face2face Written Placement Plac ement Test Tahr’s Gud and Answr Ky The Written Placement Test is designed to be used beore students start working with one o the fa2fa Student’s Books (Starter to Advanced). It checks students’ knowledge o the key language areas taught in each level o fa2fa . It is intended to indicate the Student’s Book and the starting point within that Student’s Book that is most appropriate or the student. You can use the Written Placement test on its own or in conjunction with the Oral Placement Test i you have the time and acilities to interview each student. Admnstrng th Wrttn Tst
Allow a maximum o 45 minutes or the test. Photocopy one copy o the Written Placement Test Question Sheet and one copy o the Written Placement Test Answer Sheet or each student. Ask students to write their answers directly on to the Answer Sheet. You may want to discourage students rom making notes on the Question Sheets so that they can be used again. The Written Placement Test gets progressively more difcult. You can advise students to stop the test i the questions are too difcult or them. Discourage students rom guessing. Students should do the tests on their own under exam conditions. Ater 45 minutes, collect the Written Placement Test Question Sheets and the Written Placement Test Answer Sheets and correct the Answer Sheets. Mark each student’s score at the bottom o the Answer Sheet.
Pang Studnts aftr th Wrttn Tst In the Written Placement Test, there are 16 questions or the Starter level and 20 questions or each o the other fve levels (Elementary to Advanced). The frst 16 questions (Starter) should be marked initially.
I a student scores less than 14 out o the total o 16, you should place him/her at the beginning o fa2fa Starter. I a student scores more than 14 out o the total o 16, mark the next 20 questions (17–36) (Elementary). I a student scores less than 34 out o the total o 36, you should place the student according to his/her score at one o the starting points in fa2fa Elementary, as given in the table below. I a student scores more than 34 out o the total o 36, mark the next 20 questions (37–56) (Pre-intermediate). I a student scores less than 54 out o the total o 56, you should place the student according to his/her score at one o the starting points in fa2fa Pre-intermediate, as given in the table below. I a student scores more than 54 out o the total o 56, mark the next 20 questions (57–76) (Intermediate). I a student scores less than 74 out o the total o 76, you should place the student according to his/her score at one o the starting points in fa2fa Intermediate, as given in the table below.
