the tantras to him. These tantras were all received by being explained, listened to, and practiced in the language of Nepal. At the end of this time, Vasudhara bestowed upon him the entire cycle of the 'Blazing Razor of Extreme Repelling' hiding nothing. Placing a Manjushri upon Nub Sangye Yeshe's head, he sealed these instructions as not to be propagated to others until he had been ripened. When Nub Sangye Yeshe returned to Tibet, all the tantras widely flourished. Yet the time to reveal the pith instructions had not come. Thus he made the following aspiration, "In the times of the five rampant degenerations, may these meet with Ngagpas of fortunate karma, and may the enemies of Buddhists be defeated!"

Then, he concealed these at the Khoting Temple of Lhodrag and at Phungpo Riwoche. As for the hidden treasure of Riwoche, it was revealed by the fortunate tertön Gya Zhang Trom. Later it was entrusted to Lharje Nub Chung. Lharje Nub Chung, knowing about the hidden treasure of Lhodrag Khoting, went and revealed it. Around this time, when Tsurtön Rinchen Dorje was using magic to deal with Pongzhön Tönchung, his father, and son, Rolpo Metön, through the practice of repelling, caused a powerful magical attack to arise. Tsurtön Rinchen Dorje went before Lhamo Wangchug Dorje of Kharag and explained his story. He said, "The one they call Metönpa has been using repelling in the kingdom of Tsang destroying all without a trace." "I myself have a refined practice of repelling and the rest," was the reply. "Yet this is no good," he said, "for he is an expert with mudras and 'urmo' magic." "Then if you are in need of a profound practice of extreme repelling, Lharje Nub Chung has one like it," she said. So he left to go see Lharje Nub Chung. On his way he obtained some dyed wool, and coming before the presence of Lharje Nub Chung, offered it. Then he requested the instructions of 'Extreme Repelling'. Although he was given only a part of the instructions, he was satisfied. When he practiced these, a great magical display of a yellow muzzled stallion arose.. Taking with him some gold coins, he went before Lharje Nub Chung and offered them all and said, "It seems that there were parts missing to what you gave me, please I request you to grant me everything." Nub Chung replied, "When I didn't give you everything, it was because I gave you everything you came to get. Didn't you request a practice to create great magical displays?" Then fastening on his Ngagpa robes, he bestowed the meditation methods of the deity and everything else saying, "I swear on my own head that nothing is left out." Tsurtön Rinchen Dorje in turn took an oath not to instruct others until he had realized the instructions. Then he went back. He had two sons Jampal, who was eighteen and Tsurtön Wang Nge, who was fifteen. Together the three of them continuously did the mantras of protection, repelling, and slaying. Because of this, Metön,

his master, and four servants began vomiting blood, and then died. By stabbing the effigies of Pongzhön Tönchung, his seven sons, and sixty-one servants and then doing the practices, Pongzhön Tönchung, his father, sons, and sixty-one servants were all liberated over the course of nine months. These profound instructions of the 'Blazing Razor of Extreme Repelling' were then entrusted by Tsurtön Rinchen Dorje to Kuzhang Pal. Then they were given to Tsultrim Rinchen, Changchub Gönpo, the one named Namkhai, the one named Tsultrim, and Gyatön Bönpo Rigdzin Sangwa. Then these instructions were offered to the allseeing victorious one known as Ratna, Rinchen Phuntsog. Through profound practice, the great awareness holder Rinchen Phuntsog beheld the true face of the deity continually. These were entrusted to the one with the name Dharma, Chögyal Phuntsog, endowed with the warmth of perfection, who through profound practice beheld the true face of the deity continually. Then they were entrusted to the one named the Tshungme Manga, Tashi Phuntsog, who through profound practice beheld the true face of the deity more than a few times. To my great delight, I was graciously given these instructions. By binding myself to practice for a period, I saw the true face many times and became accepted by the deity. Having been accepted by the supreme deity, I actualized the fruitions of accomplishment. Relatively, the four enlightened activities were accomplished since beginningless time. Ultimately, I easily accomplished the five kayas, the five primordial wisdoms, and the state of the primordial wisdom deity Manjushri Yamantaka without any doubt of this being the true Yidam. There is no hesitation and only certainty that this is the profound extract of the innermost essence of the great secret unsurpassable Vajrayana. This is how previously the 'Blazing Razor of Extreme Repelling' passed through Tsuglag Palge. Before this, the history is abbreviated. The introductions to the tantra of the 'Secret Moon', the life stories of all the lineage Lamas, Rinchen Phuntsog's and his son's records of teachings received, and other sources were carefully collected in a way that was easy to understand. This was composed by Rigdzin Chökyi Dragpa, a twelfth generation descendent of the Kyura family of the great and glorious Drigungpa, in the year of the iron female sheep in my own thirty-seventh year on the sixth day of the eleventh month at the great castle of Tashi Tshug.
