Design Speed
Speed is one of the most important and governing factor to mark the importance of Highway associated with safety and comfort during travel. It has great impact on the economy of the traffic operation as well as saving of precious time. It plays pivotal role in the geometric design of highways. In the project highway of NH-98, there is a significant percentage of slow as well as heavy vehicles. A design speed in rural areas has been adopted as 80 kmph where as in Urban/Built-up congested area; the design speed proposed is 40 km/h. Adopted Design Speed Km/h Type of Section Ruling / desirable Rural 100 Urban 65
