600mg/day, 10mg/kg/day ADVERSE REACTIONS
Indications: active tuberculosis, and meningococcal meningococcal carriers.
EENT: red discoloration of tears
Prevetion of disease caused by Haemophilus Influenzae type B in close contact.
GI: abdominal pain, diarrhea, heartburn, flatuelence, nausea, vomitting
Contraindications: Hypersensitivity, Hypersensitivity, concurent indinavir, nelfinvir, pyrazinamide, or saquinavir.
GU: red discoloration of urine MISC: red discoloration of all body fluids HEMAT: thrombocytopenia

NURSING CONSIDERATIONS
HEALTH TEACHINGS
Perform mycobacterial studies and susceptibility susceptibility tests prior to and periodically during therapy to detect possible resistance.
Advise patient to take medication once daily, as indicated, and not to skip doses or douple up on missed dose.
Assess lung sound and character and amount of sputum periodically during therapy.
Emphasize the importance of continuing therapy even after symptoms have subsided. Inform patient that salive, sputum, urine, feces and other body fluids may become red-or-orange to redbrown and that soft contact lenses may become permanently discolored.
