Description of the machine Standard References Instrument allows to measure the thickness of various materials realized in different forms as sheets, films, etc and many materials as paper, paperboard, fabrics, etc.

Functioning RING LAB is addressed to: spinning tests on cotton, wool, artificial and sintetic fibres and their blends. It’s mainly employed: • To determine the best spinning conditions to test the materials. • To study the ring – traveller behaviour. • To test and choice the best coats, top and bottom aprons in order to achieve the best spinning conditions on the ring spinning frames.

Foreseen uses Foreseen works: the machine was projected and realized for spinning tests with staple fibers. Foreseen using formalities: the machine was projected and realized to be used in an industrial laboratory, however in closed surroundings or covered from atmospherical agents. Foreseen operating formalities: the machine is feeded with electrical energy which turns into mechanical energy for foreseen uses.

Safety standards To project and realize this machine, has been adopted standards and shrewdness suitable to fulfill the essential safety requirements foreseen by EC - Machine Directives 2006/42/CE and next changes and by applicable Directives. This unit complies with EN 61010-1 Safety Requirements For Electrical Equipment for Measurement, Control and Laboratory Use. The Instrument 3108A RING LAB is according to the international Directive: 2006/42/CE Machine Directives. 2006/95/CE Low Tension Directives. 2004/108/CE Electromagnetic Compatibility Directives. The careful risks analysis made by Manufacturer, allowed to eliminate mostly of risks which were connected with use conditions of the machine, both foreseen and reasonably foreseeable. Documents completed with adopted standards for safety purposes, are contained in the technical booklet of the machine, which is by Manufacturer. Manufacturer recommends to follows with the greatest care all instructions, procedures and recommendations contained in present manual and the laws in force concerning safety in work circle, also for use of foreseen protection devices, both integrated in the machine and individual. This machine is foreseen for industrial surroundings. Installation, ordinary maintenance, extraordinary maintenance, operations must be performed only by skilled technicians.

The machine and its outfit must be protected from external atmospheric agents. In particular, water and humidity can oxidise some components of the machine, causing irreversible damages.

Checking of damages caused during transportation Check the status of the machine through a visual inspection outside and inside the machine. Possible deformations of visible parts, point out impacts caused to the machine during transportation: such impacts could compromise its normal functioning. In particular check the good status of following parts: • Electrical cables. Check the fastening of screws and connections.
In case of damages The damages caused during transportation, must be ascribed to the transporter and they must be immediately pointed out to Manufacturer or his Reseller.

Storing up Indications contained in this section must be observed during temporary storing up periods of the machine, which can happen in the following situations: • Non-immediate installation of the machine, after its supply. • Disinstallation of the machine and its storing up, waiting for another replacing.

Arrangement Physical characteristics of arrangement zone Besides the overall dimensions of the machine, it is necessary to respect following conditions: • In proximity to arrangement zone, all energy alimentation sources must be prepared, according to 3.2 Alimentation data . • Foresee an enough space for normal use as well as the maintenance of the machine, also including space for other peripheral equipments. • The operator must be able to move on without impediments in front of control panel of the machine. The distance from the nearest wall or object, must however be over 0,5 metres. • If machine need to be overlie a support, take care that the surface is strong enough to guaranty safety, prevent oscillatory movement during operations, allows machine fixing, if necessary, to avoid sliding and dropping.

ATTENTION Take care that during the levelling, weight of the unit is distributed equally on same feet, in order to avoid noise and vibrations.

It has been connected with the prescribed electrical tension, it must be the same of the one indicated on the machine plate. Used according to the operating instruction of the present manual.

Pay attention: only a skilled electrician is allows to joint electric cable and plug, according to the local safety laws and directions.

Starting of the machine as test Trial Before proceeding to regular and continuative use of the machine, check the perfect functioning of the same, by carrying out a complete cycle to no purpose, according the procedures indicated in chapter 6 Use . 6.3
USE
Use Mount the slivers on the creel. Take an end of a sliver and insert it in back part of SKF arms for the draft operations. From the front part of draft area take the thinner slivers and guide it through grommets till the ring mounted on the ring rail. Wrap on spool the end of the thin sliver, now machine is ready to start working.

Emergency stop The pressing of the emergency red button, positioned closed to the Start button, causes the immediate stop of the cycle. Every device in functioning is stopped. To restart the machine, the Emergency red button must be manually reactivated. Act as follows: During the machine’s running, the operator must push the button 2 on the electrical control panel Fully automatic if a repair is open (microswitch B) Fully automatic (microswitch A) when the ring rail reaches the up position. See the following sketch:

After an emergency stop, the operator should manually reactive the button and restart the cycle only after fixing the problem(s) and if he is sure that the machine will restart in safe conditions. The machine will stop immediately in case of: • •
Electric mains fault. Fault safety devices or no protective actions.
The operator must be sure about the machine safe conditions before every start or restart.

Replacement of the oil into the variators After first 300 working hours, it must be done the following: a. let the variators run at the minimum speed. b. unscrew the variator plugs and let the oil drain in a tank. c. screw again the variators plugs d. stop the variators running
e. open the upper plug and fill oil till the level which is marked on the oil level gauge fitted on the back of the Ring Lab.

The machine is completely switched off. The power supply to the machine is disconnected. Moveable parts are stopped. Moveable parts are secured and locked, so that they cannot move during maintenance operations.

Residual risks after deactivation If indications pointed out in section 8.1 Deactivation of the machine are carefully carried out, there are no residual risks after deactivation.

DEMOLITION
Information for users 1. Member States shall ensure that users of electrical and electronic equipment in private households are given the necessary information about: (a) the requirement not to dispose of WEEE as unsorted municipal waste and to collect such WEEE separately; (b) the return and collection systems available to them; (c) their role in contributing to reuse, recycling and other forms of recovery of WEEE; (d) the potential effects on the environment and human health as a result of the presence of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipm ent; (e) the meaning of the symbol shown in Annex IV. 2. Member States shall adopt appropriate measures so that consumers participate in the collection of WEEE and to encourage them to facilitate the process of reuse, treatment and recovery. 3. With a view to minimising the disposal of WEEE as unsorted municipal waste and to facilitating its separate collection, Member States shall ensure that producers appropriately mark electrical and electronic equipment put on the market after 13 August 2005 with the symbol shown in Annex IV. In exceptional cases, where this is necessary because of the size or the function of the product, the symbol shall be printed on the packaging, on the instructions for use and on the warranty of the electrical and electronic equipment. 4. Member States may require that some or all of the information referred to in paragraphs 1 to 3 shall be provided by producers and/or distributors, e.g. in the instructions for use or at the point of sale.
