Engineered systems Single source responsibility Global service and technology support Reliable designs based upon experience
FLSmidth’s Airslide™ Air Gravity Conveying System uses the orces o gravity to do most o the work without any moving parts. Material is uidized through a porous media with low pressure air. Material ow is achieved by sloping the Airslide conveyor to match the uidized angle o repose o the powdered material. At the correct slope, uidized materials ow with the consistency o a liquid. Airslide Air Gravity systems provide highcapacity material handling while oering many economical and environmental advantages. Energy requirements are minimal because only a small volume o air at a low pressure is required to move material. Since the system is installed overhead, valuable oor space and added headroom are available or other purposes. By eliminating the need or massive support members, it permits a exibility o plant design not available with straight-line conveyors. The Airslide conveyor is dust tight. As a result, the system is extremely riendly to the environment.

Noise level is extremely low in the area surrounding the Airslide conveyor as the system’s air supply is the only moving part to generate noise, and it is generally located in a remotely insulated area to urther reduce noise. Maintenance o the Airslide conveyor is v ery simple because there are no moving parts other than the air supply equipment, which also contributes to increased plant saety. Airslide conveyors require no lubrication. Typical Airslide™ Conveyor Applications Distribution rom bucket elevators to storage silos Gathering under baghouses / precipitators Feed to process Feed to other conveyors Loadout rom bulk silos to trucks, railcars or barges In-plant conveying Storage silo / bin withdrawal •

The Principle of Fluidization: Driving low-pressure, low-velocity air through and between particles o a dry bulk material, changing its behavior characteristics and making it ow more like a liquid than a solid
1 45°
All y ash has a natural angle o repose, oten in excess o 45 degrees.
3 8° 2 > 45° Without any uidization, the Airslide™ conveyor would have to be inclined on an angle greater than the angle o repose to establish gravity ow.
With uidization, gravity ow can be achieved at a greatly reduced slope o 8 degrees or less.
Airslide™ Conveyor Fluidization FLSmidth Airslide Aeration Unit Packages are supplied or installation as aeration units on the sloped conical bottoms o bins and silos to aid in the withdrawal o dry, relatively reeowing material. • • • • • •

Airslide System Recirculation: SO 2 Mitigation - Circulating Dry Scrubbers For pebble lime and limestone (unloading, conveying and injection) Most new plants will be designed with some orm o SO 2 mitigation in the orm o wet or dry scrubbers. Such scrubbers are also being retroftted on existing plants or (a) environmental compliance and (b) to allow or the switch to less expensive high sulphur coals.

Standard FLSmidth Airslide systems can be employed or all o these lime-based handling applications. Specialized “circulating dry scrubbers (CDS)” all employ FLSmidth Airslide technology.
