zebra, resina, casebre ANTES DE COMEÇARMOS Uma vez que as pesquisas apon-taram para uma regra a base do estudo dos sons das letras e não das palavras, veremos se consoli-dar a tática da memorização con-tínua dos fonemas ingleses. Por-que, ao contrário do português, em que decoramos facilmente as normas fonológicas, no idioma inglês, como não havia essas normas, era e ainda é comum na-tivos dessa língua trocarem alhos por bugalhos quando a questão

é pronúncia. Imaginem se vocês adivinhariam o nome de 300.000 objetos sem ao menos ter tido qualquer conhecimento de que os mesmos existiam. Assim são as palavras inglesas. Decoramos os sons das mais frequentes. Aque-las científicas ou do campo erudito ficam a mercê da sorte. Por isso palestrantes do mundo in-teiro tomam o cuidado de ver qual pronúncia devam utilizar, na antecedência de não cometerem deslizes na hora de botarem a boca no microfone. Mesmo assim o desagradável acontece. Em português, até sem termos o conhecimento prévio do significa-do da palavra, acertamos a pronúncia dela, pela simples razão de dominarmos as regras, que são imutáveis. Ou seja, não sou eu nem é você que pode chamar rubi com acento tônico na vogal i. Também é um crime não colocar-mos acento em palavras proparo-xítonas, como plêiade ou aljôfar. Observem que raros são os brasi-leiros que sabem o significado de plêiade e aljôfar. No entanto, acredito eu que somente um cego ou um infeliz desaculturado dei-xaria passar em branco a pronúncia correta desses dois vocábu-los. No máximo cometemos erros na pronúncia das vogais E e O e na consoante X. Porém, pegando diariamente os sons das palavras onde há

temor de trocarmos as bolas dessas três importantes letras, eu dou um doce se alguém em um curto espaço de tempo não se sair vitorioso nesse con-texto.

O GUIA DA PRONÚNCIA INGLE-SA – O ÚNICO – de minha autoria, traz toda e qualquer regra para quem quer que seja falar de modo inequívoco um universo de pala-vras estranhas de uma língua que conquistou a todos nós. Não é à toa que os estudantes de inglês vivem um caos pessoal por não receberem dos profissionais de ensino uma orientação mais pro-funda quanto à fonologia a ser aplicada em matéria de inglês. Hoje, a começar desta apostila para o emprego normativo da pronúncia inglesa, vocês jamais encherão a paciência dos profes-sores do ramo com aquelas anti-gas perguntinhas a respeito de como chamar tal e tal palavra. Um idiota elevado a potência mil sai-ria por aí  indagando se VARIETY é vériiti ou vêráîti; ou se XEROX é shéroks ou zíraks. Lembrando que eu igualmente pertenci ao time desses idiotas. Como faltava a ferramenta, é lógico que nem um gênio acertava o dicionário todo. Agora a diferente.

coisa é bem Tudo não vai

além de um piano somando pouco mais de cento e cinquenta teclas. As teclas que bateremos são: SONS DAS LE-TRAS EM DESTAQUE; SONS DE GRUPOS; SONS DE SISTEMAS; SONS DE BINÔMIAS; SONS DE HOMÓGRAFAS; E SONS DE EX-CEÇÕES. Nunca se esqueçam que os sons dos grupos vêm em primeiro lugar. EX: D E S I G N dizáain Sublinhamos o grupo IGN, que se chama áain, quando este estiver no final da palavra. Porque por regra a vogal I no sistema em que vogais antecipam duas ou três consoantes (não R) a letra I possui o som i normal. Daí vocês chamam SIGNAL de sígnal e não de saignal. Saibam explorar os ditongos crescentes da seguinte forma: BIOLOGY baiólôdji Viram que do sistema I+VOG O a vogal O passou a ser a sílaba mais tônica em função de que no sistema em que acaba com a letra Y  a palavra tem de ser proparo-xítona? No caso de BIOLOGIC baiolódgik por terminar em IC, a sílaba mais forte recairá na vogal O mais próxima de IC, convidando a palavra a ser paroxítona. Logo o ditongo IO não será

expressivo em O do ditongo, que soará áto-no. De resto é só seguir as regras, di-ferenciando ambiente por ambi-ente, grupo por grupo, exceção por exceção. Façam assim: Quan-do virem, por exemplo, palavras como essas, meditem os seus sons, com a cabeça voltada para o que aprenderem neste manual: SPONTANEOUS sponteeinîûs Olhem que a sílaba mais tônica será a vogal A no sistema em que uma consoante separa uma vogal de duas. CREDO krídou   Já após chamarem os sons das consoantes C e R devidamente, basta observarem que a palavra tem duas sílabas e termina em O para a vogal E descarregar o som forte de Í, de acordo com o sis-tema. CREDULOUS krédûlûs Sem chances de errar, se notar que existe uma terminação OUS e daí a palavra a ser proparoxítona dever chamar o som de é para a vogal E, que está reinando no sistema em que VOG+CON(1)+ VOG faz com que se elimine qualquer hipótese de não haver solução para um determinado som de vogal sem ambiente.

De resto, as exceções, ou o arqui-vo das exceções é muito, mui-tíssimo menor do que o arquivo das músicas na memória do cantor do bar. A melhor alusão do arquivo das exceções é fazê-la com o arquivo das coisas em co-mum do bairro onde vocês mo-ram. Assim como é uma tremen-da besteira dizer um para o outro que ali é a padaria, e na padaria trabalha um homem alto, e que esse homem alto é torcedor do Flamengo, também é uma enorme bobagem sair dizendo que a pala-vra STEAK steik deveria ser stik; que APRIL eiprîl deveria ser éprîl; que IMPUGN impíûn deveria ser impâan, etcetera e tal. Vão memorizando as exceções associando-as com o conjunto de coisas que vocês vêem na locali-dade em que residem e perceberão que é bastante maneiro. Dê-em um tempo e em breve não ha-verá sequer uma exceção que não pronunciem. Ainda, em complemento às re-gras, façam a parte de vocês, ob-servando com bastante atenção às terminações ortográficas para estabelecer a tonalidade das pala-vras, que ora serão oxítonas ora paroxítonas ora proparoxítonas. Notaram que ambas são proparo-xítonas, apesar de terem uma vo-gal a mais? É que aquela vogal representada fonologicamente î não é contada como sílaba, por ser mera sufixação atonizada, já que a terminação AR em polissílabas faz com que esse fenôme-no aconteça. Vários são os exemplos de pala-vras nesse estado: espetacular 

pronuncia-se ispétîkîular  seguindo essa orientação.
