UNIVERSIDAD NACIONAL DE INGENIERÍA INTRODUCCION Probablemente los materiales más cercanos a la profesión del ingeniero son los metales, como el acero estructural. En este laboratorio una de las propiedades mecánicas del metal que es la dureza. La dureza como tal mide la resistencia de la superficie de un material a la penetración por un objeto duro. Se han inventado una diversidad de pruebas de dureza, pero las de más común son los ensayos Brinell, Rockwell y vickers. La determinación de la Dureza, que se hace con estos métodos es generalmente ensayos de penetración, que consiste en dejar una huella en el material que se ensaya, aplicando sobre el un penetrador con una presión determinada y hallando el índice de dureza en función de la presión ejercida y la profundidad o diámetro de la huella. En el presente laboratorio nos valimos del método rockwell y vickers para hallar la dureza experimental de algunos metales. Página 3

94.68 51.07 *Um: 10-3mm VENTAJAS DEL METODO VICKERS a) Las huellas vickers son comparables entre si, y las cifras de dureza obtenidas, independientes de la carga. b) Con el mismo penetrador puede medirse una amplia gama de materiales, desde muy blandos hasta muy duros, llegándose hasta 1150 vickers. c) Puede medirse dureza de piezas muy delgadas empleando cargas pequeñas, hasta espesores del orden de 0,05mm. d) Como es preciso examinar la huella, puede comprobarse en cada medición el buen estado del diamante, lo que no ocurre en el rockwell, que debe examinarse el diamante de vez en cuando. Observamos que el óxido también influye bastante en el resultado de nuestra ensayo, así como también el de tener en cuenta que cada probeta por más de ser del mismo elemento, no tiene que tener la misma dureza, esto implica el tipo de tratamiento que se le dio a la probeta para su comercialización. Observamos que el resultado de nuestro ensayo depende mucho de que la
probeta cumpla con las medidas necesarias para su medición.
Observamos que el error en la medición varía de acuerdo a la distancia que
dejamos en cada nuevo ensayo en la misma probeta.
CONCLUSIONES:
En el ensayo Brinell se mide la superficie de la huella, por lo que es correcto en materiales de perfil grueso donde las huellas obtenidas son nítidas y de contornos delimitados. No es fiable en materiales muy duros y de poco espesor, se cometen grandes errores en la medida cuando la deformación

El ensayo Rockwell se diferencia de los anteriores en que la medida de su dureza se hace dependiendo de la profundidad de la huella y no de su superficie, es un ensayo rápido y fácil de realizar pero menos preciso que el Brinell y el Vickers. Es válido para ensayos en materiales duros y blandos.
El materia al cual se va hacer la medición de dureza debe estar previamente tratado (sus bases tiene que ser paralelas entre sí, deben de estar bien pulidas libre de cualquier fisura).
