CONTENTS
OBJECTIVES
STRATEGIES
Ignition system- Its purpose is to ignite the compressed air fuel mixture in the engine combustion chambers. This should occur at the proper time for combustion to begin.
To understand Ignition system
Ignition switch- connects or disconnects the flow of electricity to the ignition system.
To Know the ignition switch
Lecture and discussion
Battery- The battery is a rechargeable device that serves as a power supply for the electrical parts when the engine is stopped. When the engine is running, it stores the used electricity. Ammeter- It is used to measure the ampere rate in the system and used to determine if the battery is charging or discharging. Ballast resistor- controls the current flow to the coil during normal operation. The resistor reduces the voltage available to the coil at low at low engine speeds. It increases the voltage at higher rpm when the voltage requirement increases. Ignition coil- Converts 12v battery voltage to thousands of volts enough to give a powerful spark.

TEACHING AIDS & DEVICES
Breaker points/Contact pointsUsed to close or open the primary circuit. As the distributor shaft rotates, it also causes a distributor cam to rotate. The distributor cam causes a small set of points to open and close at each cam lobe position. When the points are closed. The current flow in the primary circuit causes the magnetic field to build up in the coil.

Lecture and discussion
High tension wires- are used to connect the high voltage surge to each spark plug. They are arranged in the firing order of the engine.
To know the function of High tension wires
Lecture and discussion
Question and Answer
Spark plug- provide a predetermined gap within the combustion chamber so that each time a high voltage surge is delivered, a quality spark will occur in the combustion chamber.
To know the purpose and importance of sparkplug

C. Application After the lesson had been discussed, the teacher will choose some students who will go in front and choose their desired part and e xplain its importance and function.
D. Evaluation Identification (5 pts) Directions: Write your answer on the space provided before each number. (1 pt each) ________1. It delivers a powerful spark to ignite the air and fuel mixture. ________2. It converts a 12v battery voltage to thousands of volts. ________3. It stores chemical not electricity. ________4. It cuts and open the flow of current within the system. ________5. It delivers surges of high voltage available in the coil tower. Essay (5 pts) Direction: In 3-5 sentences, answer this.
Explain the function and importance of ignition system.
