CAT 7495 with Hydra crowd Option- Propelling without Dipper Installed The hydracrowd handle is top heavy when the dipper is removed and would required at least 75% crowd extension before the center of gravity would fall below the shipper shaft. If the machine is to be moved without a dipper, the handle will need to be secured to ensure that the control of the dipper handle is maintained. The attached documents outlines the material required to properly secure the dipper handle. Failure to follow this procedure would result in uncontrolled movement of the dipper handle and possible impact into the machinery house or boom walkways. The dipper handle is to be secured to the base of the boom with 1.5” steel cable sling and 85 ton shackles. The boom attachment point is a cored hole in the boom foot casting. A pin is place in the cored hole with a attachment plate and is secured using two locking bolts. The 85 ton shackle is then attached to this plate. This should be done on both sides of the shovel. The top of the dipper handle should be attached to a crane to ensure the handle can be position and control is maintained. The other end of the slings will be attached to the snubber bores using a second set of pins and attachment plates. The hoist padlocks are lower into position to closer to the attachment point on the top side of the dipper handle. 1.5” slings and 85 ton shackles are used to connect the padlocks to the dipper attachment point. The hoist ropes should be left slack at this point. The crane is used to move the dipper handle into position to connect the shackles to the slings attached to the boom foot. Please note the crowd position may need to be adjusted slightly to make connection easier. Once the connected position the crowd and take up the slack in the hoist ropes. Use the hoist revving mode to gain more precise control on the hoist. Once ropes are tight, the crane can be removed and the hoist ant crowd control should be locked out to prevent any intentional movement that may damage the slings.

Caution: When the machine is operated without a dipper in this configuration, it should be treated as a suspended load. At least two times the machine swing radius should be maintained clear of personnel. The machinery house roof, machinery houses, and boom should be kept clear of personnel during operation. If the slings are damage for some reason, the handle should swing toward the front of the shovel and impacting the handle rail and boom bumper. If the machine is jerked over center or the hoist rope pull the handle over center. The handle will swing back and impact the top of the machinery house.

While propelling the machine ensure that the ropes remain tight and readjust the crowd or hoist as necessary. G N I W A R D N O I T A M R O F N I R E M O
When the machine reaches the final location and in position to pick up the dipper, the hoist ropes can be left slack and the crane reattached to the handle end for control. The slings then can be removed. The dipper handle can then be positioned to attach to the bucket. Please note that the handle is still top heavy and needs to be pinned before releasing the crane.
