Numerous tests have demonstrated the enhanced safety and reliability (even in the presence of ozone and UV radiation, at extreme temperatures, and when exposed to high mechanical loadings in the event of storms or icing. The extraordinarily high resistance to fracture makes them immune to vandalism. This means there is no interruption in electrical power supply and thus no loss of income.
With a standardized range of fiber-reinforced epoxy rods of different lengths and variable shapes for silicone shielding, we are able to provide optimized individual solutions as quickly as possible – for any size of transmission line and any type of mast design. We keep strictly to deadlines and offer short delivery periods.
Furthermore, the low weight and high inherent stability of SIMOTEC composite insulators reduce the effort associated with the construction of towers. Foundations, transport and erection also involve far less expenditure and this considerably reduces system costs.

Flexible Choice of Creepage Distance with SC and HC Shed Profiles Thanks to the hydrophobic properties of the silicone SIMOTEC composite insulators also exhibit superior electrical performance when exposed to heavy contamination. With an SC or HC shed profile they satisfy the stringent requirements of the creepage distance classes specified in IEC 815. The desired creepage distance can be fixed individually by the number of small sheds used. Each shed increases or reduces the creepage distance by 60 mm (2.36 inch). The creepage distance of an insulator with an arcing distance of 1000 mm (39.37 inch) and SC profile can be as much as 2500 mm (98.43 inch), and with an HC profile as much as 3600 mm (141.73 inch).
With an SC profile the creepage distance is equivalent to two-and-half times the arcing distance.Each small shed increases/reduces the creepage distance by 60 mm (2.36 inch).

The design of the corona rings was optimized by means of computer simulation of the electrostatic fields. No extreme field increase therefore occurs at the joint between the silicone and fittings. Up to a voltage of around 170 kV SIMOTEC insulators do not require corona rings. For higher voltages we offer customized versions.
