Calculation of Bhavapada -

The arudha (Pada Lagna) of the Ascendant (and other signs) is the sign obtained by counting as many signs from the Lord as it has progressed from the ascendant (or other sign). (J S 1.1.30)

The pada of the lagna (or lagna pada or Arudha lagna) is arrived at by counting the lagna lord from the lagna first and then counting as many signs from the lagna lord. This can be equated to a mirror and image of an object; where lagna lord is the mirror here, lagna is the object and lagna pada is the image of the lagna. Thus, Arudha of a house is the image of the house against the lord of the house.

Similarly, when the 7th becomes the pada of a Bhava, the 4th from the original Bhava in question be treated, as its pada.

If the Lord of sign is in the fourth from it, the fourth house becomes the Arudha. (JS 1.1.31)

If the Lord of a sign is in the seventh from it, then the tenth house becomes the Arudha. (JS 1.1.32)

Similarly, Arudha Dwadasa Rasi is as many signs away from the 12th lord as the 12th lord is from the 12th house. Lagna lord, Mercury is in the 3rd house, Scorpio, and therefore the Arudha lagna is three houses from Scorpio, counting inclusively, which gives Capricorn as A1 or Lagnapada. The 10th lord, Mercury is in the 3rd house of performance. A vargottama Venus in Capricorn, the planet of music, is with the Moon in the Arudha lagna Capricorn and rules the 10th house Libra from A1. Jupiter, the 3rd lord of the performing arts, is in the 10th house from A1, in Venus's sign. Atmakrak Mars, and Putrakarak Mercury (concerning art and creativity) aspect A1, teanted by Venus and Moon. The conjunction of Venus and Moon in the A1 and the 5th house from Lagna, with the aspect of Atmakarak and Putrakarak, forms a very powerful Raja yoga. Using Chara dasha, her spectacular stardom at such a young age has all come in the period of Scorpio. Both of these receive Jaimini sign aspect from the DK Venus, forming two more Jaimini raja yogas. - The Moon is in the Arudha lagna with the natural benefic, Venus, who is not exalted or in own sign, but is "in strength" being vargottama (located in the same sign in the natal chart as well as the navamsha chart). - Her Jupiter is in Libra in the 2nd house from the birth lagna. Jupiter gets the Jaimini sign aspect of Mars. Again, Mars is neither exalted nor in its own sign, but is in strength as it is in a friendly sign, in mutual reception with the Sun, both aspecting each other.
