Your application requires completing the application form and atta ching two documents in Word or pdf format: a personal essay/statement and a minimum of one letter of recommendation. Both documents are very important to the scholarship committee. Suggested topics for your documents
PERSONAL STATEMENT/ESSAY – NOT a resume or CV
Explain how you came to be interested in the gemology or jewelry field Mention your aspirations and goals, and how a scholarship will help you achieve them Tell us what you plan to use the scholarship for and what you will contribute You may choose to discuss your work experience & educational background Business/family background is another possible topic

From a professional company or person, not a relative or family member (if unavailable , acceptable sources are non-profit organizations: organizations: a teacher, a community organization organization to which you belong, a place where w here you volunteer, or similar organizations) The letter must be current (within current (within the past 6 months) and must include the contact information of information of the writer (address, phone and possibly email address - (on company letterhead if possible ) They tell us who they are and how long they have worked with you, or known you They tell us why they want to recommend you for a scholarship ( not not for employment ) They tell us why they believe you are deserving of a scholarship and why they believe you will be successful because of a scholarship
Apply between March 1 and April 30, 2014 for distance education and lab class scholarships for new enrollments that begin during the second half of 2014* 2014 *. All applicants will be notified of their status by mid-June 2014.
The next scholarship cycle is June 15 through October 31, 2014 For on-campus, distance education and lab classes that start in 2015
If you are awarded a scholarship, you are not eligible to apply again for five years. * Must enroll by Dec. 31, 2014 and only after receiving a scholarship.
