Foreword This Standard describes the documentation of VeDoc information on a drawing. The VeDoc relevance of a component part is indicated by the assignment of the VeDoc identifier in the Daimler PDM systems. This edition supersedes the previous edition of this Standard dated 2012-12.

Scope

This Standard describes the documentation of VeDoc information on CAD drawings generated from CAD systems and 3D-CAD models according to the 3D Master method in the technical product documentation documentation for the Mercedes-Benz Cars and Mercedes-Benz Vans business units, as well as 2D drawings from other systems.

Terms and definitions

The definitions given in DIN EN ISO 10209 shall apply along with the following: 3D Master

3D Master is the method whereby the 3D data record contains all process-relevant information.

"kZ-see" component component parts

"kZ-siehe", "kZs" parts = "no drawing, see" parts. These parts do not have their own drawing, but are instead represented by a 2D CAD model under "see item no." (e.g. assembly drawing, tabular drawing).

VeDoc

VPD ident no.

A VPD ident is a unique identification number for a variable product datum: It is applicable across all model series and is used to assign VeDoc data to a specific vehicle.

Drawing item number

The item number under which the drawing is archived (may simultaneously simultaneously serve as a component component part item number).

General requirements

For safety requirements, homologation (in particular, exhaust emissions), and quality, the existing statutory requirements and laws shall be complied with. In addition, the relevant requirements of the Daimler Group apply. All materials, procedures, processes, components, components, and systems shall conform to the current statutory requirements regarding regulated substances and recyclability.

Identification of component parts with VeDoc relevance

5.1

General

Those component parts specified as VeDoc-relevant in consultation with the staff responsible for the parts shall be identified as such. This VeDoc identification of component parts is done in the PDM systems (e.g. Smaragd and other systems in the downstream units). If a VeDoc-relevant component part needs to be identified by means of a machine-readable part identification (e.g. a barcode), the following information shall be documented on the drawing: Position of the data carrier (VeDoc label) on the component part Barcode type Note: The following techniques are used for automatic identification and data capture: o Technique as per ISO/IEC 15417 for specifying specifyi ng the barcode o Technique as per ISO/IEC 16022 for specifying specifyi ng the data matrix • •

The machine-readable data shall additionally be documented on the VeDoc label in plain text. Note: The data user is After Sales. As soon as a VeDoc VeDoc label and and its contents on a drawing (compone (component, nt, assembly specification, specification, etc.), are added, removed or changed, all of the item numbers relevant for representing the part shall be released with a ZGS increase (e.g. single part shown with own item number in an assembly drawing, single part item number). Data fields required for the identification and documentation VeDoc information are shown in Fig. 1.

Identification of VeDoc relevance Together with the identifier "X", the identifier "999" indicates that the component part is a VeDoc-relevant control unit or control unit peripheral whose VeDoc data is transferred via the diagnostic interface. The matching of the VPD ident to the item number takes place in the PDM system. Together with the identifier "X", the identifier "888" indicates that a VeDoc label is documented on the drawing for the assembly part. The matching of the VPD ident to the item number takes place in the PDM system. If VeDoc labels documented on a drawing do not belong to the drawing item number, the identifier 900 is used (e.g. tabular drawing, assembly specification VeDoc label, etc.).

Arrow for VeDoc label

Table: "Component-part "Component-part specific supplier number"

The supplier number issued by Purchasing and the component-part specific supplier number are matched to explanations and additional information provided by the component manager. For example, details can be provided about the production structures used by the particular supplier. The table "Component-part specific supplier number" can be used for the documentation on the drawing (see Table 4). If a tabular or assembly drawing illustrates "kZ-see" component component parts, the VeDoc labels of these component parts shall be documented on the tabular or assembly drawing. The position of the VeDoc label and the data content are documented. The component part item number is identified in the item number table (see Table 7). To do so, an additional column needs to be added to the item number table (see Table 6).

Drawing documentation method

6.1

General

The following shall be observed for VeDoc control units or control unit peripherals: For component component parts whose whose VPD information can be be retrieved retrieved via the vehicle vehicle diagnostic diagnostic system, identification of these parts is done solely in the PDM system.
