Introduction PRPC Personal Edition 7.1.6 provides a learning environment for a single developer. This version of PRPC is fully functional but performance is limited by the speed and memory of your workstation. Rules and applications you develop with the Personal Edition can be saved and moved to one or more full PRPC systems on 7.1.6 or a later version.
What Gets Installed The Personal Edition installation package includes: n
Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 1.7.0_45 and Developer Kit (JDK) 1.7.0_45 (64 bit)

PostgreSQL 9.1.6
n
Apache Tomcat 7.0.28
n
PRPC 7.1.6 Personal Edition
Prerequisites Before installing Personal Edition, confirm that your workstation meets the following prerequisites: n
Intel-based personal computer or laptop with at least 2GB+ of free RAM running a 64-bit version of Microsoft Windows 7

5GB of free disk space
n
A supported browser version: n
Microsoft Internet Explorer version 8 or higher
n
Mozilla Firefox version 5 or higher
n
Google Chrome version 9 or higher
Installing Personal Edition 1. Download the PRPC_PE_win64.zip file from your installation kit. 2. Extract the contents to a directory on your workstation. This directory name cannot contain spaces. 3. In that directory, double-click install.bat. 4. When the Personal Edition Installation dialog window displays, click
.
5. Carefully review information in the Overview and Prerequisites window to ensure that your Personal Edition installs successfully. Click
.
6. On the License Agreement window, review the software license for Personal Edition and its thirdparty products. Click
.
7. The Components to be installed window displays. All of the components necessary for the install are pre-selected for you.
Optionally, if you do not want to automatically start PRPC when the installation completes, clear the Launch PRPC checkbox. Click
.
8. On the Directories Selection window, browse for and select the location of the directory where you want to install the Personal Edition. Otherwise, it creates a PRPCPersonalEdition directory in your local directory.
The directory you select must have at least 5 GB of free disk space and must allow a nonadministrative user to create instances in that directory. Click
.
9. The Port Configuration window displays the default port assignment that the Personal Edition uses for the Database and Tomcat.
Click to verify that the default ports are available. If there are conflicts, enter a different port number and run the check again. Click
.
10. Click to launch the install process. Output and Error logs display in the window so you can monitor the installation process.
11. When the installation completes, a confirmation message displays.
Click OK. 12. Click
to close the installation window.
13. If you accepted the default post install process to Launch PRPC, the PRPC login screen displays when the installation is complete.
If you did not select the default, see the Using Shortcuts to Start, Log in and Shutdown Personal Edition section of this document for instructions. 14. Log in to the PRPC instance as
[email protected] with a password of install to verify that you can access the Designer Studio.
Personal Edition is now installed and ready for you to configure features and build applications.
Using Shortcuts to Start, Log in and Shutdown Personal Edition As you work with Personal Edition, you can stop and start the PRPC instance as you work through your testing and configuration. This allows you to free up the disk space used by PRPC when you are not actively using Personal Edition. To do this, use the three PRPC shortcuts that were added to your desktop during the installation.

Starting Personal Edition Use this shortcut to start Personal Edition when it has been shut down or when the Tomcat window is closed. 1. Click the
PRPC 716 Start up shortcut to start PRPC.
2. The start up process is logged in a CMD window. When the server has started and displays the following message, you can launch the login shortcut to log into PRPC. INFO: Server Startup in

3. You can minimize the Tomcat window but it must remain open while you work in Personal Edition.
Logging into Personal Edition Use this shortcut to launch the PRPC signon screen after the server has started. 1. Click the
PRPC 716 Login shortcut to display the signon screen.
2. Enter a User ID and Password. 3. Click Log In.
Shutting down Personal Edition Use this shortcut to shut down the Personal Edition server after you log out of Personal Edition. This also closes the Tomcat window. n
Click the
PRPC 716 Shutdown shortcut to start the shutdown process.
Uninstalling Personal Edition When you are finished with Personal Edition, you can easily remove it from your laptop. Before you remove i t, you can package and save your work into a separate file to import it into another PRPC application. 1. Save your work (recommended) You can save the work in Personal Edition by using the Application Packaging Wizard to export your work including work objects and data. Save the export ZIP file to a safe location. Select Designer Studio > Application > Distribution > Package to start the wizard. Close the Tomcat and logging windows 4. Remove Personal Edition Delete the PRPCPersonalEdition program directory that was created during the installation. Delete the three Personal Edition shortcuts on your desktop.
