THE PROVEN FACTS
For years you’ve been running a stock crank and have never experienced rod bearing ailure. You You decide to “step-up” and replace your stock crank with an atermarket brand. Immediately you encounter bearing scu or total bearing ailure. This scenario happens oten, much to the dismay o the engine builder.
It has been proven time and time again, “the lighter the parts, the quicker qu icker the throttle thrott le response.” response.” This is no more evident than in the components that make up the bottom end o an engine. Reducing a crankshats counterweight mass is critical in getting quicker acceleration and deceleration. It also alleviates stress and engine wear and improves oil shearing in the pan.
THE PROBLEM
Looking rom the rod, back up through the main, you can see daylight, indicating it’s a genuine Crower crankshat with the “straight-shot” oiling system.
The unique teardrop scoop and exclusive Crower “straight-shot” oiling system increases critical oil fow rom the main bearings to the rod bearings.
On most atermarket brands the rod eed hole is only drilled to the centerline o the main. This method o drilling doesn’t deliver enough oil to the rod . Creating a high centriuge, high pressure zone at the main, restricting critical oil fow intended or your rods. As engine rpm increases this centriuge eect gets worse, possibly resulting in severe crankshat damage or even total engine destruction. Not the perormance characteristics you expected when you switched to an atermarket brand crankshat. THE SOLUTION
Entry holes or the rod eed are located at the O.D. o the main, allowing oil to fow equally and unrestricted to the bearings. This is key to prolonging bearing lie.
STRAIGHT-SHOT STRAIGHT-SHOT OILING
Ater extensive research and design, Crower engineers developed the straight-shot oiling system and virtually eliminates bearing burnout and customer complaints. It eatures two Crower exclusives, exclusives, o-center drilling and the teardrop design oil hole, which scoops oil at the main and orces it into the rod eed hole. Although it’s time consuming, we eel it’s worth it.

Smaller O.D. design places heaviest mass closer to the center o the crankshat or the quickest engine acceleration possible. Crower’s “counterweight correct” design produces optimum counterweight positioning or the best possible bearing loading and proper balancing. The shorter, narrower counterweight reduces total overall mass and has less rontal area.
The “Klose’s Stress Concentration Reduction” distributes stress evenly over the entire overlap area.
Crower’s exclusive lightweight crank pin web area allows the counterweights to be pendulum undercut to reduce weight without the need or heavy metal balancing on most applications.

REVOLUTIONARY DESIGN
The Crower Maxi-Light crankshat redenes the term “light rotating mass” by attaining just the right ratio o a smaller O.D. counterweight with an exclusive lightweight crank pin web area. By lightening the crank pin web area we are able to machine excess material rom the center o the counterweights without adversely eecting balancing. This is Crower’s patented pendulum undercutting. Lighter than any other crankshat like it on the market, the Maxi-Light is structurally just as strong and easy to balance. Although competing manuacturer’s claim to have comparable designs similar to the Crower Maxi-Light, consider the act that it takes much more than just scalloping out the center o the counterweight to achieve the correct combination o light rotating mass and proper balance. Crower pioneered pendulum undercutting the counterweights back in 1989.

Rod & Main Bearings MAIN BEARINGS ROD BEARINGS
Crower high perormance rod bearings are quality engine bearings designed to withstand the extreme loads o proessionally tuned racing engines. Features high strength trimetal copper-lead material in the load area or superior strength and embedding. Lead overplate provides excellent atigue strength and superior conormability to compensate or distortion and/ or misalignment. Superlative bearing-to-bearing size consistency enables you to “build-in” the exact oil clearance you require, while narrowed and chamered versions are available or large llet journals where additional clearance is necessary.
