Mechanical Double Grip Packer
Description:
Tubing may be left in tension, compression, or neutral. Holds pressure from above and below.
Applications:
Mechanically set using combinations of rotation and tension or compression.
VALVE
Production, testing, treating, and service work.
PACKING ELEMENT
Limitations:
May be difficult to operate in deep or deviated conditions. Avoid exceeding safe tension rating.

SLIP
Hydraulic Set Packer
Description:
SLIP
Tubing pressure set, shear release. Mechanically held, holds pressure from above and below. Some have counterbalance valve system.
Applications:
VALVE
Deviated wellbores. Below hydraulic set dual packers. Stacked single string completions.
PACKING ELEMENT SETTING PORT HYDRAULIC SETTING CYLINDER
SLIDING SLEEVE
Limitations:
Consider load on release pins under all expected operating conditions. With counterbalanced packers, consider temperature effect and compensate with slack-off weight.
