Introduction
Although for the most part altogether unconscious of it, man glides by the whole
of his life in the thick of a vast and populous unobserved world. During sleep or in trance, if the insistent physical senses are for the time in abeyance, this other world is to some extent opened to him, and he will occasionally bring back from those circumstances more or less faint memories of what he has encountered and heard there. The beginning point which it is essential to make clear in describing this astral
plane is its downright reality. I am utilizing the word in its plain, day-to-day sense, and I mean by it that the objects and inhabitants of the astral plane are genuine in precisely the same way as our own bodies, our pieces of furniture, our homes are real. They'll no more endure for ever than will objects on the physical plane, but they're nevertheless realities from our viewpoint while they last— last—realities which we can't afford to ignore simply because the majority of humanity is as yet unconscious, of their existence. The names commonly dedicated to these planes, taking them in order of materiality, rising from the heavier to the finer, are the physical, the astral, the mental or devachanic, the buddhic, and the nirvanic.
Greater than this last are 2 others, but they are so far above our present power
of concept that for the moment they might be left out of consideration. It ought to be understood that the matter of each of these planes differs from that of the one below it in the same way as, though to a much higher degree than, vapor differs from solid matter. The astral region which I'm to try to describe is the second of these planes of
nature—the next above (or inside) that physical world with which we're all nature— familiar. It has frequently been called the realm of illusion —not that it's itself any more elusive than the physical world, but, as of the extreme unreliableness of the impressions returned from it by the untrained seer. This is to be accounted for chiefly by two remarkable features of the astral world— world—first, that a lot of its inhabitants have a fantastic power of changing their forms, and also of casting practically inexhaustible glamour over those with whom they choose to sport; and second, that sight on that plane is a faculty really dissimilar from and much more extended than physical vision. An object is viewed, as it were, from all sides at one time, the interior of a solid
being as plainly open to the view as the exterior; it's therefore obvious that an ignorant visitor to this new world might find considerable trouble in understanding what he truly does see, and still more in transforming his vision into the very inadequate language of ordinary speech. He has to learn not only to seeproperly but to transform the memory of what he
has seen precisely from one plane to the other; and to assist him in this he's trained to carry his consciousness without break from the physical plane to the astral or devachanic and back once more, for till that may be done there's always a possibility that his recollections might be partially lost or distorted during the blank time interval which separates his periods of awareness on the assorted planes. The first introduction to this noteworthy region comes to individuals in assorted
ways. A few only once in their whole lives under some strange influence become sensitive enough to recognize the presence of one of its inhabitants, and maybe, because the experience doesn't repeat itself, they
2
might come in time to trust that on that occasion they must have been thevictims of hallucination: other people find themselves with increasing frequency seeing and hearing something to which those around them are blind and deaf; other people again — and maybe this is the commonest experience of all— all —start to recollect with greater and greater clarity that which they've seen or heard on that other plane during sleep. What Is The Astral?
The astral world or plane covers a wide range of reality. In its highest reaches it gives form to what is spiritual and helps make a thought thinkable. At its lower levels it is so close to the physical universe that tha t a dividing line cannot easily be maintained. It includes our astral bodies, the soul-stuff of the individual psyche. Etheric sight in ordinary consciousness The lower levels of the astral world are sometimes termed "etheric." "etheric." Many people, without leaving their physical body at all, can make use of "etheric sight" - the power to see the colors, forms, and living l iving beings of at least the lower low er astral levels. With practice, you can almost certainly cultivate this power of seeing. It is a knack. It has nothing whatever to do with the sharpness or other aspects of your physical phys ical eyesight. It has nothing to do with virtue, either. Sometimes people who declare they can see non-material beings are treated as if they were claiming to be holy, or somehow spiritually gifted. In fact the only virtues needed for etheric sight are attentiveness and open-mindedness. Certainly the level l evel of one's awareness of the astral is governed by one's state of inner readiness; but that too can be developed, and aspiration generally grows in proportion to the knowledge of something to aspire to.
3
When you are out of your body you will, of course, see, hear, and be generally aware of what is around you. Every manifestation of being is real and palpable at its own level. If you travel astrally at the level of the material world you will see it as it is at that time - if that is what you wish - although you are likely to perceive more of its past, and perhaps of its future, than earthly traveling would show you. As an astral being you will be able to pass directly through a solid earthly wall or closed door with no trouble, no matter how solid or closed it may look. At some time when you are out of the body, however, however, you may well encounter encounter some high astral boundary boundary that is not for you to pass as yet - for it, being astral, too, and of a higher astral potency, is solid and effective at astral level. At the same time, your consciousness does not go out alone and naked into the astral world. It needs - you need - a certain amount of astral substance to gather impressions and information for it. Astral substance performs this function very well, as it habitually h abitually mediates between the physical nervous systems and the psyche. Inevitably, too, this astral substance that fares forth with your consciousness, consciousness, since it comes from the instinctual and emotional region of your psyche, will carry some of your customary feelings feelings and reactions; all of which helps to make you feel feel complete and thoroughly yourself in your travels. The probability is that when you first begin to project your consciousness from your physical body, you'll take considerably more astral substance with you than you need. With more practice you'll begin to travel light. The soul-stuff is remarkably elastic and expansive, and a small portion of it is enough to give an experienced astral traveler the feeling, and far more than tha n the faculties, of the earthly body. All experiences are enhanced, not only because they are liberated from the possibly dulling effects of earthly sense organs, but also because your perceptions are not limited to definite sense organs at all. If you hear astral music for instance - and there is incredibly enchanting astral music to be heard - you w ill not simply receive it with perfect astral ears. You may concentrate upon hearing it with your ears because that's the way you are accustomed to hearing things, but in reality you will be hearing it with all the substance of your astral vehicle.

Fact vs Fiction
Out-of-the-body experience has of late years acquired a fair amount a mount of recognition in the media, and various excellent studies and "How To" books exist for the student's attention. Indeed, so many people are hearing of astral projectio p rojection, n, learning about it, practicing it these days, that to others it may seem either a modern myth - something they are uncertain whether to believe or not - or a great recent discovery. To a great number of people, however, the widespread acceptance of the reality of the experience must come as a happy reassurance, confirming the actuality of astral episodes and insights that have taken place in their own lives. And because the subject has been opened up as a legitimate - and wonderfully exciting - topic for thought and discussion, it's noticeable how many people will tell in conversation of out-of-the body recollections they dared not previously expect others to believe, perhaps dared not even fully accept themselves. But a new discovery it is not. In every human culture, among those with the inner certainty or the warrant of authority to speak for themselves, the out-of-the-body experience has been known and avowed in all regions of the world and through the centuries, in countless variations. Shamans, witch-doctors, ascetics, and mystics in every human culture in Asia and Africa, and across the globe from New Zealand and Australia through the Americas, have always declared and demonstrated their ability to t o leave the physical body at will, so as to oversee or perform certain actions, or to receive further powers from spiritual levels. In a famous passage in the second letter to the Corinthians (2 Corinthians, XII, 14), the Apostle Paul says: (1) Doubtless it is not fitting for me to glory. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord. (2) More than fourteen years ago I knew a man in Christ - whether in the body or out of the body I cannot tell, God knows - who was w as taken up to the Third Heaven. (3) I knew such a man - whether w hether in the body or out of it I cannot tell, God knows (4) who was caught up into Paradise and heard unspeakable words, not appropriate for anyone to utter.
5
To look into ancient records - including biblical records - for hints of projection of consciousness can be fascinating but is not very conclusive. Ancient writings, or records made later from word-of-mouth traditions, were in the first place made for people who already knew the story or at least the mode of thought involved. And ancient languages - as many languages even today - had only a comparatively simple stock of words. So you need to know what is likely to be meant literally and what is likely to be a figure of speech or perhaps, in some cases, a taking for granted of something we moderns, with cautious accuracy, would want expressed in detail. But it seems certain here that Paul (who is certainly speaking of himself) is relating an experience either of separation of body and soul, or of mystical my stical ekstasis in which his consciousness consciousn ess was wa s literally lifted beyond the confines of his hi s rational perception. The astral body in historical record It is frequently considered that the concept of "the astral body" is of oriental origin, but speculation concerning the astral body and its powers has a long history in western thought and reaches back into classical Greece, to the writings of Plato and Aristotle. Plotinus, Porphyry, Iamblichus, Proclus, and others great thinkers of the Neo-Platonic tradition, have all added in their turn to the measure of our understanding of the phenomenon. Macrobius, in the late fourth century A.D., speaks of the "putting on of the luminous body" in his commentary on the Dream of Scipio; and Boethius (480 - 524) writes of the "rising chariot" in his Consolation of Philosophy. Consideration of the subject pervades the thought of medieval Europe; and the Hermetic societies of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, aligning their studies with those of the Qabalistic tradition, brought other vital aspects of the tradition of the body of light into the scheme. In the seventeenth century of ourera the scholar Ralph Cudworth included a study of it in his hi s Intellectual System. In the nineteenth and a nd twentieth centuries the work of western occultists, and of occult societies, added greatly by way of technique and understanding to the depth and range of the study. So we need not look to an oriental source for the body of light and a nd its powers - the great Hindu treatises on the subtle body, for example, representing a parallel research and garnering of knowledge concerning the human psyche - although it should be noted that quite early in its development the doctrine, as set forth by the neo-Platonists, was influenced by the astral mysticism of Babylonia. William Blake (1757 - 1827) 1 827) mentions in his Songs of Innocence a going out through "the door in the crown of the head." That is truly one of the regions regions of the body at which astral substance can be sent out to build up a vehicle, and the consciousness as a result can ca n go forth at that point; but it is not one of the easiest regions to use,
6
and people on record as using it for astral perception or travel are, on the whole, people of advanced spiritual development. Walt Whitman (1819-1892) in his poem The Sleepers gives a whole recognizable account of an out-of-the-body experience, although, not surprisingly, with no concern as to the details of achieving that state. It could just be a work of imagination; but to the reader experienced in astral travel or in accounts of astral travel, The Sleepers Sleepers has rather too many convincing convincing touches for fantasy. Benson's Necromancers There would be no excuse for introducing this outworn topic here, except if you collect books on astral projection you may chance to find it in some older ones. The idea is, if you get out of your body, when you want to return you'll encounter some monstrous image, phantom, or feeling of horror which will try to keep you out. First published in 1897, Dracula, Bram Stoker's classic of occult fiction, was written with no purpose but to grip and thrill the reader and, in fact to meet a challenge as to Stoker's ability to write a novel about vampires. It contains, however, the fruits of extensive research; and although at some points both history and tradition have naturally been bent to the purposes of the storyteller's art, yet much material incidentally introduced is plainly based on real life facts. That is, recognizably, the well-observed w ell-observed experience experience of someone whose consciousness has temporarily separated from the physical body through a special occurrence. Mina panicked, and with some effort shook Lucy's body back into wakefulness; Lucy describes her consciousness being violently brought back, and how, in the instant before re-entering the body, she astrally observed the action of her friend. Next moment, the shaking is felt "from within" as a normally awakenin awa keningg person would feel it. As fiction, Bram Stoker's masterpiece became at once and lastingly popular. Had he published his factual researches - even the mildest of them - as truth, however, he might have found himself disastrously ahead of what the public at large would have been willing to see in print. That is a thinkable theory, although present-day science has, perhaps fortunately, not progressed so far. The main difficulty is that t hat the ordinary human consciousness, if it is in fact to be conscious, does need a vehicle of some kind through which to be
7
aware of its surroundings; and the level of the psyche that th at can cause the formation of such a vehicle is controlled, not through the cerebro-spinal system but through the autonomic ones. Given its use in relation to the heart and a nd solar plexus instead of the brain, therefore, to bring in crystal power as an aid to stimulate the energies energies for astral projection is an altogether valid device. Most people are innately attracted by the light that is mysteriously gathered and given forth by crystals and gemstones, and the potent energies that accompany such radiation have become again, as in ancient times, a subject of deep study.
What You See
If we speak of a man as rising from one plane or sub plane to a different, we don't
think of him as necessarily moving in space at all,but all ,but instead as transferring his consciousness from one level to another— another—bit by bit becoming unresponsive to the vibrations of one order of matter, and beginning instead to answer to those of a higher and a nd more refined order; so that one world with its scenery and inhabitants would appear to fade slowly out of his view, while a different world of a more elevated character would get through. We must mention first that every material object, every particle even, has its astral twin; and this counterpart is itself not a simple body, but is commonly exceedingly complex, being composed of assorted kinds of astral matter. Also each living creature is surrounded with an atmosphere of its own, commonly
called its aura, and in the case of humans this aura forms of itself a really fascinating branch of study. It's seen as an oval mass of luminous mist of extremely complex structure, and from its shape has occasionally been called the auric egg.
8
The universal life-fluid as it is absorbed and specialized, as it circulates in rosy
light throughout the body, as it eventually radiates from the healthy individual in its altered form, is also perfectly obvious. Most bright and most easily seen of all, maybe, though belonging to a more polished
order of matter— matter—the astral— astral—is that aura which expresses by its bright and ever-changing flashes of color the different wants which sweep across the man's mind from moment to moment. This is the true astral body. But to see these, the student must, naturally, have
developed the vision to do so. One additional point deserves mention in connection with the appearance of physical matter if viewed from the astral plane, and that's that the higher vision when amply developed possesses the power of magnifying at will the minutest physical particle to any wanted size, as if by a microscope, though its magnifying power is hugely greater than that of any microscope ever made or ever likely to be made. It will by this time be obvious that although the average objects of the physical world form the background to life l ife on particular levels of the astral plane, yet so much m uch more is seen of their true appearance and features that the general effect differs widely from that with which we're familiar. For the interest of illustration take a rock as as an illustration of the simpler class of objects. If regarded with trained sight it's no mere inert mass of stone. Firstly, the whole of the physical matter of the rock is seen rather than a really, reall y, small part of it; second, the vibrations of its physical particles are detectable; third, it's seen to possess an astral twin composed of assorted grades of astral matter, whose particles are likewise in constant motion; fourth, the universal life is seen to be circling through it and radiating from it; fifth, an aura will be seen encircling it, though this is naturally much less extended and altered than in the case of the higher realms; sixth, it’s appropriate elemental essence is seen penetrating it, ever active but ever vacillating. In the case of the vegetable, animal, and human realms, the complications are naturally much more numerous.
9
An account of the scenery of the astral plane would be incomplete without a little mention of what have frequently, though erroneously, been called the Records of the Astral Light. These records (which are really a sort of materialization of the Divine memory— memory —a living photographic representation of all that has ever occurred) are truly and permanently impressed upon a very much higher level, and are only reflected in a more or less spastic manner on the astral plane, so that one whose power of vision doesn't rise above this will be likely to get only occasional and disconnected pictures of the past rather than a coherent c oherent narrative. However nevertheless these reflected pictures of all sorts of past events are
constantly being reproduced in the astral world, and form a crucial part of the surroundings.
Who Is There
Having sketched in, however slimly, the background of our picture, we have to now
attempt to complete the figures—to describe the dwellers of the astral plane. The immense assortment of these beings makes it extremely hard to arrange and tabulate them. Maybe the most convenient technique will be to divide them into 3 great classes, the human, the non-human, and the artificial. More details about this can be found in the Astral Plane ebook which can be found here while the audiobook version can be found here. Dwellers The human dwellers of the astral plane fall by nature into 2 groups, the living and
the dead, or, to speak more precisely, those who have yet a physical body, and those who haven't. The men who demonstrate themselves on the astral plane during physical life
might be subdivided into classes: cl asses:— —
10
1. The Adept and his students. Those belonging to this class commonly employ as
a vehicle not the astral body at all, but the mind-body, which is compiled of the matter of the 4 lower or rupa levels of the plane next above. The advantage of this vehicle is that it allows allow s instant passage from the mental plane to the astral and back, and allows of the utilization at all times of the greater power and keener sense of its own plane. The mind-body isn't naturally visible to astral sight at all, and therefore the
student who works in it learns to assemble round himself a temporary veil of astral matter ma tter if in the course of o f his work he wishes to become perceptible to the dwellers of the lower plane in order to help them more expeditiously. This temporary body is commonly co mmonly formed for the student by hisMaster on the first occasion and he is then instructed and aided till he can form it for himself easily and expeditiously. 2. The Psychically-developed individual who is not under the guidance of a
Master. Such an individual might or might not be spiritually developed, for the 2 forms of advancement don't necessarily go together. If a man is born with psychic powers it's simply the result resul t of efforts made during a former incarnation, which might have been of the noblest and most unselfish character, or on the other hand might have been ignorant and ill-directed or even totally unworthy. Such a person will w ill commonly be perfectly conscious when out of the body, but for want of proper training is apt to be greatlydeceived as to what he sees. 3. The
Ordinary
individual—that
is,
the
individual without any psychic
development— development—who floats about in his astral body during sleep in a more or less unconscious condition. In deep sleep the higher precepts in their astral vehicle almost invariably withdraw from the body, and hover in its immediate locality, though in rather undeveloped individuals they're practically almost as much asleep as the body is. Astral bodies are almost shapeless and really indefinite in outline in the ease of
the more backward races and individuals, but as the man acquires intellect and spirituality his floating astral becomes better defined, and more closely resembles his physical encasement. When during sleep the astral
11
body is withdrawn from the physical and anybody looking at such an astral body with clairvoyant vision would still see a form resembling the physical body encircled by an aura. DEAD
To begin with, naturally this very word "dead" is all absurd misnomer, as most of
the entities classified beneath this heading are as amply alive as we are ourselves— ourselves—frequently distinctly more so; so the term must be understood merely as meaning those who are for the time unattached to a physical body. They might be subdivided into 9 principal p rincipal classes, as follows: 1. The Nirmanakaya . He would likely produce a temporary astral body for the
purpose from the atomic matter of the plane, simply because his more refined vesture would be invisible to astral sight. 2. The Pupil awaiting reincarnation. It's frequently been stated that when the
pupil reaches a particular stage he is able with the assistance of his Master to escape from the action of what is in ordinary cases the law of nature which conveys a human being into the heaven-world after death, there to get the due result of the full working out of all the spiritual forces which his highest aspirations have launched while on earth. When a pupil who's decided to do this dies, he merely steps out of his body, as he has frequently done before, be fore, and waits on the astral plane till a suitable reincarnation may be arranged for him by his Master. 3. The Ordinary individual after death. Needless to say this class is millions of
times bigger than those of which we have spoken, and the character and condition of its members vary inside extremely wide limits. Inside similarly wide limits might vary also the length of their lives on the astral plane, pl ane, for while there are those who pass only a couple of days or hours there, other people remain on this level for many years and even centuries. A man who's led a great gr eat and pure life, whose strongest feelings and ambitions have
been unselfish and spiritual, will have no attraction to this plane, and will, if altogether left alone, find little to keep him on it, or to awaken him into activity even during the relatively short period of his stay.
12
For it must be recognized that after death the true man is withdrawing into
himself, and just as at the opening of that process he drops the physical body and it’s intended that he should as soon as possible cast off also the astral or desire body, and pass into the heaven-world, where alone his spiritual aspirations may bear their perfect fruit. 4. The Shade. When the separation of the principles is complete, the astral life of
the individual is over, and, as before stated, he passes pa sses into the devachanic condition. Put just as when he dies to this plane he leaves his flesh behind him, so when he dies to the astral plane he leaves a disintegrating astral body behind him. If he's purged himself from all earthly desires during life, and directed all his energies into the channels of unselfish spiritual ambition, his higher ego will be able to move back into itself the whole of the lower mind which it put forth into incarnation; in that case the body left on the astral plane pla ne will be a mere corpse c orpse like the abandoned flesh, and it will then come not into this class but into the next. 5. The Shell. This is utterly the mere astral corpse in the later stages of its decay,
every particle of the mind having left it. It's altogether without any sort of consciousness or intelligence, and is drifted passively about on the astral currents just as a cloud may be swept in any direction by a passing breeze; but even yet it might be galvanized for a few minutes into a ghastly burlesque of life if it happens happe ns to come c ome within reach of a medium's aura. Under such conditions it will still exactly resemble its departed personality in appearance, and might even reproduce to some extent his familiar expressions or handwriting, but it does so merely by the automatic action of the cells of which it's composed, which tend under stimulus to repeat the form of action to which they're most accustomed, and whatever amount of intelligence might be behind any such manifestation has most assuredly no connection. 6. The Vitalized Shell . This entity should not, to be precise, to be classified under
the head "human" at all, as it's solely its outer vesture, the passive, senseless shell, that was once an appendage a ppendage of humanity; such life, intelligence, want, and will as it might possess are those of the artificialelemental animating it, and that, though in terrible truth a origination of
13
man's evil thought isn't itself human. Let it suffice here to mention that it's always a malicious being— being —a true tempting demon, whose evil influence is limited solely by the extent of its power. sudde n death . It will be readily recognized that 7. The Suicide and the victim of sudden
a man who's torn from physical life hurriedly while in full health and durability, whether by accident or suicide, finds himself on the astral plane tinder conditions differing substantially from those which surround one who dies either from old age or from disease. In the case of the accidental death or suicide the withdrawal of the principles
from their physical encasement has been really aptly compared to the tearing of the stone out of an unripe fruit; a good deal de al of the grossest sort sort of astral matter still clings around the personality, which is therefore held in the lowest subdivision of the plane. Those victims of sudden death whose whose earth-lives have been pure and noble have no affinity for this plane. On the other hand, if men's earth-lives have been low and brutal, selfish and
sensual, like the suicides, they'll be conscious to the fullest extent in this unsuitable region and they're liable to develop into terribly evil entities. 8. The Vampire and Werewolf . There remain two even more awful but happily very
uncommon possibilities to be mentioned before this part of our subject is finished, and though they differ very widely in a lot of ways we might yet perhaps group them together, since they have in common the qualities of unearthly horror and of utmost rarity —the latter arising from the fact that they're truly legacies from earlier races— races—hideous anachronisms, appalling relics of a time when man and his environment were in many ways not what they are today. 9. The Black Magician or his pupil . This individual corresponds at the other
extremity of the scale to our second class of departed entities, the pupil expecting reincarnation, but in this case, rather than obtaining permission to adopt an unusual method of progress, the man is resisting the natural process of evolution by maintaining himself in astral life by magical arts sometimes of the most frightful nature like black magic.

Planes Of Consciousness The levels of consciousness as explained by Eckankar are: a re: the physical, astral, causal, mental, and etheric planes. Information about these levels has been distorted by countless dogmatic teachings. These levels of consciousness appear to be separated by thin areas of endless darkness, or a black void. Each level possesses its own signature vibration. The physical level vibrates at the lowest rate. In order to transition to higher levels, one must somehow change or increase the vibrations of the soul body. But this is true only above the astral plane. On the astral plane the soul occupies the astral body. The only way I have been able to ascend above the astral plane is to leave the astral body behind. And when the astral vehicle has been shed, a lighter, brighter, permanent nonphysical body can be realized. This remarkable light vehicle has often been referred to as the etheric body. The vast majority of people are afraid afra id to learn more about other levels l evels of consciousness because of fearful condemnations like, "It is the work w ork of the Devil!" In other cases individuals have been denied access to this ancient wisdom because they were deemed spiritually unqualified. In the past, knowledge of this sort could only be acquired by dedicating months or years of study in remotely isolated ashrams and/or a nd/or monasteries. For those future soul travelers it is important to acquire as much knowledge as possible, preferably before one sets sail into the world of what I like to call the "dear but not departed." It is my aim to share some of this knowledge with the reader— reader—hoping this will assist you in avoiding detours or roadblocks that will surely be encountered. I find it extremely disheartening that due to religious dogma, Western culture has been left behind in the quest for spiritual enlightenment. Hindus and Buddhists of Eastern civilizations are generally farther along the path of spiritual advancement. The religions of the East readily accept their spiritual origins and continue to seek further spiritual guidance and awareness. The concept of reincarnation, for example, is not only accepted but encouraged and taught. However, in modern Western society, this concept is only in the embryonic stages s tages of development. In spite of the widely accepted teachings of Edgar Cayce and the profound insights given by the
15
entity Seth via Jane Roberts, this awareness remains obscure and virtually unexplored. I'd like to provide some reassurance for those who are fearful and a partial road map for the more adventurous. You need not be fearful when delving into the many levels of consciousness, because they are a natural part of our existence. It has not been easy for me to overcome my own unfounded fears. Deep within myself, I have found my fear to come from or be driven by a basic "fight or flee" survival instinct. As you probably know, without this survival instinct we would likely have gone the way of the dinosaur and become extinct. If early humans had not run screaming into their subterranean shelters or massed together to repel a ravenous predator, we would not have survived. This basic survival instinct, however, is a hindrance in exploring the astral plane and beyond. You have to work to get past it. The next thing to understand about the astral plane is that it is not devoid of life. The beings there are quite unlike anything you are familiar with, but don't kid yourself: They are very real. They can be quite different, though. The level of spiritual enlightenment achieved by these beings may vary a great deal. In addition, just because the life forms there qualify as spirits and will likely possess far far greater greater capabilities than most of us, it does not mean that tha t all are wise and forthright. When a person has passed on to a higher level of consciousness, that person doesn't automatically become an angel, guide, or spirit master. I have found that we w e retain a great many characteristics of who we are in this life, both the positive and the negative. This does not mean that these entities should be feared; it just means that not all encounters with them will necessarily be for your higher good. The astral plane, as you may know by now, is just one place we w e go when our bodies die. However you end up there, be it death or soul travel, you may experience a variety of unexplainable sounds. The Eckists refer to these sounds as the voice of Sugmad or God. I myself have heard many different sounds during soul travel. t ravel. Strangely enough, Eckankar has listed many of these sounds on a rather intricate chart. For instance, the sound associated with the astral plane is the roaring of the sea. The causal plane p lane is the tinkling of bells. The mental m ental plane is running water, and the etheric is buzzing bees. A key point is that the astral plane may seem like a place to go, but in actuality it is something you become aware of. The astral plane, like oxygen, permeates the physical plane. On the astral plane we unconsciously unconsciously create a "body double" comprised of astral material. This astral body, like the physical body, serves as a containment vehicle for the soul. As I have mentioned earlier, it provides transitional stability
16
for the newly dead as well as the soul traveler. Nevertheless, it is not permanent, nor is it absolutely needed. I have slipped out of it, leaving it behind like a worn-out w orn-out pair of coveralls. If you manage to accomplish this, you will still retain all the simulated senses you have in the physical: sight, s ight, sound, touch, and in rare situations taste. Now, there are many avenues to take while touring the astral plane; but all the while wh ile be advised that deceased loved ones and strangers may present themselves with little or no warning. In the beginning keep your jaunts localized, gradually venturing farther as you gain more confidence. c onfidence. Remember, physical locations on this planet and beyond are merely a thought away. You can quickly get in over your head in the th e blink of an eye, so keep it short and simple. I also want to point p oint out that during the out-of-body experience the power of thought is a tool that must be handled carefully. Anything you can imagine you will see or experience. This alone indicates the awesome capabilities capa bilities of our soul. I have come to believe that thought is just as powerful in the physical as in the astral plane or beyond. After all, everything around you presently began as a thought in someone's mind; it just didn't manifest instantly as it would have on the astral plane. For the would-be soul traveler, there may exist within you certain religious beliefs that will prevent you from transcending the astral. When you get past these constraints, you will be able to experience the multiple dimensions above the astral plane. No matter how painful it is, I have had to discard, and I continue to discard antiquated beliefs that I held dear. You may find this painfully necessary when searching for your own ultimate truth.
Science and Astral Projection Scientific knowledge is always in a state of flux. New scientific discoveries come along and overthrow long-held hypotheses. A good example of this is the attempt by humanity to explain the phenomenon p henomenon of light. Before the dawn of science, humanity relied on religious experience and philosophy to understand light and the cosmos. The Bible declares the universe began when God said, "Let there be light." Ancient
17
religious texts throughout history have associated light with divine consciousness consciousness a consciousness from which everything, including all other consciousness, originated. The Bible declares, "God is light." Eminent E minent physicist, David Bohm, viewed all matter mat ter as "condensed" or "frozen light." Physicist Stephen Hawking Haw king once stated ,"When you break subatomic particles down to their most elemental level, you are left with nothing but pure light." Science discovered light was pervasive at the beginning of the universe. Scientists recently discovered the so-called "God Particle" - the particle which bestows mass upon all other particles. This particle is very crucial to physics because it is our final understanding of the structure of all matter. Albert Einstein's great equation E=mc2 (where E is for energy, m for mass and c is the speed of light) describes the awesome power and energy holding all atoms together. Surprisingly, the Bible supports Einstein's equation when it declares: "God is the invisible power holding all things together." This transcendent tra nscendent view of consciousness is the basis for major world religions. So it shouldn't be surprising why top quantum physicists where influenced by religion. Erwin Schrodinger, for example, studied Hinduism; Werner Heisenberg looked into Plato's theory of the ancient Greeks; Niels Bohr was drawn to the Tao; Wolfgang Pauli to the Kabbalah; and a nd Max Plank to Christianity. There is also the quantum theory of superposition where matter can exist in more than one dimension at the same time - making anomalous phenomena such as NDEs and OBEs possible. Physicists have experimentally demonstrated how two particles can be separated, and no matter by how far apart a part they are (even a billion miles apart), apa rt), a change in one particle instantly creates a simultaneous change in the other as if they were connected. This phenomenon called "quantum entanglement" which Einstein called "spooky actions from a distance" and is suggestive of an underlying reality which physicists have not yet been able to explain although there are many theories. Light also has a "dual personality" existing as both a particle and a wave. The reason we can see anything at all is because our mere observation of things converts light waves into light particles thereby making human consciousness the main factor when it comes to reality. Scientists are discovering how objective objective reality is more of an a n illusion than a reality. real ity. At deeper levels, everything - atoms, cells, molecules, plants, animals, and people participate in a connected flowing web of information. At the quantum level, the observer becomes a part of the observed and the distinction between observer observer and object disappears. Space and time are concepts we bring with us to the quantum level but they do not seem to exist there. Time flows both forward and backward symmetrically according to relativity - a concept making time travel a possibility. And
18
because all matter, including our brains and bodies, are mostly composed of empty space because of the structure of atoms held together by atomic energy, a metaphysical case can be made that we are mostly composed of non-physical "spirit." At the quantum level, location becomes non-local and everything can be thought of as being in no particular place at no particular time. What we "see" out there has more to do with our own consciousness and subjective experience than anything "out there". In light of these findings, we must conclude the notion of objective reality is in error. Physicists are discovering laws of physics are the laws of our own minds. Astral projection is a close cousin of remote viewing with some notable distinctions. With remote viewing, you don't have to put the body asleep, but instead enter an altered state of consciousness (sometimes even just a slight one). When you bilocate (or as Ingo Swann states "the immediate transfer of perceptions") during a viewing, you are very near the earth level vibrationally, and yet are not seen by the naked eye. Unlike the lower planes of the astral a stral which can be fuzzy and a nd surreal, it is no different than being fully awake (the intelligence gathering benefits to this are obvious). The better remote viewers (rare people indeed) can actually interact with their environment, meaning they can talk to beings on that plane (aliens included), swim in lakes, smell food, and hear everything-- and best of all-- they can transcend time. Science may never be able to answer the question of whether or not consciousness survives bodily death; but current near-death studies, such as The AWARE Study (AWAreness during REsuscitation) REsuscitation) is trying to find out. The director of this study, Dr. Sam Parnia M.D., is a critical care physician and director of resuscitation research at the Stony Brook University School of Medicine in New York. Dr. Parnia is recognized as an authority on the scientific study of death, the human mind –brain relationship, and near-death experience. Dr. Parnia is also the author of What Happens When We Die (2006) and a nd Erasing Death: The Science That is Rewriting the Boundaries Between Life and Death (2013). In the late 90s, Dr. Parnia Pa rnia and Dr. Peter Fenwick he set up the first study st udy of NDEs in the UK. Since then, they have published several articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals in the field of near-death studies. Since Dr. Parnia has been part of the AWARE study, launched by The Human Consciousness Project, twenty-five participating hospitals across Europe and North America have been examining reports of patients after their clinical death, several of whom are expected to have an out -of-body experience experience with physical perceptions of their surroundings. A major objective of the AWARE study is to test whether the perceptions reported by these patients can be verified. One method involves a visual target being placed near the ceiling where it can only be seen by someone reading it from above; patients who report OBEs are then asked to describe

Now, if you've done some research on remote viewing you'll eventually come across figures like Ingo Swann, Ed Dames (ex-military), and Gerald O'Donnell, to mention a few. Why are these people important to this assumption that the government knows about out of body travels? Ingo Swann boggled many minds, and especially some within the intelligence community. His history is long but he spent several decades researching and utilizing remote viewing with Dr. Hal Puthoff Put hoff of Stanford Research Institute and Research physicist Russell Targ. Their work resulted in funds from the CIA that supported them (in secret) during the Cold War. During this time the government's support for the growing RV program moved from the CIA to the Defense Intelligence Agency, as well as certain other military organizations. The Army also conducted their own remote viewing for possible intelligence against foreign adversaries. All this later came out through SRI and the CIA after it was declassified in 1995 when Congress moved responsibility from the DIA back to the CIA which was seen as the "fall" of RV within the government). Sections of the government and other sectors are fully aware of these potentials. To me, it's not a matter of if they are aware (since they themselves admitted so), but if they are really doing anything about it now. To learn more click here!
Sylvan Muldoon's Research Astral projection is closely related to the out-of-body experience (OBE), near-death experience (NDE), lucid dreaming, and even remote viewing. v iewing. The difference between them is that astral projection is a consciously induced OBE. Such OBEs provide an excellent argument when it comes to evidence for the survival of consciousness. Some astral projections and OBEs are veridical - that is - the experiencer accurately describes objects or events which they were not physically in a position to observe normally. Such veridical OBEs cannot be explained expla ined in conventional physiological terms (e.g., as a relatively infrequent neurological phenomenon) or in conventional psychological terms (e.g., as a dissociative hallucination). They also cannot be explained in terms of ordinary ESP or mental telepathy. For these reasons, the most plausible remaining explanation (and according to Occam's Razor) is the hypothesis that one's mental activity can literally be at locations l ocations different different from that occupied
20
by one's body. This means that at least some mental states which are at locations remote from the body are distinct from bodily states. And according to the survival hypothesis, one's characteristic mental activity can continue in the absence of corresponding bodily activity, even after bodily death. Such OBEs are at least compatible with the survival hypothesis, even if it doesn't entail it. Therefore, to some extent, the evidence for OBEs OBEs also supports the survival hypothesis. hyp othesis. Muldoon’s Thirst Technique
Sylvan Muldoon, born in 1903, was just as much a pioneer in the research of astral traveling and altered states of consciousness as Robert Monroe was. His books – one of their earliest on the subject matter – have helped to add quantifiable knowledge to the study of the astral projection phenomena. An interesting astral projection method that stems from Muldoon is called the “thirst technique”. According to Muldoon, “thirst is the strongest and most quickly produced ‘stress’ ”, which stimulates the subconscious will to action (taken from p. 117, “Projection of the Astral Body” by Sylvan J. Muldoon and Hereward Carrington, Weiser Books [1970]). I do NOT recommend this technique for obvious health reasons.
OBE Preparations When I asked what percentage of people actually achieved a controlled, conscious out-of-body experience, I was told about twenty to thirty-five percent. I'm not trying to discourage anyone. I just want to suggest that a trial of patience may be in store for you. These techniques are not guaranteed, of course. They are just some examples of what I've tried with a certain amount of success. Try them all until you feel comfortable or achieve some results. If you fall asleep, don't be concerned,
because you may be closer than you think. If you feel more comfortable surrounding yourself with white light, then do so. If you like to use crystals, then use them. The goal is to get as relaxed as possible. possible.
21
One other thing you must remember, prior to traveling and during soul travel, is that you are a being of light and nothing can harm you unless you think it can. Even Even then, after the experience you will emerge unblemished. I have found that my worst enemy during out-of-body experiences is my own uncontrolled imagination. imagination. I have learned that whatever I imagine —devils, demons, or pink elephants— elephants—will be created instantly. I have found that it is important to keep my thoughts clear and uncluttered. In addition, it is important not to prejudge or guess what is going to happen, hap pen, because you might be be the one one creating it! it! Keep dreamlike manifestations manifestations from from contaminating your out-of-body experiences. But controlled controlled use use of the imagination during a journey journey can be quite amazing and downright fun. I offer the following techniques and mental exercises with the hope that they will serve you as they have me. The spiritual path that I have taken has sometimes been a bumpy one, but I now know that every emotional twist and turn has brought me to this point. I have ha ve found that emotions like stress, anger, envy, or negative thoughts hamper if not sever the chain of events leading up to an out-of-body experience. So, get rid of them. (Piece of cake, right?) Approach this type of experience with as much inner peace as possible. This is something that can't be faked; you must be steadfast in achieving this state. Anger, hate, and envy will point you in the opposite direction of inner peace. I have found that in the majority of contentious situations, the outcome had very little long-term negative impact on my life. But the associated a ssociated tension tension has had ha d a profound pro found impact on my out-of-body experiences. I have switched to acquiescing in personal disputes, rather than holding stubbornly to my own point of view. Sometimes we defend our correctness to the brink of insanity. Remember, inner peace is the goal, and that peace should reflect in as many areas of your life as possible. I don't believe that stress, tension, or any other emotion can be extinguished by merely throwing a mental switch. The effects or remnants of negative emotions may require thorough housekeeping deep within, even though there are few visible indications on the surface. This negativity may be at work on a subconscious level, preventing you from achieving total relaxation. In other words, you won't be going anywhere!
22
I am not suggesting that in situations where you may have concerns for your own or someone's safety you should not stick to your convictions. However, when the stress of being incorrect is far less than the th e stress of proving correctness, why choose the latter— latter—especially if neither outcome has a long-term effect on your life? One more reason why we shouldn't hold such inflexible views is that we w e don't all think the same way. It frequently appears as if we all create and operate in simultaneous yet slightly different realities. Our everyday thoughts are all too often generated by the things we fear —for example, fear of being alone, penniless, homeless, jobless, and loveless, just to name a few. These fears have a profound effect on the actions and decisions each of us must choose in the course of our everyday lives. It is because of these fears that we either spring into action when none is needed, or fail fa il to take action a ction when we know we should. We seem constantly to be afraid of what might happen! happ en! And what might happen is always alwa ys bad. We allow our behavior to be controlled controlled by this fear instead of being led by our higher selves. Ironically, because of this fear the vast majority of us haven't the slightest clue that there is a higher h igher self. Thus, fear becomes an impenetrable curtain between the personality self and the God within. So, simply put, fear is for people who don't know God. If you arrive at this realization, you will have very little difficulty during your own soul travels. To all of you who've shared your kind words with me in your emails over the past months, I say simply this, thank you from the bottom of my heart and soul. You are exactly who I created this app for. And for those of you who've had
near-death or out-of-body experiences, please remember this: Yes, you did get a glimpse of what it is like to go home. And how fortunate we are to know beyond a shadow of a doubt that there is no death, only a change of worlds.
Astral Projection
At some point in your life, you'll no doubt have come across the term “astral

its dynamics, and if it's really conceivable, you first have to comprehend what it is in principle. Simply put, astral projection is the act wherein a human’s soul is able to depart his or her physical body and travel to another location. The key to a successful astral projection lies in 2 key factors: ▪
▪
Your power to compose yourself into state of complete relaxation in both mind and body; and Your power to tune projectionfrequencies.

Make a conscious effort to release all stress from your body, beginning at your face, then your neck, moving on to your shoulders, then your arms, moving down throughout the remainder of your body. After you’ve cleared up all tension from your body, the following step is to center on your breathing. breathing. Take in a deep breath breath through your nose and hold it in for numerous numerous counts. Then, expel your breath through your mouth slowly, centering on increasing your state of relaxation. Use the 4-7-8 Breathing Technique to relax in less than 1 minute Many people find that this breathing technique immediately ends an anxiety or panic attack. .
Once you’ve accomplished a state of relaxation, the following thing to do to do would w ould be to center on your desire to astral project. Envision leaving your physical body, and exploring your environment with your astral self. Leave behind all concerns and apprehensions with reference to leaving your physical self behind, and center
on the experience. By utilizing this you might or might not be successful on your first attempt, so
don't be frustrated if you don’t successfully switch your consciousness to your astral body. Simply keep practicing , and you will eventually be able to master the process.

Astral Travel
While you astral travel, you'll go through a feeling much like flying through the air,
while you'reasleep . This flying sensation is the way by which the astral body moves along the astral plane. It's elementary to do. Before going to sleep, you ought to think about where you wish to go and what you wish to do, while your body is asleep. Your subconscious mind and astral body work to fulfill that which you want. Although, dreaming and astral travel are not the same, a lot of individuals do confuse them. But, don't understand this to mean that each dream you have is an experience of astral travel. Right after you first doze off, you start to dream. This is actually your brain going over all the uncertain issues of your life during the day that's bothering you. This type of dreaming is a natural nightly procedure that actually keeps you from going crazy from tension and stress. Most of these sorts of dreams drea ms are forgotten upon waking, unless naturally you might recall really small details de tails or fragments when you get up. Your experiences of astral travel are really the dreams you are able to remember. It's a worthwhile to keep a dream diary to put down your dreams. You may
do this when you wake in the middle of the night as well as when you first get up in the morning. Make sure to write down as much as you may remember of these dreams. Even if they don't make much sense to you, write them down anyhow. Shortly, they'll make sense to you. Regular dreams help to relieve day-to-day stress and allow you to keep your
saneness. Astral Astral travel is just as advantageous to you and your healthy wellbeing. It's crucial that you record the dreams you do remember in a dream diary and this why we added our own note taking diary in the "MORE" tab. Bear in mind that as we’re all different, that our experiences with astral travel will vary too. We may each find something advantageous from practicing astral traveling.
25
In general, the advantages of astral travel include a better sense of your
spirituality and your connection to the remainder of the universe. This will lead to a higher sense of well being and a feeling of inner peace. Astral travel may likewise better your memory and boost your level of creative thinking. Astral travel has this advantage because it utilizes a part of the brain which doesn't get a lot of stimulation while we're awake. You'll likewise find your psychic abilities sharpened. Regular astral travelers have stated that their precognition, telepathy and power to sense the presence of spirits all become heightened. If you astral travel, you utilize untapped psychic energies and cause your psychic powers to bloom. blo om. There are even skeptics who didn't believe in astral projection or astral travel who
formulated a sense of seeing and reading the auras of other people. For many people learning and practicing pra cticing astral travel and astral projection provides them a wonderful fresh freedom that they've never experienced previously. Astral travel makes going anyplace you want and doing anything you like really possible. Possibly you wonder why more individuals don't enjoy the practice of astral travel
since it furnishes some really great benefits to everybody. The answer is simple as it may be discovered in the fact that a lot of people wrongly assume that only those who are gifted may astral travel. To the contrary, astral travel in a natural born ability, anybody may do it. More than likely you've astral traveled yourself without even recognizing you were
doing it. In order to acquire the advantages of astral travel experiences is to know consciously that you're doing it. You must then utilize control over what your astral body does while projecting. Luckily, there are a lot of talented individuals have written books or made videos that are very resourceful for you, while you learn how to astral project. Remember, this is a natural capacity and everyone may do it. All the same, many individuals have forgotten how to do this. You simply need to remind yourself and finetune your innate astral travel potentiality.

Astral Love Love in the astral world is love very much as most humans understand it: strongly emotional with much influence from the instinctual and physical side of life, but also with incursions and illuminations from the mental and spiritual levels. The word "sex" has a few meanings, too; and the fact that tha t several of these meanings are often to be found confused together, is - well, w ell, that's the nature of sex. About astral love, then, there's no problem; but clearly, astral sex s ex is not the same thing th ing as earthly sex. Certainly it can feel the same - it can feel like earthly sex, raised to a high mathematical "power" but it can't be the same, because the bodies involved involved are of astral substance, not of earthly substance. substa nce. Nor can our thoughts about astral sex be contained within the conventional framework, because human law and a nd custom alike are geared to regulate the conduct of earthly bodies, not of psychic entities. Such a variety of questions are always raised by the topic of astral sex. It seems best to consider a number of them now as question and answer, insofar as answers can be given feel the same - it can feel like earthly sex, raised to a high mathematical "power" - but it can't be the same, because the bodies involved are of astral substance, not of earthly substance. Nor can our thoughts about astral sex be contained within the conventional framework, because human law and custom alike are geared to regulate the conduct of earthly bodies, not of psychic entities. Having a physical body to come back to means that you need to keep your emotional reaction to all experiences on the astral plane very minimal. If I f you allow yourself to get too excited the experience will end promptly and you will find yourself back in your body. It is important that you develop d evelop your ability to concentrate and limit your emotional responses by channeling your emotional energy through your astral body to be transmuted for other uses. Failure to do this could result in extreme disappointment and futile attempts to desperately get back to the astral planes.
27
On a positive note engaging in astral sex purifies pur ifies your emotional energy, raising your vibrational frequencies frequencies while dispelling negativity. This assumes as sumes you are not engaging with negative entities. Unfortunately, even if you are a seasoned astral traveler you may still have difficulty maintaining the stability of your astral projections during or after a sexual experience. This is due to the fact that the silver si lver cord connecting connecting the astral to your physical body is transmitting all kinds of energies which your brain reacts to, taking your mind out out of that all important theta state. state.
Astral Healing All healing begins on the astral plane. Strictly, it begins higher than that, but the astral is the level at which we can get to it and a nd help. Two reasons; one, the astral is the world in which the great powers of spiritual being and mind-life can meet, and through the medium of the astral can enmesh with the heavier and slower potencies of physical being. And - two - the emotional and instinctual life of the sufferer, which needs to take a major part in the process, is itself in and of the astral a stral world. The astral is the level at which we can help the healing process. This is said not merely as a matter of modesty, and not simply to guide the practical psychic to remain within the law: for in truth nobody, not even the most highly qual ified member of the medical profession, can do more than help the healing process that, if it is to take place at all, must take place within the material and non-material levels of the total being of the sufferer.
Taking and giving To put our helping in the broadest possible terms, it can be considered under two heads: the removal of something the sufferer would be better off without, and the giving of something the sufferer needs. The latter requirement is most generally recognized as the province of the psychic helper, for there is one gift, energy, which needs little skill to give, and which is very welcome to a person afflicted with anything from a fractured limb to chronic depression.
28
Further, a sufferer with sufficient reserves of energy can ca n frequently cope with the other part of the program if that is needed - getting rid of whatever would impede healing - without too much difficulty. However, in that area, too, there is often much that can be done by the psychic helper, particularly by one who can act a ct on the astral level. A person for whose well-being you mean to do any astral work w ork should always be told beforehand of your intended help. Not necessarily, unless you know they can take it, that you are going to leave your body in order to give that help, but that at a specific time you will be with them in spirit, or in mind, as they may understand it. People often use such phrases, forgetting the words were originally meant to have a quite literal meaning; this may give you a chance to lead your friend gradually to a realization that the truth is better than they had hoped. At all events, something should be said as to your intent. That is not only good ethical practice (and good manners); it gives the person the cheer and encouragement of your purposed help, and also means he or she can be more cooperative with your actions on the occasion itself. This is not at all contradicted by the fact that you'll try to choose a time for your astral work when the recipient will be asleep. It is the physical body that sleeps: the psyche, the entire nonmaterial part of the person, will be awake, every level in its own manner. For this reason, there would seem no grounds to limit the obligation to tell your intention of astral work to those who are in fit condition to indicate that they hear you. The comatose and the delirious, for instance, may very well be aware of what you say to them; the student of states of projection should, of all people, have no problem regarding this.
The importance of looking Most likely you'll know beforehand where the trouble is. That makes your task easier, but in astral work a great deal is done by means of looking. You should not underrate this part of the proceedings. Even if you know for a fact that your friend has a torn ligament, a fractured bone, a ruptured (or simply troublesome) appendix - or whatever - you still want to see, astrally, so you can fix your attention upon it. If you want to see if a window is clean, you look at the glass; and even if something quite strange should be happening out beyond the window, you might not at that
29
moment notice it. If on the other hand ha nd you look through the window w indow for the purpose of seeing something on the other side, then you pay no heed to specks or smears on the glass and they may not even come into your visual focus. So, from force of habit, naturally your first astral look is at the outside of your friend, as if you were in your earthly body. Then, astrally, you can if you wish look "through the window" of a person's exterior. You can see into a person's internal organs or cavities, bone structure, or muscles - even into the circulatory and lymphatic systems, should this be required. When you have found the seat of the trouble, you can work on it.
What you really do It will seem to you exactly as if you were w ere working on your friend's bodily structure: structure: the physical nerves, muscles, heart, stomach, or so on. In reality you are working on the astral substance that underlies, enmeshes with, and maintains the bodily parts in question. This knowledge ought not to puzzle you or hinder you in your actions: it simply explains why those th ose actions are effective. effective. For instance: supposing this is a case of a fractured bone, fragmented at the point of injury. With your astral hands you can bring the fragments together, replacing and reshaping the parts of the bone as they should be; then from those hands you bring astral substance, you charge it by an act of will with energy for healing, and with it you cement the repair you've just made, packing and covering the fracture with it. Then you can return to the exterior of your friend, smooth and soothe the site of the injury, and bid the sleeper to sleep soundly and awake awa ke refreshed and recovered. recovered. It may in most cases take a little while for the physical body to catch up with the astral pattern, but your help will have been to great purpose. There is, as you may be aware, another level of the astral body - one further removed from the earth level - at which the injury has not existed at all; a ll; and that is the pattern to which the healing physical body will try to conform, and will conform all the more closely because of your help. It will probably be obvious to you, as a s a matter of reason, that you have not mended a physical bone with astral substance, although that is what you saw your astral hands doing. The substance on which you worked was your friend's astral substance that was enmeshed with the injured bone. You restored that astral to its proper form,
30
you added added astral substance, energy, and well wishing of your your own - all of which should hasten the swift, natural, and healthy healing of the injury.
How to Have an Out of Body Experience
Astral projection refers to an out-of-body-experience (OBE) during which the astral body leaves the physical body and travels to the astral plane. People often experience this state during illness or when involved in a near death experience, but it is also possible to practice astral projection at will. This article contains instructions on how to get started. 1.Preparation is required for the astral projection. p rojection. 2.Start in the morning . OBEs are most common in the morning at 4:00am-6:00am, however trying this at night or when you are tired will probably just make you fall asleep. Rather than practicing astral projection at night, right before you go to sleep, start in the early morning hours when you're still feeling drowsy. Some say that it's easier to reach the necessary state of relaxation and heightened awareness awa reness around dawn. Yet it is possible to astral travel at any time so there are no hard and fast rules. It is a personal preference or simply astral traveling when we feel empowered to do it. 3.Create the right atmosphere . Astral projection requires a state of deep relaxation, so it should be performed in a part of your home where you're completelycomfortable . It's easier to perform astral projection alone than it is with someone else in the room. If you usually sleep with a partner, choose choose a room other than the bedroom to practice astral projection. A good time to do it is when no one else is in and make sure no one is going to walk into the room when you're in astral flight. fl ight. Draw the shades or curtains and rid the room of distracting noises. Any type of interruption could disrupt the state of relaxation relaxat ion you need to achieve.
31
4.Lie down and relax. Position yourself on your back in your chosen room. Many people choose to lie down on their backs, but be forewarned that temporarysleep paralysis is more likely in this position if you do fall asleep. These may consist of dark figures, ghosts or whatever you fear entering your room. Though this may sound scary, the more you realize real ize they cannot physically harm you for they are your mind's creation, the less scary it is to endure. Close your eyes and try to clear your mind of distracting thoughts. Concentrate on your body and how it feels. feels. The goal is to achieve a state of complete mind and body relaxation. Flex your muscles and then loosen them. Start with your toes and work w ork your way up your body, gradually making your way to your head. Make sure every muscle is completely relaxed when you are through. Breathe deeply and exhale completely. Don't hold tension in your chest and shoulders, just relax. Focus your mind on your breathing . Don't get carried ca rried away with thoughts of outside worries, and don't get preoccupied yet with the idea of your soul projecting from your body. Just let let yourself sink into relaxation. It can be helpful to use a quartz crystal to raise and speed up your vibrations as preparation. Gently hold the crystal on your third eye slightly above the centre of your eyebrows with w ith closed eyes and a nd breathing deeply. Feel the vibrations and your head clearing; you can envision golden, white, purple or any color light if you like. During the meditation and astral travelling you can hold the crystal in your hand or place it on your chest or abdomen. The crystal will empower empow er and protect you because of it's high vibrations; v ibrations; negative energies energies have lower vibrations. vi brations. y ou are going to have an out-of-body experience. Say 5.Affirm to yourself that you to yourself "Mind awake-Body Asleep " or "I will have a lucid dream." Repeat this several times until it is the only thought left in your mind. fall asleep. Actually sleeping would defeat the purpose. 6.Allow yourself to almost fall Instead, let yourself drift close to sleep while concentrating on being conscious of your sensations and mental state.

Astral Projection Methods
Method 1 - Robert Monroe’s Technique
Robert A. Monroe was a pioneer in the research and investigation of altered alt ered human consciousness, whose experimenting with a group of researchers led to the foundation of the Monroe Institute that studied and tested his theses with volunteers in its research institution. Monroe is credited for having brought to light the term “out -of-body -of-body experience” (short: OBE) with his very popular book “Journeys Out of the Body” that was published in 1971. The technique described in the following has been tested on many individuals and was found to work extraordinarily, as it allowed participants to induce a very powerful out-of-body-experience. out-of-body-experience. Monroe’s technique consists of four different parts, namely n amely “Relaxation”, “State of Vibration”, “Control of Vibrations” and finally “The Separation Process” itself. The first step of his technique – “Relaxation” – focuses – focuses on the physical and mental relaxation, which can be regarded as the foundation of every successful attempt to have an OOBE (out-of-body-experience) or inducing an astral journey.
Secondly, the stage named “Control of Vibrations” has the main objective to utilize the vibrations under conscious control by systematically applying different procedures. Finally, after having achieved a form of control over the vibrations “The Separation Process” of physical and mental dissociation can begin. Luckily, this is not as difficult sounding as the “Vibration” stage described above. Method 2 - Controlling Your Vibrations 1.Feel a vibrating sensation in your body. As you relax further, you should become more aware of what's happening inside your mind and body than anything happening in the room around you. Try to feel the vibration of your body, coming from both the larger pulse of your blood and breath to the th e individual movements of your cells. You may think you hear sounds like a tornado/wind. The urge to move here will be
33
tremendous, especially especially if it's your first f irst time. Just relax deeper and deeper until the sounds passes, but avoid falling asleep . 2.Try to slow the vibration. Visualize the movements of your body slowing and the sounds and sensations of vibrations getting fainter. Soon everything will be completely silent and your body will be still. 3.Let your body become paralyzed. Some say it feels like a lead blanket bla nket has been placed over you. You may notice all of a sudden that you can't move your arms or legs. Don't panic! If you try to force yourself to move you may wake up. You will, however, be able to move your eyes, mouth, nose, and face, so try moving those slightly instead. Method 3 - Leaving Your Body With the Rope Approach
1.Feel your hands grasping an invisible rope. Don't move your actual hands or visualize the rope. The " rope method" relies on the imaginary feeling of the rope, not a mental image. Focus on the texture, thickness and heftiness of the rope. Feel the tension in your arms between the strength of the rope and the pull of your weight If you have trouble using the rope technique, try imagining a ladderinstead. Some people find this easier, especially if they are more accustomed to climbing ladders than ropes.
2.Use the rope to pull yourself up and start climbing. Feel your muscles contract and your body move upward when you pull. Don't visualize: imagine you are doing this in pure darkness. Keep going up. Soon you will find yourself out of your body, triggering the "projection reflex." If you experience vibrations in your body as you y ou climb, try to relax more, or else you will only lose more energy and it will become harder. If you have trouble, try
climbing up as you inhale and then resting as you exhale. The rope method is a more practical variation on the more iconic technique of visualizing yourself floating up. Though floating out of one's body all at once makes for a better image in the movies, it's not as effective in real life.
34
3.Open your astral eyes. Once you know you are out of your body, open your eyes. You should be viewing your room from the side of your bed, with your body s till lying there still with eyes closed.
If you want, try to open your third eye first, low on the center of your forehead.
Method 4 - Leaving Your Body Using the Point-Shift P oint-Shift Approach 1.Visualize every detail of the space around you. Make sure you get a good look at your surroundings before you lie down. Now try to recall and feel the location and shape of every object in the room, ro om, as it looks from where you are resting. 2.Visualize the space around you as seen from a different point in the room. Once you have the image of the room clear in your mind's eye, shift that perspective to try to see that image as though you were standing over or near your body. In some ways you should already feel like you have left your body. 3.Rise from your body to the spot you were visualizing from. Stay very relaxed, but be forceful in your will to gently bring yourself to that point. Feel yourself moving up and over to that th at space, and visualize your perspective changing. Then open your astral eyes.
Method 5 - Leaving Your Body Using the Interrupted Sleep Approach 1 .Set an alarm clock for the middle of your sleep cycle. 2.When it goes off , shut off and lay back and relax. This can be done in a comfortable chair, also. 3.Try to feel the sensation of 'falling' very close to sleep then mentally 'pull' yourself back awake. Try to feel falling into the mattress mattress as you near sleep, sleep, then pull yourself back up to near awake. 4.Repeat as you attempt to get very close to sleep then back to near awake. Eventually when you pull yourself back to nearly awake, you will actually pull yourself up, out of your body.

Direct Techniques
Direct techniques for entering into an out-of-body experience are used without prior sleep by performing specific actions while lying down with the eyes closed. The advantage of direct techniques is that, in theory, they can be performed at any moment. However, a large drawback exists in the t he length of time it takes ta kes to master the techniques. Only 50% of practitioners achieve success after making attempts over a period of 2 to 3 weeks. For some, an entire year may pass p ass before results are realized. The difficulty in achieving results with direct techniques is not a problem of inaccessibility, but the natural psychological characteristics ch aracteristics of the individual. Not everyone is able to clearly understand the specific nuances involved, which is why some will continually make mistakes. Many practitioners strive to master direct techniques right away because they appear to be the most convenient, straightforward, and concrete techniques. However, it is a grave mistake to begin attempting and mastering OBE entrance from this level. In 90% of cases where novices begin their th eir training with direct techniques, failure is guaranteed. Moreover, a vast amount of time, effort, and emotion will be wasted. As a result, complete disillusionment with the entire subject of OBE experiences is possible. Direct techniques should only be practiced after mastery of the easiest indirect techniques or how to become conscious when dreaming. dreaming. In any case, ca se, difficulties will not wear one down afterwards, as it will be exceedingly clear from one's own experience that the OBE is not a figment of the imagination. Also, an advanced knowledge of indirect techniques will make it considerably easier to achieve direct entry into the OBE. It is also worth always keeping in mind the average amount of time people spend on direct and indirect techniques to achieve results. For example, a novice expends an average of 5 minutes(5 attempts) on indirect techniques for each OBE experience (averaging both successful and unsuccessful attempts), but 300 minutes(20 attempts) on direct techniques for each OBE experience. An advanced OBEr averages less than a minute (1-2 attempts) performing indirect techniques for each OBE experience, but 30 minutes on direct techniques (2-3 attempts). Quality of the OBE experience is not dependent upon the chosen entrance technique. Direct techniques do not necessarily provide a deeper, more lasting OBE over indirect techniques. Direct techniques are better suited for some practitioners and
36
not others, but this can only be said for a minority of the practicing population. Meanwhile, indirect techniques are accessible to absolutely everyone all of the time. Direct techniques are performed without any noticeable lapse in consciousness. While practicing direct techniques, a lapse into sleep for less than 5 minutes is not considered a breach of the technique. By definition, direct techniques encompass the performance of specific actions for a pre-defined interval of time. Successfully applied, direct methods result in a OBE entrance without passing through any intermediary states. For 90% of the population, popula tion, these techniques are the most difficult because the mind naturally exists in an excessively active state. stat e. It has been clearly proven within the School’s student body that novice practitioners do not benefit from beginning a training regimen with direct techniques. This is because direct techniques require a thorough understanding and masterful application of indirect techniques in order to be effective. The incorrect notion that the OBE state is extremely difficult to enter is due to the fact that people are more often drawn to the more difficult direct techniques. It is always better to approach direct techniques only after becoming expert in the use of indirect techniques. Direct techniques differ from indirect techniques in their implementation because of the slow, halting production of results that occurs from the beginning of a direct attempt through the end of it. If upon awakening something happens to work, then this can practically always lead to entrance into the OBE. For example, the same phantom wiggling before sleep can begin quickly enough, but range of movement will not be easy to increase, and the t he entire implementation of the technique will rely on protracted, rhythmic movement. Results take much longer: ten minutes instead of ten seconds. These differences differences also apply to every technique described in this app. Like with the practice of indirect techniques, to begin the practice of direct techniques, a practitioner should choose 2 or 4 of the most suitable techniques from those that prove most effective for the individual. The primary difference in working with direct techniques is the time that it i t takes to exercise each. If testing a specific indirect technique takes only 3 to 5 seconds, then in this case several minutes will be spent. Duration varies depending on certain factors.
37
Indirect Techniques
Genuine practice of OBE entrance is best begun with the easiest, most accessible methods: indirect techniques, which are conscious actions performed upon awakening from sleep. Some critics incorrectly assume that indirect techniques are not ideal, and prefer to start with direct techniques. However, doing so provides no guarantee guara ntee of success and results in a large amount of wasted wa sted time and effort. Starting practice with indirect techniques guarantees entrance into the OBE. O BE. A specific universal technique that suits every practitione pra ctitionerr is a myth since individuals differ widely in personality, psychology, and learning speed. However, there is a relatively easy universal algorithm, or procedure, that accounts for the characteristics of each person and allows for the most rational, effective way to attain the initial OBE entrances. This algorithm encompasses cyclic practicing of the indirect techniques covered covered in this chapter. chap ter. Without exception, these techniques techniques despite their varying degrees of difficulty - are suitable for every practitioner who wishes to experience the OBE. Results can be expected immediately following the first few attempts; however, to achieve measurable results, an average of five conscious attempts must be made. Making more than five attempts even over the course of a single day is fine, too. There is nothing difficult to understand about performing p erforming the techniques since they are clearly laid out and based on real internal processes. Remarkably, due to correctly practiced indirect indirect techniques, more than half of students at the live sch ool attain OBE entrance after only two days. In order to ensure that one’s efforts are most fruitful and productive, we are going to individually examine each step and principle behind the actions in great detail. Let us start from a description of the techniques themselves, which will actually apply practically just as much to direct techniques as to indirect indirect techniques; as they only differ in character and length of application. There are plenty of techniques, so after practicing all of the indirect techniques presented in this chapter, a practitioner should be able to choose three or four of the most straightforward, individually effective e ffective methods. Separation techniques will be examined later. They are completely different from usual techniques, which only bring one into the OBE, but do not necessarily
38
themselves lead to separation from the body. It is often also necessary to know how to stop perceiving one’s physical body after a fter employing these techniques. It is necessary to understand when to employ these techniques, and the importance of waking from sleep without opening the eyes or moving the body. Attempting to enter the OBE immediately upon awakening must be learned and practiced to mastery since it constitutes the main barrier to successful practice. After examining the peripheral information surrounding indirect techniques, the cycles of indirect techniques will be examined, including what they are, how they work, and how they are best used. Successful OBE entrance is the direct result of performing these cycles. However, there are exceptions, and it is not completely necessary to proceed with these cycles if one's own mind somehow hints what exactly one should start from, which we will also examine separately.
Conscious Awakening
Conscious awakening is waking up with a particular p articular thought in mind; ideally, a thought about indirect techniques. In order to start using indirect techniques upon awakening, it is not sufficient to have a cursory knowledge of the techniques to be used when waking. Due to the peculiarities of the human mind and its habits, it is not always easy when waking to recall any particular motive or idea. The goal of conscious awakening is to practice instant action without being idle after waking up. This is not difficult at all a ll for approximately 75% of the population. popula tion. However, for the other one-quarter of the population, this is a difficult barrier to entry that can even seem insurmountable. If such thoughts arise, one should simply understand that this cannot be so, and that persistent attempts and training are the key solution. The reasons why people are a re unable to remember practicing OBE upon awakening aw akening are: not being in the habit of immediately doing anything upon awakening, awa kening, a desire to sleep longer, a desire to go to the bathroom, being thirsty,a desire to suddenly start solving day-to-day problems, and so on. Conscious awakening with the intent of
39
attempting an indirect technique should be a practitioner’s primary goal, which should be pursued at every cost. The speed at which OBE is learned and experienced depends on this. There are several s everal effective tricks to learning conscious awakenin awa kening: g: Intention upon falling asleep: This is the very important to successfully achieving conscious awakening. A very clear scientific fact has been proven by somnologists (scientists who study sleep): upon awakening, people usually think about what they had been thinking about before falling asleep. This phenomenon is easy to observe if the sleeper is experiencing a serious life problem; they fall asleep with the problem and wake with it. So, in a case like this, if difficulties at the front of the mind are replaced with a desire to practice OBE, this will produce the desired effect. It is not necessary to think solely about conscious awakening while falling asleep. It is sufficient to simply affirm the intention clearly and distinctly, even stating the intention out loud. Practicing these types of conscious actions while entering sleep will do much to promote the success of indirect techniques upon awakening. General intent: The more clearly a practitioner concentrates on the importance and necessity of waking up and immediately remembering to practice the techniques, the more solid the intent will become, become, and the more likely the process will fulfill its role and actually lead to results. Affirming desires: Sometimes an internal intention is simply not enough for some people, or they are unable to properly affirm one by virtue of individual characteristics. In this case, an affirmation of desires should be introduced at the physical level. This could be in the form of a note with a description of a goal placed next to the bed, under one’s pillow, or hung on the wall. It could be a conversation with friends or family about the particular desire, or by repeatedly vocalizing the actions that need to be performed upon awakening. It could even be an entry in a diary, blog, or texting on a mobile phone.
Analyzing unsuccessful awakenings: Analyzing unsuccessful attempts at conscious awakening is extremely important. When remembering the failed attempt after several minutes, several hours, or even later in the day, focus on it and resolve to succeed during the next attempt. Deep exploration of the failure is highly effective and practical since the practitioner is learning learning what works, what doesn’t work, and making healthy resolutions toward success.
40
Creating motivation: The greater the desire to enter into OBE to accomplish a goal there, the quicker successful conscious awakening is achieved. Motivation is be created by a great desire to do or experience something in OBE. In general, previous visits to OBE are great motivation, but an uninitiated person does not know it and will need something to which they can relate. For some, this could be a childhood dream of flying to Mars, for others it could be the opportunity to see a loved one who has passed away, for another it could be the chance to obtain specific information, or influence the course of a physical phy sical illness, and so forth. The best moment for conscious awakening is while exiting a dream. This Th is is the most effective and productive time to attempt separation or performing the techniques. At this moment, physical awareness of the body is at a minimum. Awareness at the very end of a dream often occurs after nightmares, painful experiences in the dream, falling dreams – any dream that causes a sudden awakening. With time, one should develop a reflex that enables one to perform planned actions at the moment of awakening, but when consciousness itself has not yet had time to return. This type of reflex is highly beneficial to seizing the most fruitful of opportunities to enter OBE. Due to various psychological and physiological factors, it is not possible for every person to achieve conscious awakening after every sleep cycle. c ycle. Thus, there is no point po int in becoming upset if conscious awakening does not occur every time. Experiencing only 2 to 3 awakenings per day is normal; this is sufficient enough to attempt OBE entrance 2 to 5 times per week w eek when practiced daily. It is not worth getting carried away with an excessive number of attempts. During the School’s courses, it has been noted that tha t doing 10 conscious awakenin awa kenings gs or more (some students try 20 or even 30) 3 0) over the course of one night and morning rarely yields results. This is due to the fact that if one sets sets oneself a goal that is desired so much that its realization breaks the natural rhythms of the body, one deprives oneself of the intermediate, transitional states that make OBE effective. A practitioner may also quickly become emotionally exhausted from the large number of attempts and be unable to push limits in the right direction. direction. The upside is that one will simply tire out. If that starts to happen, it is better to calm down and try to approach the matter in a more relaxed manner, evenly and gradually.
41
Plan Of Action In OBE
Before entering OBE, you should clearly outline what you are going to do there immediately after separation. This will increase both the quality of the experience and the likelihood of it occurring. Below is a list of the most interesting (if not the most straightforward) OBE activities for novices (choose no more than 2 to 3 activities and remember them well): ▪

Put your hand inside your body Feel vibrations Inhabit two bodies at once Inhabit another person's body Move and set fire to objects just by looking at them Drink liquor
For your first OBE, be sure to set yourself the goal of making it to a mirror and looking at your reflection. You should specifically program yourself to do this activity, as it will substantially facilitate your first steps in conquering OBE. You may then complete other items on your plan of action and never return to the mirror again. If your sensations in the OBE are dull (i.e. poor sight or numbed bodily sensations), try to touch everything around you actively and scrutinize the minute details of objects from up-close. This will allow you to have a more realistic experience. The same activities should be performed in order to maintain the OBE when the first symptoms of a return to the body occur (for example, when everything becomes dim). Returning to the body is something you needn't worry about. The state will not last la st more than several minutes in any case, especially for novices who are littleacquainted with techniques for maintaining the OBE. DIDN'T WORK?
Set yourself this goal: make 5 to 10 attempts to leave your body upon awakening. This procedure, when followed correctly, is sufficient for 50 to 80 percent of novices to get their first results. Turn back to this section if you run into a problem, as it describes the mistakes encountered in 99% (!) of unsuccessful attempts. Never try these techniques every day, otherwise the success rate of your attempts will drop drastically! Spend no more than 2 to 3 days of the week on it, preferably only on days off. If you don't have an opportunity to sleep in long and with interruption, then don't forget that cycles of indirect techniques can also be used after any other awakening - in the middle of the night for example, or better yet, during a midday nap. What's most important is to establish the clear intention of trying them before falling asleep.
43
Despite the simplicity of these techniques, novices stubbornly deviate from the clear instructions, following them in their own way or only half-way. Remember what's most important beforehand: the more carefully and literally you follow the instructions in this book, the better your chances for success. Ninety percent will obtain results within one to three awakenings if they do everything correctly from the beginning. beginning.
Breathing Techniques
There are plenty of ways to find calm without investing in a 90-minute massage. Turns out all you need is a pair p air of healthy lungs, your breath, and 10 minutes or less. Here are six expert-approved ways to relax using breathing techniques borrowed from yoga, meditation, meditation, and even the therapist’s chair.
1.The 4 7 8 Breathing Technique It has five easy steps: 1.
Place the tip of your tongue on the roof of your mouth, right behind your front teeth.
2.
Breathe in through your nose for a count of 4.
3.
Hold your breath for a count of 7.
4.
Release your breath from your mouth with a whooshing sound for a count of 8.
5.
Without a break, breathe in again for a count of 4, repeating the entire technique 3-4 times in a row, then resume normal breathing and activity.
If you use a second hand on a watch to count your breaths, the whole exercise will take just 57 seconds! But it doesn’t really matter if each count lasts an actual second; it only matters that you count evenly so the ratio of 4-7-8 is maintained.
44
You may find yourself feeling mildly light-headed light- headed after doing this. That’s actually a sign it is working, and it will quickly pass. Feel free to do this as often as you want, but you may need to get used to it first. Many people find that this breathing technique immediately ends an anxiety or panic attack.
2.Equal Breathing How it’s done: Balance can do a body good, beginning with the breath. To start, inhale for a count of four, then exhale for a count of four (all through the nose, which adds a natural resistance to the breath). Got the basic pranayama down? More advanced yogis can aim for for six to eight counts per breath with the same same goal goal in mind: mind: Calm the nervous system, increase focus, and r educe stress, Pacheco says. When it works best: Anytime, anyplace —but this is one technique that’s that’ s especially effective before bed. “Similar to counting sheep, if you’re having trouble falling asleep, this breath can help take your mind off the racing thoughts, or whatever might be distracting you," Pacheco says.
3.Abdominal 3.Abdominal Breathing Technique How it’s it’s done: With one hand on the chest and the other on the belly, take a deep breath in through the nose, ensuring the diaphragm (not the chest) inflates with enough air to create a stretch in the lungs. The goal: Six to 10 deep, slow breaths per minute for 10 minutes each day to experience immediate reductions to heart rate and blood pressure , McConnell says. Keep at it for six to eight weeks, and those benefits might stick around even longer. When it works best: Before an exam or any stressful event. But keep in mind, “Those who operate in a stressed state all the time might be a little shocked how hard it is to control the breath,” Pacheco says.
4.Progressive 4.Progressive Relaxation How it’s done: To nix tension from head to toe, close the eyes and focus on tensing and relaxing each muscle group for two to three seconds seconds each. Start with the feet feet and toes, then move up to the knees, thighs, glutes, chest, arms, hands, neck, jaw, and eyes— eyes—all while maintaining deep, slow breaths. Having trouble staying on track? Anxiety and panic specialist Dr. Patricia Farrell suggests we breathe in through t he
45
nose, hold for a count of five while the muscles tense, then breathe out through the mouth on release. When it works best: At home, at a desk, or even on the road. One word of caution: Dizziness is never the goal. If holding the breath ever feels uncomfortable, uncomfortable, tone it down to just a few seconds.
5.Alternate Nostril Breathing How it’s done: A yogi’s best friend, this breath is said to bring calm, balance, and unite the right and left sides of the brain. Starting in a comfortable meditative pose, hold the right thumb over the right nostril and inhale deeply through the left nostril. At the peak of inhalation, inhala tion, close off the left nostril with the ring finger, then exhale through the right nostril. Continue the pattern, inhaling through the right nostril, closing it off with the right thumb, and exhaling through the left nostril. When it works best: Crunch Cr unch time, or whenever it’s time to focus or energize. Just don’t try this one before bed : Nadi shodhana is said to “clear the channels” and make people feel more awake. “It’s almost like a cup of coffee,” Pacheco says.
6. Guided Visualization How it’s done: done: Head straight for your happy place, no questions asked. With a coach, coach , therapist, or helpful recording as your guide, breathe deeply while focusing on pleasant, positive images to replace any negative thoughts. Psychologist Dr. Ellen Langer explains that while it’s just one means of achieving mindfulness, “Guided visualization helps puts you in the place p lace you want to be, rather than tha n letting your mind go to the internal dialogue that is stressful.” When it works best: Pretty much any place pla ce you can safely close your eyes and a nd let go (e.g. not at the wheel of a car).
7.Skull Shining Breath How it’s done: Ready to brighten up your day from the inside out? This one begins with a long, slow inhale, followed by a quick, powerful exhale generated from the lower belly. Once comfortable with the contraction, up the pace to one inhale (a ll through the nose) every one to two seconds, for a total of 10 breaths. exhale (all When it works best: When it’s time to wake up or start looking on the bright side. “It’s pretty abdomin a bdominal al--intensive,” Pacheco says, “but “but it will warm w arm up the body, shake
46
off stale energy, and wake up the brain .” If alternate nostril breathing is like coffee, consider consider this a shot of espresso, she says. Also, make sure you check out this little 10 second stress relief tactic!
How to Meditate
If you are attempting Astral Projection and have a difficult time trying to relax ,you should consider meditation . The goal of meditation is to focus and quiet your mind, eventually reaching a higher level of awareness and inner calm. It may come as a surprise to learn that you can ca n meditate anywhere and at any time, allowing yourself to access a sense of tranquility and peace no matter what's going on around you. This article will introduce you to the basics of meditation, enabling you to begin your journey on the path of enlightenment enlightenment and bliss. Meditation is a journey, akin to climbing a mountain, where every step along t he path of enlightenment brings you closer to the summit. su mmit. When starting off, you shouldn't be too concerned with the quality of the meditation itself. As long as you y ou feel calmer, happier and more at peace at the end of your practice, you will know that your meditation was successful.
Preparing to Meditate 1.Choose a peaceful environment. Meditation should be practiced somewhere calming and peaceful. This will enable you to focus exclusively on the task at hand and avoid bombarding your mind with outside stimuli. Try to find a place where you will not be interrupted for the duration of your meditation - whether it lasts five minutes or half an hour. The space does not need to be very large - a walk-in closet or even your office can be used for meditation, as long as it's somewhere private.
For those new to meditation, it's especially important to avoid any external distractions. Turn off TV sets, the phone or other noisy appliances. If you play music, choose calm, repetitive and gentle tunes, so as not to break your concentration. Another option is to turn on a small water fountain - the sound of running water can be extremely calming.
47
Understand that the meditation space does not need to be completely silent, so there should be no need to reach for the earplugs. The sound of a lawnmower la wnmower running or the dog barking next door shouldn't prevent effective meditation. In fact, being aware of these noises but not letting them dominate your thoughts is an important component of successful meditation. m editation. Meditating outside works for many meditators. As long as you don't sit near a busy roadway or another source of loud noise, you can find peace under a tree or sitting upon some lush grass in a favorite corner of the garden. 2.Wear comfortable clothes. One of the major goals of meditation is to calm the mind and block out external factors. This can be difficult if you feel physically uncomfortable due to tight or restrictive clothing. Try to wear loose clothing during meditation practice and make sure to remove your you r shoes.
Wear a sweater or cardigan if you plan on meditating someplace cool. If you don't, the sensation of being cold will consume your thoughts and you will be tempted to cut your practice short. If you are in the office, or somewhere that you can't easily change your clothes, do your best to make yourself as comfortable as possible. Take off your shoes and jacket, open open the collar of your your shirt or blouse and remove your belt. belt. 3.Decide how long you want to meditate. Before you begin, you should decide how long you are going to meditate. While many seasoned meditators recommend twenty minute sessions twice a day, beginners can start out doing as little as five minutes, once a day.
You should also try to meditate at the same time each day - whether w hether it's 15 minutes first thing in the morning, or five minutes on your lunch hour. Whatever time you choose, try to make meditation an unshakable unsha kable part of your daily routine. Once you have decided on a time frame, try to stick to it. Don't just give up because you feel like it isn't i sn't working - it will take time and a nd practice to achieve a chieve successful meditation - right now, the most important thing is to keep trying. Although you will want wa nt to keep track of your meditation time, it is not beneficial to be constantly checking your watch. Think about setting a gentle alarm to alert you when your practice is up, or time your practice to end with a certain event - such as your partner getting getting out of bed, bed, or the sun sun hitting a certain spot on the wall.
48
4.Stretch out. Meditation involves sitting in one spot for a certain period of time, so it is important to minimize any tension or tightness before you begin. Doing a couple of minutes of light stretching can really help to loosen you up and prepare both your body and mind for meditation. It will also prevent you from focusing on any sore spots instead of relaxing your mind.
Remember to stretch your neck and shoulders, especially if you've been sitting in front of a computer, and don't forget your lower back. Stretching out your legs, particularly those on the inner thigh, can be helpful when meditating in the lotus position. More information on specific stretching techniques can be found here. 5.Sit in a comfortable position. As stated above, it is very important that you are comfortable while you meditate, which is why finding the best position for you is essential. Traditionally, meditation is practiced by sitting on a cushion on th e ground, in a lotus, or half-lotus position. Unless your legs, hips, and low back are very flexible, lotus postures tend to bow your low back and prevent you from balancing your torso around your spine. Choose a posture that allows you to be balanced tall and a nd straight.
However, you can also sit without crossing your legs, on a cushion, chair, or meditation bench. Your pelvis needs to be tilted forwards enough for your spine to be centered over the two bony bits in your butt, the spots that bear your w eight. To tilt your pelvis into the right position, p osition, sit on the forward edge of a thick th ick cushion, or place something about 3 or 4 inches (7.6 or 10.2 cm) thick under the back legs of a chair. Meditation benches are usually built with a tilted seat. If not, put something under it to tilt it forward between a half inch and an inch. The most important thing is that you are comfortable, relaxed, and your torso is balanced so that your spine supports all of your weight from the waist up. Tilt your pelvis forward. Then, starting from your bottom, stack up the vertebrae in your spine, so that they are balanced one on top t op of another and support the whole weight of your torso, neck, and head. It requires practice to find the position that allows you to relax your y our whole torso almost completely, only slight effort being used to maintain your balance. Whenever you feel tension, relax the area. If you can't relax it without slumping, check the alignment of your posture and seek to re-balance your torso so that area can relax.
49
The traditional hand placement involves resting your hands in your lap, lap , palms facing upward, with your right hand on top of your left. However, your can also just rest your hands on your knees or leave them hanging down by your side - whichever you prefer. 6.Close your eyes. Meditation can be performed with the eyes open or closed, however as a beginner it may be best to first try meditating with your eyes closed. This will block out any external visual stimulation and prevent you from becoming distracted as you focus on calming your mind.
Once you have grown accustomed to meditation, you can try practicing with y our eyes open. This can be helpful if you find you are either falling asleep or concentrating too hard with your eyes closed, or if you are experiencing disturbing mental images (which happens to a small proportion of people). When your keep your eyes open, you will need to keep them "soft" - that is, not focused on anything in particular. However, you don't want to go into a trance-like state either - the goal is to feel relaxed but alert. Make sure you check the ebook - Power of Meditation and listen to the Introduction to Meditation file. It is very powerful and insightful.
Meditation Practices
1.Follow your breathing breathing.. The most basic and a nd universal of all meditation techniques, breathing meditation is a great place to start your practice. Pick a spot above your navel and focus on that spot with your mind. Become aware of the rising and falling of your abdomen as you breathe in and out. Don't make a conscious effort to change your breathing breathing patterns, just breathe breathe normally.
Try to focus on your breathing and only your breathing. Don't think about your breathing or pass any sort of judgment of it (e.g. that breath was shorter than the last one), just attempt to know it and be aware awa re of it. Some mental images which might help you include: imagining a coin sitting on the spot above your navel, rising and falling with your breath; imagining a buoy floating in the
50
ocean, bobbing up and down with the swell and lull of your breathing; or imagining a lotus flower sitting in your belly, unfurling its petals with every intake of breath. Don't worry if your mind starts to wander - you are a beginner and, like anything, becoming good at meditation takes practice. Just make an effort to refocus your mind on your breathing and try to think of nothing else. Drown out the chatter and attempt to clear your mind. 2.Clear your mind. To meditate, you must focus on one thing maximum
If you're a beginner, it might help to focus on one thing, like a mantra or visual object. More advanced meditators may try to clear their minds completely. 3.Repeat a mantra. Mantra meditation is another common form of meditation, which involves repeating a mantra (a sound, word or phrase) over and over, until you silence the mind and enter a deep meditative state. The mantra can be anything you choose, as long as it is easy to remember.
Some good mantras to start out with include words like one, peace, calm, tranquil, and silence. If you want to use more traditional mantras, you can use the word "Om" which symbolizes omnipresent consciousness, or the phrase "Sat, Chit, Ananda" which means "Existence, Consciousness, Bliss". In Sanskrit, the word mantra means "instrument of the mind". The mantra is an instrument which creates vibrations in the mind, allowing you to disconnect from your thoughts and enter a deeper state of consciousness. Silently repeat the mantra over and over to yourself as you meditate, allowing the word or phrase to whisper through your mind. Don't worry w orry if your mind wanders off, just refocus your attention and return to repeating repeating the word. As you enter a deeper level of awareness and consciousness, it may become unnecessary to continue repeating the mantra. 4.Concentrate on a simple visual object. In a similar way to using a mantra, you can use a simple visual object to fill your mind and allow you to reach a level of deeper consciousness. consciousn ess. This is a form of open-eye meditation, which many people find easier when they have something to focus their gaze on.
51
The visual object can be anything you wish, though many people find the flame of a lit candle particularly pleasant. p leasant. Other possible objects include crystals, crystals, flowers, and pictures or statues of divine beings, such as the Buddha. Place the object at eye level, so you don't need to strain your head and neck to view it. Gaze at it and nothing else, until your peripheral vision starts to dim and the object consumes your vision. Once you are focused entirely on the object, with no other stimuli reaching your brain, you should feel a sense of profound serenity. 5.Practice visualizatio visualizationn. Visualization is another popular meditation technique, which involves creating a peaceful place in your mind and exploring it, until you reach a state of complete calm. The place pl ace can be anywhere you like - however, it should not be entirely real, it should be unique and personalized for you.
The place you visualize could be a warm, wa rm, sandy beach, beach, a flower-filled meadow, a quiet qu iet forest or even a comfortable sitting room with a roaring fire. Whatever place you choose, allow it to be your sanctuary. Once you have entered your sanctuary, allow yourself to explore. There's no n o need to "create" your surroundings, they are already there. Allow them to come to the forefront of your mind. Take in the sights, sounds and scents of your surroundings - feel the fresh breeze against your face, or the heat of the th e flames warming your body. Enjoy the space for as long as you wish, w ish, allowing it to naturally expand expa nd and become more tangible. When you are ready to leave, take a few deep deep breaths, then open your eyes. Know that you can come back to this same place the next time you meditate to visualization, or you can simply create a new space. Any space you create will be unique to you and a reflection of your individual personality. 6.Do a body scan. Doing a body scan involves focusing on each individual body part in turn and consciously relaxing it. It is a simple meditation technique which allows you to relax the mind as you relax the body.
Close your eyes and pick a starting point on your body, usually the toes. Concentrate on whatever sensations you can feel in your toes, and make a conscious effort to relax any contracted muscles and release any tension or tightness. Once the toes are fully relaxed, move on to your feet and repeat the th e relaxation process. process.
52
Continue along your body, moving upwards from your feet to your calves, knees, thighs, buttocks, hips, abdomen, chest, back, shoulders, should ers, arms, hands, fingers, neck, face, ears and top of your head. Take as long as you want. wa nt. Once you have completed the relaxation of each individual body part, focus on your body as a whole and enjoy the sensation of calmness and looseness you have achieved. Focus on your breathing for several minutes before coming out of your meditation practice. 7.Try heart chakra meditation. The heart chakra is one of seven chakras, or energy centers, located within the body. The heart chakra is located in the center of the chest and is associated with love, compassion, peace and acceptance. Heart chakra meditation involves getting in touch with these feelings and sending them out into the world.
To begin, close your eyes and rub the palms of your hands h ands together to create warmth and energy. Then, place your right hand on the th e center of your chest, over your heart chakra, and place the left hand on top. Take a deep breath and as you exhale, say the word "yam", which is the vibration associated with the heart chakra. As you do this, imagine a glowing green energy radiating from your chest and into your palms. This green energy is love, life and whatever wha tever other positive emotions emotions you are feeling at that moment. When you are ready, take your hands from your chest and a nd allow the energy to escape from your palms, sending your love to your loved ones and the world. Feel your body from the inside. Can you feel the energy field in your body, especially in your arms and legs? If you don't feel it, it's fine. But think: How are we able to move different parts of the body? It's the energy field that flows in our body. Focusing your attention on that energy field will not only help you stay in the present but also will help you connect with your Being and flow of life in you. 8.Try walking meditation. Wa Walking lking meditation is alternate form form of meditation which involves observing the movement of the feet and becoming aware of your body's connection to the earth. If you plan on performing p erforming long, seated meditation sessions, it is a good idea to break them up up with some walking meditation.
Choose a quiet location to practice your walking w alking meditation, with as few distractions as possible. The space doesn't need to be very large, but you should be able to walk
53
at least seven paces in a straight line before needing to turn around. Remove your shoes, if possible. Holding your head up with your gaze directed straight ahead, and your hands clasped together in front of you. Take a slow, deliberate step with your right foot. Forget about any sensations or feelings in the foot and try to concentrate on the movement itself. After taking the first step, stop for a moment before taking the next. Only one foot should be moving at any given time. When you reach the end of your walking path, stop completely, with your feet together. Then, pivot on the right foot and turn around. Continue walking in the opposite direction, using the same slow, deliberate movements as before. While practicing walking meditation, try to focus on the movement of the feet and nothing else, in the same way that you focus on the rising and falling of your breath breat h during breathing meditation. Try to clear your mind and become aware of the connection between between your foot and the earth below. Have a listen to our guided meditation example.
Exploring The Astral Plane 1.Confirm that you are projecting your soul from your body. Once you have mastered the act of projecting your soul from your body in the same room, you will want to confirm that you were w ere indeed in two separate planes.
Next time you practice the astral projection, p rojection, don't turn around to look at your body. Instead, leave the room and walk wa lk into another room in the house. Examine an object in the other room, something that you had never noticed before in the physical sense. Make a mental note of its color, shape and a nd size, paying attention to as many details as possible. Return to your body . Physically go into the room r oom you previously projected yourself into. Walk to the article you examined during the astral travel. Can you confirm the details you noted when you explored ex plored the object with your mind?
54
2.Explore further. During subsequent astral projection sessions, go to locations that are less and less familiar to t o you. Each time, note details that you had ha d never noticed noticed before. After each session, physically verify the details. After a few trips, you will be experienced enough enough to travel to locations that are completely unfamiliar with the confidence confiden ce that you have actually performed astral projection. 3.Return to your body . Some say that astral projection is dangerous, especially when one gets enough practice to explore unfamiliar places but it need not be. Those people simply don't understand it or fear it because they don't use enough protection, as long as you ask for protection in your own way it'll be a good experience. Before you astral project it is nice to imagine yourself bathed in a glowing, white light. Imagine it as a cloud around you or inside you; this willprotect you from other thought forms or negative energy forms.
The thrill of having an OBE keeps some people out of their bodies for long periods of time, which is said to weaken the silver cord but the silver cord cannot be weakened. It is pure energy and energy can't be eliminated or removed, only moved from one place to another, or one form or another so don't worry about astral travelling; it is natural, powerful p owerful and healing. The silver cord can never be broken, but it is said that your soul can be delayed from re-entering re-enteri ng your body if you spend too t oo much energy outside of it. Yet your soul and a nd body are so intrinsically entwined that the soul will naturally come back when it's right to.
Your soul can also interact with other astral projections. Try it with a friend who has practiced as much as you have. Some say astral sex is mind blowing. However, remember to always return to your body. It is possible to heal others during astral travel; this is a form of distance healing that is very powerful. pow erful. Envision the sick person, perhaps lying in their bed. It doesn't d oesn't matter if they're not physically in their bed while you're doing it because time and distance becomes void when you're in the astral plane. Always ask for protection, healing power and guidance from whoever you pray to and envision light; you can ask as k during astral projection as and when you wish. See light in your hands as white and strong as you can, and if you feel ready put one hand on their forehead and another on their abdomen and pour the light into them. Your Y our intentions must be pure and you should be feeling nothing but love for them. Sometimes people will report back to you that something amazing has happened to them, even though though you didn't tell them you were the source of it! Enjoy your astral journeys!

Interesting Facts
Indirect techniques are mainly to thank for our 80% success rate over only 2 days of attempts at three-day seminars, even in groups of 50 people and more. Once, more than half of the group had a OBE experience by the second day, and most had two or more experiences. exp eriences. Sensations in the OBE state can be so realistic that practitioners practitioners who w ho unintentionally enter it often believe they are still in the physical body, and that the experience is occurring in the waking state. These types of unintended excursions most often occur at night or early in the morning. If one believes that it is necessary ne cessary to position one’s bed with the th e headboard facing the northwest or some other direction in order to have more effective out-of-body experiences, then then doing so will invariably have ha ve a positive effect on results. However, the issue at hand is not the positioning of the body, but a belief that is akin to an intention, intention, which in turn is enormously important. Often, people have an out-of-body experience without prior knowledge or belief in the phenomenon. It just happens, and a large body of evidence has been gathered to support this fact. Even more interesting interesting is that tha t spontaneous experiences often occur after a brief study of material about the topic, like this app in particular. :) Many experienced practitioners practitioners prefer to bypass byp ass the effort associated with direct d irect techniques and hone their skills through the sole use of indirect techniques. Relatively often, a practitioner will try to employ separation techniques to no effect. However, he will later unexpectedly understand that he had been lying in a different position than he sensed that he was in, and in fact, it had only been necessary for him to stand up. This happens mostly among beginners and is indicative of an incorrect understanding of separation techniques. t echniques. Approximately 1% to 3% of the time that the OBE is practiced, one realizes immediately upon awakening that one has already separated. This means that one
56
may already go somewhere and stand, lie down, sit down, etc. This is not however becoming conscious conscious in a dream, but an actual actua l awakening. There exists a belief that the phenomenon of out-of-body travel is practically unattainable, and is accessible only to an elect few through practices that require secret knowledge. However, the greatest difficulty when trying to experience outof-body travel in a short period of time t ime lies only in immediately remembering about the techniques upon awakening without moving. This is all simple and straightforward. But it is precisely this trifle that is the largest stumbling block when trying to experience such an uncommon phenomenon. There are known incidences of practitioners “programming” food and water to induce OBE entrance. They are essentially employing both auto-suggestion and the placebo effect by programming their subconscious mind to perceive that food as bringing not only satiation, but also a high probability of entering the OBE. Up to 20% of sensations and actions that tha t happen upon awakening are not real as they seem, but are phantom. For some practitioners having trouble reaching the OBE, one motivation for separating without using any techniques is an unwillingness to “bang their heads against techniques” any further. This forces them to catch the right moment of awakening much earlier on and push themselves much harder ha rder during it. The result is that they are practically always able a ble to achieve the OBE upon that first step. Sometimes, the first technique that works for a practitioner never results in a repeat of OBE entrance again, although other techniques that were not immediately effective at the novice stages of practice later begin to work regularly and successfully. Correctly using forced falling asleep in conjunction with indirect techniques can realistically bring odds of success to near 100 percent. That this, practically all attempts to exit the body upon u pon awakening can become successful. At an experimental seminar held August 21-23, 2009 in Dnepropetrovsk (Ukraine), 40 participants were asked to perform mandatory cycles of all the indirect techniques together with the technique of forced falling asleep. The success rate for the whole group reached 75% after only two nights, not counting those participants who made no attempts at all. This was wa s the most successful seminar into
57
2011, and the system first tested out there took on the name "The Dnepropetrovsk Method”. Many approach direct techniques as if digging a ditch: the more - the faster and the better. The result: dozens of attempts that tha t yield no fruit. It does not matter which direct technique is used; as long as it leads to lapses in consciousness, consciousness, success is i s possible. Even if a practitioner pays no heed to the techniques for becoming conscious while dreaming, but applies direct or indirect techniques, on average each third OBE will still occur through becoming conscious in a dream. This has been statistically proven. Fear is often specific in OBE and depends on the t he practitioner's current life situation. For example, young mothers often begin to fear entering OBE just as they're entering it out of a sense that they would risk leaving their children behind. It often worry that they simply might not return or undergo an unsafe situation. situa tion. If a practitioner concentrates on the physical sensations associated with passing through a wall, it is possible to get stuck. A practitioner may even experience the feeling of obstructed breathing when this happens. happ ens. People appear in human form while in OBE only because they are accustomed to it from everyday life. Actually, you can feel every fine detail while inhabiting any body or any thing, as there is no personal “body” as such in OBE. After having changed place of residence, the practitioner will very often continue for some time to separate from the body in the same house where he was used to doing this previously. In bright rooms, wearing a sleeping mask over the eyes can double the success rate of attempts, and also help one to enter a much deeper and longer OBE.
Typical Mistakes
Typical mistakes when performing indirect techniques include:
58
- Lack of an attempt to separate Forgetting Forgetting to simply try to separate immediately after awakening before cycling techniques, even though this may lead to up to 50% of all experiences.
Exception: awakening to movement, after which one may immediately proceed to the techniques. - Lack of aggression
A desire to get a technique to work w ork no matter what and really get into it is the main criterion for success in employing the indirect technique procedure. Meanwhile, determination should not be superficial, but intensely focused on the actions to be completed. Lack of determination can also manifest itself in passively falling asleep during an attempt. - Fewer than 4 cycles
No matter what happens happ ens and no matter what thoughts occur, you should perform no less than 4 cycles of techniques, assuming none have worked so far. Not following this simple rule will scuttle more than half of your opportunities to enter OBE. - Unnecessary Change of Technique
Despite the clear instructions given, novices will stubbornly switch techniques after 3 to 5 seconds, even when a technique has started working in one way or another. This is a serious error. If a technique has started working - however so slightly - you need to keep with it and try to intensify it in any way possible. p ossible. - Unnecessary Continuation of a Technique If a technique hasn't begun working in the least after 3 to 5 seconds, it should be changed cha nged for another. The point of cycling is to quickly alternate between techniques until one of them starts working. - Forgetting to Separate
When any technique starts working upon awakening - no matter ma tter to what degree - the practitioner is nearly always already in OBE, and is simply lying on his body while in it. That's why you should always try to separate immediately upon there being stable signs that a technique is working. If that doesn't work out, then you need to return to intensifying the technique and try to separate again. If you don't use the first seconds of a technique working, then OBE usually ends quite quickly and the necessary state goes away. Don't lie in your body while in OBE!
59
- Excessive Analysis
If you analyze what's going on when cycling through techniques upon awakening, then you are not concentrated on the techniques themselves and are sidetracking yourself. This will cause you to miss nearly all chances of obtaining results. The desire to experience the technique working should fully consume you, leaving leav ing no place in the mind for analysis or contemplation. - Excessively Alert Awakening (no Attempt or a Sluggish One)
Due to the perception of an excessively alert awakening (which will be not actually be alert, but only seem to be from 70 to 90% of the time) the practitioner will either forgo trying anything, or will make attempts quite unassuredly, which is equivalent to not trying at all. You ought to follow the instructions automatically, and not pay attention to such perceptions upon awakening. - Attempting for Longer than a Minute
If no result is obtained after one minute of cycling, then your odds of success will be much greater if you go back to sleep right away awa y and catch the next awakening aw akening in order to make a new attempt, as opposed to stubbornly trying to continue on with the techniques. - Incomplete Separation
When attempting to separate, sometimes it doesn't come easily or completely. Sluggishness, stuck body parts, and being stuck in two bodies at once are some things that may occur. Neve give up under any circumstances circumstances and do not stop separating if this happens. Full separation will occur if you counteract such problems with all your strength. - Not Recognizing OBE
Practitioners often enter OBE but then return back to the body because they feel that what occurred is not what they had expected. For example, when observing images they are often pulled into the scenery, or they are spontaneously thrown into another world when rotating. Practitioners often think that they have to experience the feeling of separation itself, which is why they might return back to their bodies in order to obtain it. The same applies app lies to becoming conscious conscious while dreaming, as the practitioner is already in OBE and it only remains to deepen and implement his plan of action.
60
- Awakening to Movement (no Attempt or a Sluggish S luggish One) Awakening without moving is desirable, but not mandatory. There's no sense in forgoing most opportunities by waiting for the right awakening. You must take advantage of every awakening that you can. - Wasting the First Seconds
Try to develop the habit of immediately and reflexively proceeding to the techniques upon awakening, without losing a second. The more time that elapses between awakening and the attempt itself, the lower the odds of success. It's best to learn to catch not so much the very second of awakening, but rather the transitional moment when “surfacing” from sleep. Separation is almost always successful during that transitional moment. - Selection of Same-Type Techniques
There's no point in selecting techniques for your practice that are similar to one another or focused on the same sensation. - Use of a Single Technique
Cycling indirect techniques upon awakening is a universal method that can work for anybody provided they alternate several techniques. Completely different methods may work over different attempts. That's why using only a single technique upon awakening instead of cycling through at least two leads to s ubstantially lowered odds of entering OBE. - False Physical Movement Movement
Sometimes separation is so indistinguishable from ordinary physical movement that novices are unable to believe their own success. They perceive separation as a physical movement and then disappointedly lie back down into their body. In such cases, one ought to carefully evaluate the situation and possibly perform reality checks.

What is Crystal Healing?
Crystal Therapy is considered as the prehistoric art of laying-on-ofstones. Stones, crystals and gems are laid on the body over the chakra points. Every chakra resonates to a certain color and the chakras align and mix with one another. The main principle behind the need for crystal healing is that diseases take place when there is inequality between divine energy and a person. This light or divine energy is believed by most healers as a s the main groundwork of universal creation. Everyone is a little bit confused on how crystal works and how it heals. You Y ou will now learn what crystal healing is and how it can ca n boost your health. Crystal healing is a typical form of treatment that uses gemstones or crystals. The crystals are often placed on a certain area of the body called “chakras”.
Chakra is a Hindu word, which means spiritual energy. According to various researches, there are seven fundamental energy centers in the human body. Some healers place identical color crystals as the color of the chakras on the individual to develop the flow of energy. Crystals direct the energy flow to the person and bring balance to their energy. Generally, they are used to purify the person from negative or bad energy that is believed to cause severe disease. Eliminating the bad spiritual sp iritual energy reduces the severity of the physical ailment. These crystals are also used for mental, physical, spiritual and emotional healing. However, not only crystal healers have the power to help other people. In fact, even professional nurses are being educated to use crystals for their patients.
Healing with Crystals Treating your body with crystals can be performed in multiple ways. You can get their fullest benefits through holding them when you are very ill or carrying them in your pocket. This type of healing can balance and heal your entire body. The practitioner will put specific crystals on your body chakras to draw out undesired energies and infuse the body with earth energy and universal healing. Some spiritual sp iritual counselors and massage therapists work with crystals and have the ability to teach you how this kind kind of healing works. works.
62
Since stones and crystals vibrate and emit pure, pu re, strong vibrations at constant rates, they can be used to help eliminate distortions and restore proper balance within ourselves, leading to better overall physical, mental and spiritual well w ell being. A person with the power of astral vision can perceive the capacity of mineral substances, and crystalline substances in particular, to receive and hold h old impressions that can be scanned with delicate accuracy by the sensitive psychometrist or dowser; or which may affect many other people without their being aware of the forces involved. A conscious or unconscious perception of this kind may well have been the prelude to the invention of the quartz chip, whose imprinted message is accessible to anyone with the necessary technological equipment. In one sense, furthermore, furthermore, the natural properties of the mineral inevitably are the prelude p relude to the technological innovation innovation,, since, from level to level l evel of being, the psychic matrix of the mineral varies only in its modes of expression. Binaural Beats
Binaural beats provide potential consciousness-altering information to the brain’s reticular activating system. The reticular activating system in turn interprets and reacts to this information by stimulating the thalamus and cortex thereby altering arousal states, attentional focus, and the level of awareness, i.e., the elements of consciousness itself. This effective binaural-beat process offers a wide variety of beneficial applications and vehicle for the exploration of expanded states of consciousness.
63
Binaural beats are auditory brainstem responses, which originate in the superior olivary nucleus of each hemisphere. They result from the interaction of 2 different auditory impulses, originating in opposite ears, below 1000 Hz and which differ in frequency between one one and 30 Hz (Oster, 1973). for instance, if a pure tone of 400 Hz is presented to the right ear and a pure p ure tone of 410 Hz is presented at the same time to the left ear, an amplitude modulated standing wave of 10 Hz, the difference between the two tones, is experienced as the two wave forms mesh in and out of phase within the superior olivary nuclei. This binaural beat is not heard in the ordinary sense of the word (the human range of hearing is from 20-20,000 Hz). It's perceived as an auditory beat and theoretically may be used to entrain specific neural rhythms through the frequencyfollowing response (FFR)--the tendency for cortical potentials to entrain to or resonate at the frequency of an external stimulus. Thus, it's theoretically possible to use a particular binaural-beat frequency as a conscious consciousness ness management technique to entrain a particular cortical rhythm. WARNING: Certain individuals may experience mood changes, get dizzy, twitches, WARNING: hallucinations, drowsiness, inattention and additional health effects. If you experience any of these symptoms, IMMEDIATELY discontinue and consult your doctor. Applying Binaural Beats for Relaxation & Meditation
Binaural beats result from hearing 2 dissimilar frequencies in each ear so headphones are required. If you hear two different frequencies in each ear, you'll hear the difference between two as a binaural beat. Listening to binaural beats may increase particular brainwave frequencies. Our brain mimics the frequencies we hear in the beat. If you wish to better your alpha brainwaves, listen to a binaural beat in the alpha range. This is called entrainment or frequency-following response. If you wish to relax, practice stress reduction, learn to meditate, or evoke the Relaxation Response download and listen to some of these binaural beat MP3 files. T There here are various ones that use different frequencies and patterns. Most have descriptions you can utilize to help decide which one(s) to use. Due to high demand we decided to add a dd more files, that are free to use because they are all over youtube. We also decided to keep the old binaural beats files to give
64
an example of every single frequency so you can compare or use it as a reference in the future if you so wish. You can find all the t he Audio files in the " Audio" tab. You might find these binaural beat files helpful while learning how to meditate. Utilize them to get started but after awhile you might discover that you don't need them any longer, that you've outgrown them. Or you might find them of use on a more regular basis. The only way to learn is to try them yourself and determine what works best for you. Beta brainwaves (13-40 Hz) are associated with active thinkingand concentration. Alpha brainwaves (7-13 Hz) are associated with relaxation and/or drowsiness. Theta brainwaves (4-7 Hz) are associated with dreams, meditation, and REM sleep.
Benefits of Binaural Tones Some marketers insist that the advantages are far-reaching enough to impact on almost every area of your life - health, happiness, personality, and even intelligence! So... how do you cut through the marketing hype hype?? This section is designed to be a no-hype look at the exceptional advantages that are available from utilizing isochoric and binaural tones. t ones. Here's what I've found: Well Being
Among the most noticeable advantages of binaural tones is the impact on your y our sense of self and well-being. Users report feeling positive and happy after each 20-30 minute session, and self-regard and motivation go up too. When you utilize binaural beats, you'll likely experience powerful positive emotions and feelings including excitement, peace, happiness, euphoria & delight. These happen without any true effort on your part, and tend to alternate with each session. You'll definitely "feel better" after every session. A lot of users also
65
report that others (strangers, friends and colleagues) tend to respond in a friendlier way after utilizing binaural tones. If you trust that "you attract into your life what you put out", then you'll be pleased to know that you'll definitely be sending "better vibes" after every session. Individuals will just "know" that you're in a positive, resourceful mood, and will respond accordingly. Relaxation
A different key benefit of binaural tones is the effect on your peacefulness. Not only will you feel deeply relaxed when w hen utilizing the technology, but afterwards you'll feel calm, peaceful and content. This is most likely to do with the fact that
you're presenting presenting your brain a well-deserved break and effectively effectively sending sending it to sleep awhile. The effects are really similar to those reported by meditators. Clinical studies have found that binaural beats help to diminish mild anxiety too, and increase alertness and focus. Effects on the Body
Many scientific and clinical trials have been carried out into the advantages of binaural tones on the body. These studies provide some of the most powerful proof that tha t brainwave entrainment entrainment (BWE) truly works. For a start, when you utilize binaural beats or meditation machines your endorphin release goes up, as does the production of serotonin. These are the "happy hormones" that your body releases when you work out at the gym, have fun with friends, have sex, or fall in love. Needless to say, this feels quite nice! Another of the advantages of binaural beats is that your body will intensify its catecholamine production (a hormone powerfully associated with bettered bett ered memory). Another of the advantages of binaural tones on the body is an increase in DHEA. This hormone comes from the adrenal glands also, but this is a "good hormone". Scientists say that DHEA is utilized as a "source ingredient" for
66
virtually every hormone the body needs, and is reported to reduce the impact of disease and ageing. In addition, a high level of DHEA is likely to result r esult in a vibrant and healthy body, and a potent immune system. A study has shown that utilizing binaural beats increases your DHEA production levels by an average of 47% (although this particular test admittedly utilized a small sample group). Finally, utilizing the same small control group, users of binaural beats for just four days saw an average 98% increase in melatonin production. Melatonin is the chemical your body makes when you go into a deep, natural sleep. As such, one of the key benefits of binaural tones is that you'll sleep much better and feel more rested after utilizing them. Intelligence
Studies have been executed into the effects of binaural tones on intelligence and the brain. Several different trials have demonstrated that the advantages of binaural tones include expanded memory, increases in IQ, bettered ability to learn and recall r ecall words from a second language, expanded levels of creativity, and bettered Brainwave Synchronization. I'm not going to suggest that binaural beats turn you into a genius overnight, but with practice and an open mind, I'd be surprised surpr ised if you didn't think that "more was staying in" that old brain of yours. the house without leaving the house and going to work in a more tranquil place. Since that commonly isn't feasible, it's necessary to tune the noise out and divert all attention to what they'reworking on. Ambient noises block out other thoughts:
Those ambient noises might be able to block out thoughts about other things like the things individuals need to do, the schoolwork, reading, household and other chores. Ambient noise may also block out the sound of individuals talking talking which can often be a major source of distraction. When surrounded by ambient sounds, it might be easy to block those sounds out, particularly when those sounds s ounds are the sounds of everyday life as it goes on all-round us.

common benefits that nature sounds might offer: o ffer: - Uniform sounds, like rain or waterfalls, act like a "white noise machine" that
masks household noises like refrigerators, heaters, and creaking floors. These types of sounds frequently help light sleepers and infants sleep better.
73
- The sound of unvarying, rhythmic ocean waves provides a sensation of relaxation and calm. The hypnotic consistency of waves may likewise help to lull you to sleep. - Creeks, particularly a slow babbling type creek, is a warm wa rm comforting sound. The

Beliefs play the largest part in Astral Projection. If you believe that you are going to be possessed, you may feel like you are possessed. possessed. If you feel like your "silver-cord" is "weak" and that you can't return, you will feel stuck. Feelings and thoughts are instantly manifested in the Astral Plane, anything you think/fear think/fear can seem to happen. Keep your thoughts positive. Don't try to Astral Project after watching a scary movie. Looking back at your physical body can be a shock, even when you're expecting it, and shocks will pull you back into your body. Be prepared. If you believe in such things and think they're going to appear in your dream, then they most likely will. If you do encounter an evil entity, ignore the entity, tell it firmly to back off, or return to your body.

Keep in mind that only o nly you can turn this experience into a nightmare. Never try to have an OBE while in a bad mood. Avoid negative thoughts. Exact scientific proof that entering the OBE is dangerous – or even safe - does not exist; there has never been an exhaustive, controlled study to prove either supposition. However, since the OBE exists at the fringes of naturally-occurring states of mind, it can hardly be assumed dangerous. Notably, the OBE O BE is accompanied by rapid eye movement (REM), which every human experiences for up to 2 hours each night, and this begins to explain the OBE experience as entirely safe and natural. Already confirmed are the psychological influences of the OBE on the physical mind and body; namely, the emotional effects that can occur during the onset of the OBE state. Astral projection entry is a very profound, incredible experience that may induce fear, which is invoked by a natural instinct for selfself preservation. Astral Projection can create stress. This is especially true for novices and those poorly poo rly acquainted with the nature of the phenomenon and techniques used to control it. Without knowledge and proper practice, a fear-induced reaction can escalate into fullblown terror. After all, while in astral projection, fantasy quickly becomes reality, and reticent fears can take on hyper-realistic qualities. When this occurs, it’s not the OBE environm ent, but the fear that is treacherous. It goes without saying that fear is a toxic influence, especially to sensitive souls, the elderly, and people with physical ailments, like certain cardiovascular conditions. This does not mean that persons in these groups should abstain from practicing astral projection. The solution is to learn about and avoid common stressors associated with the practice, know the mechanics of controlling objects, and understand the principles of making an emergency exit.

Given the possibility of negative OBE experiences, it could be advised that practitioners limit the time in astral projection to fifteen minutes, though it is quite exceptional to maintain the OBE for such duration. Proposed time limits are entirely theoretical and motivated by the fact that natural REM does not normally last longer than fifteen minutes, and, at the risk ri sk of side effects due to the alteration of natural cycles, experiments directed at unnaturally prolonging REM are not recommended. Keep a Diary
It is a truism that when you document and measure your attempts at anything, progress is far quicker and easier. easier. This is equally true with Astral Projection!
1.Establishing 1.Establis hing a routine Without a routine, it is difficult to achieve a chieve anything, let alone something that takes a little more self-discipline. self -discipline. Make it easy for yourself, and buy a nice, good quality diary that it will be a pleasure to write in. I also like to use a quality fountain pen; somehow it just
feels more “right”. You could also make your notes on your computer or phone, but personally I find the physicality of writing by hand just helps me to achieve my goals better. It has been said that it takes around one month to establish a new “habit” or routine. 2.Monitoring your successes and failures It is easy to get some initial positive results, and a nd get close to having an out of of body experience, and then give up. Often, this is just due to forgetting
what was successful, and what was not. Remember, that which is recorded is likely to improve, and when you are actively monitoring and looking for improvements to find your own best personal style is even more likely to t o yield positive results. 3.Recording experiences makes them real! With something that may seem so intangible as Astral Projection, the act of writing makes the experiences somehow more “real”. Your close misses
will seem more real, and help you to keep motivated. ▪

If you have ever kept a Dream Diary, you will know what I mean. Dreams that you write down down when you first wake up will stay with you, but those those that you
don’t will often disappear by the time you have finished your first coffee of the day. Yes, it might not be very easy to type on your phone, instead writing in a old fashion diary but the idea behind this was to have all the resources in one place plus diaries can get lost or destroyed and read by others. It might not be pretty but it works!

The Ultimate Truth
Before we delve into the mystery of the ultimate truth, perhaps we should first ask the ultimate question. For me that is: Why are we here? I will not pretend that I have found the answer, but I will offer a viewpoint influenced by my soul travels. First of all, we exist independently of our physical bodies, hence the ability to travel out of the body. For me this has been proof enough that I will survive death's embrace. Second, we must accept that a multitude of beings exist in a dimension other than the physical. Third, it has been well documented that during hypnosis and after a neardeath experience, hundreds of people have reported experiencing a detailed review of their lives. How many times have we heard the expression, "My life flashed before my eyes!" This phrase has always been associated with lifethreatening circumstances. At this point I must query why would a review of past indiscretions be of value after departing from the world of the living? If we die and go to heaven, hell, or somewhere in between, of what possible benefit is a review of what is now unchangeable? Could it be we are given this life lif e review in order to learn by our mistakes, in hopes of not repeating them? I suggest that this may be one of our first clues that we w e somehow return to the Earth life system. And if so, then what is to be gained by returning to experience another life? Could it be to facilitate spiritual evolution of the soul? I have personally come to believe that life without reincarnation is like a stage play with only one act. There just isn't enough time for character development. So, providing we do somehow return to the physical and live again, where will all these life lessons eventually lead us? Is there some distant yet attainable at tainable goal? Based on my spiritual travels, I would say yes, beyond a shadow of a doubt! On the physical plane you are born, grow older, and finally experience death. It is then that some of those experiencing near-death report being drawn into a tunnel filled with swirling multicolored lights. Some report no lights at all, just an eerie blackness (which sounds similar to the black void I've experienced). When they arrive at the end of this tunnel, many recall being met by a deceased relative or one or more beings of light. This generally
▪
▪
occurs on the astral plane. According to the Tibetan Book of the Dead, this location or state of consciousness is referred to as the "bardo." Sometime after exiting the tunnel, a life review must be endured. I say endured because looking back at one's own life has been described as a mixture of pleasure and devastating sadness. The extent of sadness usually depends on how kind or cruel a person has been to others. Those experiencing e xperiencing near-death have described feeling the exact same pain, sadness, and hurt they thoughtlessly and selfishly caused another. After the life review, a soul now has the opportunity to plan the next step on its own evolutionary path.I believe this is the irrevocable destiny of the soul. This brings to mind the expression, "We are all al l created in God's image." After slipping free of my astral body and existing as a pinpoint of consciousness, being created in God's own image continues to possess possibilities far beyond these earthly vehicles of flesh and bone.

2.While Astral Projecting are we able to use our senses? See in color, hear, feel cold or heat etc? As mentioned in the answer to the previous question, in the astral plane, we do not use our physical senses. We can see, hear, and feel using our astral senses.I should also mention that we do not feel f eel cold or hot in our astral a stral body. If we do feel them, it is because our physical ph ysical body is feeling hot or cold, and a nd that feeling is transferred to the astral body via the Silver Cord. 3.What is the best time to practice Astral Projection? Day, night, or early in the morning? There is no best time to practice. But because of our busy lives, most people prefer to practice early in the morning or at night, before going to sleep. But if you have time, you can very well practice during the day.
4.What triggers Astral Projection? And when does it actually happen? Your goal is to reach a stage where your physical body is completely relaxed and your mind is completely awake. And then deepen that stage using visualization exercises. This is the magic moment where the separation of the Astral body from the physical body takes place.
5.No matter how hard I try, my mind remains very active every time I try to meditate or being hypnotized. What should I do to go into the necessary state to achieve Astral Projection? If your mind remains active, you need to find out what w hat are the thoughts that are bothering you. If you are stressed or tensed about something, you need to either discipline yourself to not to think about it during your practice. But if the issue is too pressing, you need to solve the problem, and practice Astral Projection Projection at a later date. But if the thoughts are nothing urgent, you can try putting all your thoughts in an imaginary box, and tell yourself that you will not think about these thoughts while you are practicing. p racticing. And also tell yourself to get back to those thoughts th oughts once you are done practicing. prac ticing.
6.Sometimes 6.Sometimes my dreams are so very vi vivid. vid. Is it Astral Projection? Generally dreams that are very vivid are a re either Lucid Dreams, or true Astral Projection. If it was an Astral Projection, you probably lost consciousness somewhere during that process, and slipped into i nto a dream.
7.I have read several books, but I am not achieving success. Why? There can be various reasons why you have not succeeded. Maybe you have ha ve not tried the right methods. Maybe you have a sub-conscious fear of something that is holding you back. Maybe you have not tried with a burning desire to
succeed.Maybe you have succeeded, but were unable to recall your experience when you woke up. ▪

9.Once I am out of my body, how do I stay out? During your first few projections, staying out of the body will not be very easy. Since the attraction between the physical body and the astral body is very powerful, your astral will want to jump back into the physical; and the physical will want the astral back just as badly.
