Chapter II Methodology The purpose of this study is to ascertain the types of music that can cause enhancement towards the comprehension level of the different high school levels while studying. The four purposes of this chapter are to describe the research design or research methodology of this study, explain the sample selection, describe the research procedure used in designing the instrument and collecting the data, and provide an explanation of the statistical procedures used to analyze the data.
I.
Research Design/ Research Methodology
A descriptive research methodology was used for this stud y. A survey was administered to a selected sample from a specific population identified by the researchers. The term ‘survey’ is commonly applied to a research methodo logy that is designed to collect data from a specific popul ation, or a sample from that population, and typically utilizes a questionnaire or an interview as the survey instrument (Robson, 1993). Surveys are used to obtain data from individuals about themselves, their households, or about larger social institutions (school boards). Sample surveys are a important tool for collecting and analyzing information from selected indiv idual. To arrive at the given result, the researchers chose and utilize a descriptive research methodology and designed a questionnaire surve y instrument to assess the different high school student levels in accordance to their enhancement of their comprehension levels with the types of music as their tool. Variables were also identified in this study and these are th e independent variable which is the types of music and comprehension levels of the high school students being the dependent variable.

In this study, four clusters of Ozamiz City National High School were identified by the researchers to serve as the samples of the study with with the use of the random sampling, specifically, the cluster random sampling.
The respondents comprises of the high school students in their different year st th levels at Ozamiz City National High School varying from 1 year to 4 year where four researchers are the subject of the study and th e respondents, being randomly selected, were used as the samples of the study. Specifically, 15 students in every year level were chosen to be the samples of the study.
B. Questionn air es In this study, the questionnaire is use as a tool to assess the participants what significant type of music they listen to for their enhancement o f their comprehension levels while studying, the music- changing pattern they used to in listening and even the pitch of music. Open-ended question was also involved in questioning out the respondents what types of music they listen to while studying and how did it affect their comprehension levels.

Research Procedure
A. Data Coll ection The researchers personally distributed the questionnaires and instructed the respondents on how they are going to answer the questionnaire. Participants are going to answer it completely and they don’t have to worry about the questions since it is valid and reliable in answering. And for this reason, the researcher was meticulous to avoid constructing a complex and lengthy questionnaire so that confusions and flummoxing of the students will also be avoided.

After the researcher’s accomplishment with the data collection, the researchers then proceed to analyzing and interpreting the data with the use of one -way factorial ANOVA. The Analysis of Variance is a collection of statistical models used to analyze the differences between group means and their associated procedures. It provides a statistical test of whether or not the means of several groups are equal. And it is useful in comparing (testing) three or more means (groups or va riables) for statistical significance. Frequency tables and descriptive statistics were constructed to display results with respect to each of the three research questions.
