The resistance between Phase-Phase-Neutral-Earth must neve usual neverr be less le ss than 0.5 M Ohms f or the usual supply voltages. In additio additionn to the leakage current due to insulation resistance, resis tance, there is a f urther current leakage in the reactance of the insulation, because it acts as the dielectric of a capacitor. This current dissipates no energy and is not harmful, but we wish to measure the resistance of the insulation, so DC Voltage is used to prevent reactance f rom being included included in the measurement .
