How to Install Gamit

About Unix or Linux or Computer world Posted on Hello I will post about my experienced how to install GAMIT on ubuntu. GAMIT is one of GPS scientific software. Why i am usin ubuntu thats because ubuntu is the easiest linux i!"e e"er try. I ha"e tried this on #buntu $%.$%& $$.%'& and $(.%' with GAMIT $%.' and incremental update $()%')%(. GAMIT need fortran and *$$ libraries on compilin plus c shell +csh, for install script. Another optional software but needed for plottin in GAMIT is GMT +Generic Mappin Tool,. You need basic skill to use linux and ubuntu to install this software . Syntax and edit text are in red colour. first thin to do is install prere-uisites software for compilin process. pen terminal and type this on your terminal sudo apt/et update sudo apt/et install csh tcsh fortran libx$$/de" before install GMT install netcdf first. I prefer not usin netcdf from ubuntu repository but compile from raw and prefer usin netcdf "ersion 0. 1ownload copy of netcdf from netcdf homepae. $. unpac2 netcdf tar /x3"f netcdf/0.4.0.tar.3 (. mo"e to folder that 5ust unpac2ed cd netcdf/0.4.0 0. I will install netcdf on )usr)local)netcdf .)confiure 6prefix7)usr)local)netcdf '. compile ma2e 8. install sudo ma2e install 4. edit PATH en"ironment where netcdf installed cd 9 2su edit .bashrc add these line at the end of file export PATH7:PATH;)usr)local)netcdf)bin export <=T>1?HM=7)usr)local)netcdf @. sa"e and -uit . -uit terminal Go to ftp;))ftp.soest.hawaii.edu  usin your browser or ftp proram. 1ownload mt/'.8..tar.b3(& shhs/ (.(.%.tar.b3(& and installBmt.sh.
