(a)e sure that the user account that you are using to restore the site database is in the "+istributed ,-( sers" account on your *ame 'enerator server. If both of these chec) out& then the wrong username / password may have been used when installing the *ame 'enerator 'enerator service. In that case& the best thing to do is to 0+121310 the *ame 'enerator service and recreate it based on instructions in the 4ro5ect (anagement ser6s 'uide. %ope this helps7 months ago

Assuming the name generator is up and running& try the following. $. 8einstall the name generator software. . 3ry a di9erent machine with name generator on. +o ensure the name generator component service is started. If there6s a username password issue& it will crop up here. $. If the name gen machine is another subnet& ensure it can be pinged from all client machines. 3ry +3,ping from (icrosoft and see if the +3, handsha)e is without any error. . 1nsure the name resolution of forward and reverse +*S is correct. :rom a client machine& ping the name generator. *ow issue command ping ;a ect the same name generator name. 3his reuires a bit more research especially in case of multiplants as discovered by my dear colleague @evin +monte& (I1 AS3B 4. 1ng. Hhen I go to create a new database& an error window it says the name provided by the generator is wrong appears. 3he same error that the partnerB I then proceeded to reinstall the "name generator" and tells me there is an error with access settings.
