Chapter 3 Precautions
Precautions Before you perform any service and/or repair on notebook, please follow the steps below first. 1.Be sure that the notebook is powered down. 2.Disconnect the AC plug from the notebook
Precautions 3.Turn the notebook over. Unlock and hold the latches, and remove the battery.
Precautions 4.Remove all rings, watches and any other metal objects from your hands.

Appropriate Tools
Appropriate Tools The illustrations below show the appropriate tools that should be used for the notebook’s service and repair.
Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to fasten/remove the K- or B-typed screws.
Use a single-slotted screwdriver to lock/unlock the flexible cable connector locks
Appropriate Tools Use a pair of tweezers to remove/insert flexible cables.
Use insertion and extraction tool for FPC connector to handle locking and unlocking of FPC connectors.
Chapter 5
Disassembly Procedure
Disassembly Procedure Please follow the information provided in this section to perform the complete disassembly procedure of the notebook. Be sure to use proper tools described before. ASUS Notebook consists of various modules. This chapter describes the procedures for the complete notebook disassembly. In addition, in between procedures, the detailed disassembly procedure of individual modules will be provided for your service needs.
The disassembly procedure consists of the following steps: Battery
Module Memory Module HDD Module Keyboard Module ODD Module CPU Module WLAN Module & TV Tuner Motherboard Module Top Case Module
Disassembly Battery Module 1. Remove 4 rubber feet on the bottom case and remove 4 screws under the rubber feet.
Disassembly 2. Push the bottom case and take away the bottom case.
Disassembly 3. Remove 3 screws on the battery and take away the battery.
Disassembly Memory Module 1. Pull two latches here to pop the Memory module up at 45 degrees angles, and then pull out the module at that angle.
Disassembly HDD Module 1. Remove 4 screws on each HDD. Lift it up the HDD and take them away.
Disassembly Disassemble the HDD module 2. Remove 4 screws to separate HDD from HDD housing.
Disassembly Keyboard Module 1. Remove 10 screws on the bottom case frame which securing the KB. Turn off the device and pry the hinge cover to remove it.
Disassembly 2. Turn off the device and pry the hinge cover to remove it.
Disassembly 3. Remove the four screws on the keyboard and take over the keyboard plate.
Disassembly 4. Disconnect the keyboard FPC, LED FPC, Touchpad FPC and remove the keyboard plate.
Disassembly Disassemble the keyboard module 1. Remove 4 screws on both touchpad. Then release the touchpad FPC and turn over the keyboard plate to take away the both touchpad.
Disassembly ODD Module 1. Remove 17 screws on the bottom case frame. Disconnect the WLAN antenna from the guide hook.

Disassembly 2. Disconnect the WLAN antenna from the guide hook. Then take away the frame case.
Disassembly 3. Remove 2 screws on the ODD and remove ODD.
Disassembly CPU Module 1. Remove 8 screws on a CPU module and disconnect the fan cable. Then take the thermal module away.
Disassembly 2. Using the flat head screw driver to release the CPU socket and then remove CPU by vacuum handling tool.
Disassembly WLAN and TV Tuner Module 1. Remove 2 screws on the WLAN and pull out the WLAN from its slot.
Disassembly WLAN and TV Tuner Module 2. Disconnect the antenna from the TV Tuner card. Remove 2 screws and pull out the card.
Disassembly MB Module 1. Disconnect the following cables: LVDS cable, MIC cable, Card Reader Board cable.

Disassembly 1. Disconnect the following cables: LVDS cable, MIC cable, Card Reader Board cable.
Disassembly 2. Take away the MB module from the top case.
Disassembly 3. Remove 4 screws on below card reader and the converter board. Take both of them away.
Disassembly 4. Separate Card reader board and the converter board.
Disassembly Top Case Module 1. Turn the Top Case and LCD module as 45 angles.
Disassembly 2. Remove 2 screws on each LCD hinge.
Disassembly 3. Release LVDS cable and the antenna from the guide hooks. Then wake away the top case.
Disassembly 4. Remove the Bluetooth module and LED board from the top case.

Assembly Procedure
Assembly Procedure Please follow the information provided in this section to perform the complete assembly procedure of the notebook. Be sure to use proper tools described before. After you have completed the previous chapter of complete disassembly, please follow this chapter to assemble the notebook back together. This chapter describes the procedures of the complete notebook assembly. In addition, in between procedures, the detailed assembly procedure of individual modules will be provided for your service needs.
The assembly procedure consists of the following steps: Top
Case Module Motherboard Module Wireless LAN & TV Tuner Module CPU Module ODD Module Keyboard Module HDD Module Memory Module Battery Module
Assembly Top Case Module 1. Assemble the LED board and Bluetooth board to the correct location.
Assembly 2. Install the Top case with LCD module. Arrange LVDS cable and antenna in the guide hooks/
Assembly 3. Then secure 2 screws on each LCD hinge.
Assembly MB Module 1. Assemble the card reader board and the converter card.
Assembly 2. Install the card reader board in the top case and secure 4 screws on them.
Assembly 3. Assemble the Motherboard to the correct location.
Assembly 4. Connect the following cables: LVDS cable, MIC cable, Card Reader board cable. And then secure three screws on bottom case.

Assembly 4. Connect the following cables: LVDS cable, MIC cable, Card Reader board cable. And then secure three screws on bottom case.
Assembly WLAN & TV Tuner Module 1. Insert the TV Tuner in the motherboard and secure 2 screws on the TV Tuner. Then connect the antenna.
Assembly 2. Insert WLAN card in the motherboard and secure 2 screws on it.
Assembly CPU Module 1. Insert CPU in the CPU socket and secure the CPU.
Assembly 2. Assemble the thermal module on the motherboard and secure 8 screws to fix it. Then connect the fan cable.
Assembly ODD Module 1. Assemble the ODD and secure 2 screws.
Assembly 2. Assemble the bottom frame and secure 17 screws on the frame. Then arrange the WLAN antenna and connect the Bluetooth cable and CMOS cable.
Assembly 3. connect the WLAN card.
CMOS and Bluetooth cable.
Assembly Keyboard Module 1. Assemble the both touchpad with the keyboard plate. Then paste to fix the touchpad FPC.
Assembly 2. Turn over the keyboard plate and secure 8 screws.
Assembly 3. Assemble the keyboard on the back of top case. Connect the Touchpad FPC and keyboard FPC.
Assembly 4. Turn over the keyboard plate and install the keyboard. Secure 4 screws on the keyboard.
Assembly 5. Install the hinge cover and turn over the device. Secure 10 screws on the bottom case frame to fix the keyboard.
Assembly HDD Module 1. Assemble the HDD and secure 4 screws.
Assembly 2. Install the 2 HDD modules and fix 4 screws on each of them.
Assembly Memory Module 1. Insert memory at the same 45 angles and press down until it clicks into the latches.
Assembly Battery Module 1. Assemble the battery and press it down. Secure 3 screws on the battery.
