Flexi Multiradio - Flexi Platform is selected as common HW platform to be used for different access technologies: GSM/EDGE, WCDMA, LTE - Radio access functionality is shifted from dedicated HW to SW - Same Flexi BTS modules can operate simultaneously in one (dedicated mode) or more radio modes/technologies (concurrent mode) - System Module (SM) supports multiband operation • i.e. radio modules of different frequencies - RF Modules support a single frequency band but multicarrier operation

Flexi Multiradio System Module FSMF The Flexi Multiradio BTS System Module FSMF consists of: • Base module, that provides processing power to support three 20MHz cells and all the needed interfaces, • Up to two baseband sub-modules (FBBA) – optionally* FBBA provides additional processing power to support more cells or more technologies together with additional interfaces, • One additional transport sub-module (FTIF) – optionally, provides additional transport interfaces. Old FTLB, FTIB modules for FSMr2 do not work with FSMr3, • One power distribution sub-module (FPFD) – optionally, provides additional power sources for more radio modules or RRHs.

Transport Options • FSMF is equipped with two integrated transport interfaces: electrical Gigabit Ethernet (GE) interface (EIF1) and optical interface (EIF2/RF/6). • The latter is SW configurable for transport purposes or for RP3-01 interface. To operate in either (transport or RP3-01), it requires a Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP). Both • Ethernet interfaces provide a physical interface to the backhaul network. • FSMF is optimized for Ethernet Transport, and the HW supports the following integrated transport functions (without the optional transmission sub-module): -

Baseband capacity by SW License
•Flexi Multiradio System Module is designed to support baseband capacity upgrades without site visits. •The LTE Baseband (BB) capacity of the Flexi Multiradio BTS can be optimized depending of the required traffic capacity of the site. • More baseband capacity can be allocated remotely from NetAct by sending Baseband SW License to Flexi Multiradio BTS. •Capacity can be increased in steps of Mbps.
