Step 1 : Calculate the wind pressures for each level of the structure per 207.5.3: for H < 4.5m for H = 6m Numerical Coefficient = 4.73E-05 4.73E-05 Kz = 0.85 0.90 Kzt = 1.00 1.00 Kd = 0.85 0.85 Iw = 1.15 1.15 V = 250.00 kp kph 250.00 kp kph qz = 2.46 kP kPa 2.60 kP kPa
4.25 3.5 3.5 3.5 14.75
for H = 9m 4.73E-05 0.98 1.00 0.85 1.15 250.00 kp kph 2.83 kP kPa
interpolate the value of Kz of Kz for H = 14.75m: let x = value of Kz of Kz for h=14.75m From Table 207‐4 p 2‐25: Kz 1.04 x 1.09 by r&p: 0.05

Step 2 :
Click the 'Load Page' icon in the STAAD toolbar; the load page opens
Step 3 :
Click the Define Load; then select Wind
Step 4:
Select 'Custom'
Step 5:
Enter the following as calculated above in the form that appears: Int (kN/m2) 0 2.46 2.60 2.83 3.01 3.14
Height (m) 0 4.5 6 9 12 14.75
Step 6:
Click 'Add'
Step 7:
Enter exposure factor :
Step 8:
Select all the nodes of the building that will be exposed to the wind (select all if open structure)
Step 9:
Assign the newly created custom wind definition to the selected nodes
Step 10:
Create a new wind load case along the x‐axis using the wind load definition; enter the pertinent dimensions of the building along the x‐axis as required
Step 11:
Create a new wind load case along the z‐axis using the wind load definition; enter the pertinent dimensions of the building along the z‐axis as required
1
When you have finished loading all the primary loads and load combinations, run analysis and the program will auto‐apply the wind loads defined per the NSCP2010.
